Simone is a person of his word and he can adapt to any situation, very flexible and cooperative. He brought 14 premium leather soccer balls for the children, and their excitement and smiles when they received them were unforgettable. He stayed at the guest house with other dedicated volunteers and actively supported the fundraising campaign to provide soccer balls for the boys and essential sanitary materials for the girls in local schools. The children’s enthusiasm, and the tangible impact he made together with other volunteers left a deep impression to the community. I strongly recommend this gentleman to come back any time. Thanks very much Simone for your support to Gomba Community.

I stayed with Katerina for 2 1/2 months, June-September. I had the opportunity to help her with gardening, landscaping, painting, and a number of odd jobs. My favorite work was helping her make progress on a bedroom addition to her house. Kat Is a good teacher and helped me learn a great deal about cob and lime plaster. She then let me undertake the project of building an earth floor for her. She expects you to apply yourself during work hours and use your own head when possible. She is also a patient communicator when you have questions, and is forgiving of mistakes as long as she knows you are doing your best. The food was lovely, and I was allowed a great deal of freedom to cook as I saw fit. As her profile says, you will be living outside the vast majority of the time. The sleeping dome, bathroom, and kitchen are all more or less open to the air (you do have enough walls to provide sufficient privacy in the dome and bathroom). I loved this, just make sure you are comfortable with the idea. The main source of suffering for me was a species of biting insect, smaller than a mosquito, that made sleeping difficult most nights. This was entirely beyond Katerina’s control, and I just happened to be their favorite person at the worst season for them. I became very fond of the dog Bella, and of the lizards around the place. I highly recommend exploring the island on your days off, there are great museums and beautiful buildings and artwork left by the ancient Greeks, the Crusaders, the Venetians, the Ottoman Turks, and others. The natural beauty of the island is also a delight. Kat gave me excellent advice for getting around, what to see, and how to save money. She allowed me to accompany her to some social functions and helped me meet people as well. Her friends are lovely. Kat is a knowledgeable lady with a lot of interesting life experience. She has a talent for sharing and listening to ideas respectfully, even in cases of strong disagreement. She was good company, and good at giving a guest space to recharge. Thank you Katerina for your generous hospitality, working for you and staying with you were a pleasure. I’ll help you any way I can if you ever visit my part of America, and I hope I can come back and see you sometime. :)

Sophie and Ignacio are such lovely and dynamic people. I spent two weeks at their little place in the middle of the forest in Chiapas, and it was a real pleasure to share this time with them. During the first week, I was there with my friend Mathilde. We helped them finish a wooden construction, did some painting and gardening, and had many interesting conversations. We slept in a very nice wooden cabin with a beautiful view of the trees. The three dogs are adorable and very cuddly. After that, I spent a week alone at their home, and it was a truly peaceful and special experience. There are also nice little trips you can do nearby, like visiting a beautiful cave or going to the mirador for stunning views. Thank you so much, Sophie and Ignacio, for sharing this wonderful time.

My friend Sophie and I stayed with Hollie and Tom for about 9 days and it was an amazing experience! They were incredibly kind hosts, very attentive and considerate. We worked in the morning as they were keen on making sure we didn't have to be in the heat for too long. Working hours were flexible and fun. We mostly helped them prepare peanut butter and sauerkraut for the local market, some deep cleaning, gardening and even cooking! We got to visit the beach and markets with them, and had the freedom to explore the area every afternoon. We mostly spent our time swimming in the pool and reading on the hammocks! Plus, we got to see countless birds and monkeys, and even a sloth, all from their backyard. As well as spending quality time with their adorable cats. It was very relaxing and a great time to really connect with nature and enjoy the beautiful environments. Evenings were also lovely as we sat outside to eat dinner together most nights where we had a lot of lovely conversations and good laughs. Hollie's meals were restaurant quality and mealtimes were very flexible. Overall we also got a good mix of privacy and quality time with Hollie and Tom, we are so grateful to have been able to stay in their lovely home.

It took me a while to write this review to decide what I wanted to say… Overall, I would give it 4 stars, which is purely based on my experience, however I cannot say that everyone will have the same experience. There are a few things that are important to note as profile is not updated: there are zero full-time staff, and often few guests, which means very few people on the Posada, there is no “restaurant” (you are the restaurant lol), wifi was sometimes problematic (which I only cared about because I teach classes online), and you will work much more than the 25 hours a week, so much so that I felt exploited by the end. I was lucky to cross paths with 2 other volunteers, so I always had a friend which really made my experience what it was. But it was jarring to get there and realize that there were no other workers, which also means that as volunteers, you are the gardener, the chef, the maid and everything in between. This would have been okay, as I do enjoy doing this kind of work, but it is also important to know that days off are essentially nonexistent, hours are long and communication was not always easy, you will clean all of his dishes and never get a thank you, and when guests are there you will be working, cleaning, cooking, etc. the entire day, which to me felt more stressful than a Workaway experience should be… HOWEVER, the posada is gorgeous, there are horses and so many animals and a beautiful landscape that I enjoyed being a part of. There was a small mountain right next to the posada where I often watched sunset and took much needed breaks. Diego is generous with taking volunteers on excursions and showing us different parts of Uruguay, and also loves to teach random and fun skills. I learned a lot about many different things, and looking back I have no regrets, but I do have lots of stories. I say this all because I think it’s necessary for any future volunteers to know exactly what they are signing up for. There is much more to say, please feel free to reach out if you have any questions.

I stayed with Marie and Oisin (and of course Pricess Lily and Luka) for 2 weeks during spring preparations. They are lovely and very welcoming people, communication was clear before and during my stay. I worked mostly in the garden, preparing the permaculture beds for their coming purpose. But Marie took care that my duties were varied enough to not get boring. I hope that some frogs will move into the wellness-temple I helped to build:) On the extension of the chickenˋs palace I learned to work with mortar. Thanks for the fantastic time, the delicious meals (hope to keep some ideas for my life) and a special thanks to Luka who was very patient with my lack of knowledge of properly playing with him. He stole my heart a bit.

This was my first Workaway experience and I couldn’t have asked for better! Fran, Agos and little Feli are a wonderful family who welcomed me wholeheartedly. Within hours it felt like I had known them for years! My days consisted of slow mornings, either exploring by myself or with the family, going on local excursions and to meet their friends, which was greatly appreciated and really added to the experience. The afternoons were spent with Feli (baking, painting, playing at the beach) while Fran and Agos worked. They were always close by if needed. Their apartment is so close to the sea, with lots of little beaches. The area is easy to navigate with public transport and lots of exploration is possible. The workawayer will have a private bedroom and bathroom. If you want to make new friends for life, I absolutely recommend this Workaway exchange 💛

Tom adapted very easy to the farm, to the animals. 10 days passed very comfortably with him . He followed the rules, was respectful and hard worker. He is very helpful, calm, punctual and responsible person. He worked hard with moving the olive branches, moving the woods and the manure and he walked with the dogs every work day. We had many interesting conversations over meals and we enjoyed a lot. Thank you for everything and you are always welcome to the farm.

I enjoyed my stay with Christina and her family very much. Christina is a kind and empathetic person. She gave me tips for freetime activities in the beautiful Chiemgau region and I really enjoyed our hike together. If I needed anything, Christina was always helpful. In the house I got everything I needed to feel at home, including a lot of tasty plant based food. The work was fun and we always discussed together what to do, so that I could also divide my time myself. I wish her and her family all the best! 🤗

Our time with Amelia was without a doubt one of the most wonderful experiences we have ever had. She is polite, sociable, cheerful, highly independent, and truly dedicated. Our 6‑year‑old son still says from time to time, “I wish Amelia could come back again.” We, his parents, feel exactly the same way. Amelia treated our son as an independent individual, always respecting him while guiding him gently. This gave him a great deal of confidence and helped him learn the importance of respecting others. She also made sure he could enjoy English in fun and creative ways, and she always made their time together meaningful. We are truly grateful for that. Having Amelia with us was a tremendous support for our family. She helped us in many aspects of daily life, and simply having her in our home gave us a great sense of comfort and reassurance. She also showed a deep interest in Japanese culture— not only the famous or flashy parts, but also the small, everyday aspects of our life. Talking with her reminded us of the beauty of our own culture, and we always enjoyed our conversations with her. In terms of daily living, she kept her space tidy and organized at all times, and we never felt any stress living together. We can confidently recommend her to every host. We truly hope to see her again someday.

Being a granny over seventy, it was quite a challenge to engage in the step to be again a workawayer in the Arctic north and to be prepared to embrace the flow of my host family, but it was a rewarding experience. I had the privilege to stay six weeks on the Lofoten with Karina, Kim and their two young children, Anker and Aud, during the dark, snowy season. From day one on, I was closely involved in daily life as part of the family, where I enjoyed full trust and where we shared mutual respect. The wish list of tasks was congruent with the description in the profile: thorough cleaning in the three stories of the old house, taking care of the children, snow shoveling, cooking meals, making fire, as well as doing DIY projects, like sewing, sanding and painting. During my stay, it was with pleasure that I joined the family on several trips, but also that I could visit places with stunningly beautiful landscapes and interesting musea on my own, and discover local uses and practices, new to me. There were lots of opportunities for this, like riding a spark, cooking moose meat, watching northern light from my bed, having a picknick on the snow sitting on a reindeer skin, visiting the kindergarden and Kim' ship and, last but not least, being introduced to the Norwegian arm practice. Being in close contact with the children and playing with them will remain a precious memory to the end of my life. Thank you, Karina and Kim, for your hospitality, and hugs to Baba, the lion of Svolvær, and to the dancing little sunshine. Love to you all. Elisabeth

Kanoko stayed with us for almost three weeks, and it was truly a pleasure to have her in our home. She is a very respectful, kind, and easy-going person, and she blended into our daily life effortlessly. She helped us a lot with house maintenance, especially with a lot of painting :) Her work made a real difference, and thanks to her, the kids now enjoy a fresh and beautifully renewed playground. Beyond her help, we really appreciated the time spent together — a incredible boardgame player! Queen of Tokyo! We warmly recommend Kanoko to any future host!

It was really wonderful staying at Mati's. He was from the very beginning super nice, fun and thoughtful. The house has a very nice atmosphere, the view is amazing and I loved his cute doggy and cats. I enjoyed a lot both the work and just hanging out. Mati'd showed to me how to prune the olive trees, we had nice conversations and everything was just great and smooth.🌱🌻

Elisabeth became a natural and valued part of our family from the very moment she arrived, and she has remained so even long after returning home. Her presence was genuinely appreciated, both by us as adults and by the children, with whom she built a strong, caring, and playful connection. She consistently demonstrated a high level of competence and initiative in daily tasks. Elisabeth is excellent with children, reliable in the kitchen, and highly capable when it comes to practical and hands-on work. In particular, her sewing skills are outstanding and added significant value during her stay. On a personal level, Elisabeth is easygoing, open, and trustworthy. Communication with her was seamless throughout the entire process—from the initial planning stages to her time with us—making collaboration both efficient and enjoyable. We can confidently recommend Elisabeth to any family or employer seeking a dependable, skilled, and genuinely kind person. She would be a strong asset in any setting.
