Description
A family living in a traditional 100 year old house and garden in Svolvær, Norway. We live the traditional way, with the husband away at sea for weeks at time. When he's home we try to explore and sometimes go away to visit family or cabins.
We are a small family. Baby boy born 1st April 2023 and a little sister born October 2024 has joined and we would like help with the kids as well (playtime, meals, change, walks etc)
We have also been renovating the traditional, three story Norwegian original modernism vila from 1930 in Svolvær, Lofoten.
A jungle garden, leaky garage, windy walls and winding staircase will be renovated back to 1930 style.
We reach out for mature travelers or couples, able to adapt and eager to explore what Lofoten has to offer. Preferable minimum 30 years old and with lots of life experience and travel stories to share. Self going must be your strongest trait/skill.
You will have a seperate room to sleep in, there no physical door, but a big thick curtain that keep it private during night. Sometimes the older kid watches tv in the room, so during daytime it's not private. there's a shared bathroom and kitchen and a large comfy sofa all on the top floor of the house.
We both work shifts on a ship and will be away at times, up to several weeks sometimes, but for now one of us is always home with the baby.
we love big indian stews with lots of spices and lentils and will often cook up a big warm pot of this when im home.
When at home we can go fishing and harvesting from nature depending on the season, my diet is usually freeganism, please ask if you don't know the term. And supplying when needed from stores.
If we go away to grandparents or such and you stay at the house the basic will be all at your disposal, but if you need anything special/extra you buy this yourself. Same with candy, snacks or alcohol during the stay.
We can not accommodate smokers of any kind as I'm very sensitive to the smell and don't want the babies around smoke. We can not accommodate very strict diets either, but Vegan/vegetarian are very welcome, as long as rice, pasta, potatoes and grains are included.
Breakfast is normally bread or oats/corn flakes. Lunch is easy, a piece of toast or leftover from dinner yesterday. We normally have dinner between 16 and 17 because of the kids. This is the heavy, warm meal in Scandinavia where we all sit together and eat. Breakfast and lunch varies so we just grab it when we can between other tasks.
The kids have some oats or toast just before bedtime at 1930ish, we really try to have the kids in bed by 2000.
We try to keep the meals healthy and simple, free from sugar,, little salt and keep the processed ingredients to a minimum.
It's a small kitchen and unfortunately it's not possible to cook your own warm or /and complex food for breakfast, lunch and evening food. But we're open to suggestions, for example one of our work awayer asked to make porridge for evening food and the kids also loved it as well.
After the kids are in bed we relax (or whatever you want to do as long as you don't wake up the kids)
They normally wake up at about 6-7 so we(parents) go to bed at about 22 23.
There are very many outdoor activities in the area, some are charged and some are not. We have access to some gear if you don't bring your own.
If this sounds appealing to you please drop us a message. Minimum include who, when, how long and what you can help with for a start.
Look forward to hearing from you!
