My stay at Lauren’s was about 3 months and it was such a heartwarming experience. Lauren is a really caring and loving mom and Calla and Ellia are really energetic cutie pies ! There’s always something to do around the house, but Lauren’s often taking us out to eat or have a good time outside ! I had the opportunity to meet other Workawayers, and grew an amazing friendship with Sarah ! Lauren and Ciaran were amazing hosts, I felt like part of their family. I could not be more grateful for the time spent with them. I cannot wait to see you guys again, I’ll miss you so much. See you really soon xx

I enjoyed meeting Nitish, he was very willing and helpful to try the various jobs that needed to be done, even when he had not had any previous experience. He applied himself diligently and was conscientious especially when I went to a music festival for a few days over NYE. I left Nitish in charge of feeding animals and to continue whipper snipping to reduce fire hazard. At his suggestion he sent me photos of his progress everyday! When I got back, Unfortunately due to weather extremes, fire danger and record temperatures, there was not much that could be done outside and it was just too hot!🥵 Nitish stayed at a friend’s place, who had a cool place to stay, as I had a tent set up and this got a bit too hot. So Nitish got to experience another environment and my friend showed him around the area before his return to Melbourne. I hope that Nitish continues to explore and I wish him the best in the future. Stay well and positive Nitish😊

I had a wonderful experience staying at Galo de Allende ! This was my first workaway and it couldn't have gone better. Juan Diego and Laura are beautiful people and I was delighted and amazed at how 'dialed in' their scene was. I got to spend most of my time with Juan Diego (Laura has a busy veterinarian practice) and felt so welcomed at the farm. He was very accommodating and attentive to my feeling comfortable with my accommodations as well as any work I was asked to do. There were many baby goats at the time that I was there so I got to milk the mamas and bottle feed the kids. I also was able to help in the creamery with packaging and such. I very much enjoyed meeting and working with his employees. Speaking spanish is definitly a plus and I was grateful for my abilities so I could really engage with them. I also helped at the weekly market and went around doing deliveries with JD which really opened me up to the area and to the people. A highlight was being part of their weekly farm tour where about 20 people come. Hearing Jual Diego and Laura's story of how they got to where they are at as a farm and business was informative, delivered with great humor and warmth. People came to the farm tour as strangers and left feeling like community! I see that this is a big part of what they offer... connection and commitment to people and local community as well as practical and sustainable commitment to the land and farm practices. I spent the the nights alone (with their wonderful dogs) and thoroughly enjoyed the beauty of the land out there. I felt safe and nourished after being in several towns in my longer stay in Mexico. Just what I needed... The quiet and the beauty and the view of the lake. I very much recommend a stay with them if they ever need help again. Thank you so much for all your kindness and generosity of spirit Juan Diego.

Sue and Jim are the nicest people you could wish to meet and are the perfect Workaway hosts. Sue keeps her Workaway calendar upto date and always responds promptly, a big plus for all us Workawayer's who are trying to plan multiple stays on a long journey. They are so well travelled and knowledgeable, kind hearted and a have fantastic sense of humour; we didn't stop smiling for the whole time we were there, our time just flew by. They have chosen to offer 3 hours work/person/day for a great lunchtime meal created each day by Sue from a mixture of homegrown fruit and vegetables plus locally sourced produce. We worked from 9-12 doing a mixture of outdoor jobs, some with Sue and Jim and some on our own, but always with good quality tools and equipment. Sue and Jim were keen for us to make the most of our free time to explore the local area and were happy to join us on walks, show us the ideal places to tour round and to introduce us to some of their friends; Lou even went with Sue to a ballet class. Going to see the eels in the creek in their friends garden was a real highlight of our trip to New Zealand, such a unique and fascinating experience. The accomodation you stay in, is fantastic, being modern, clean and light with plenty of hot water for great showers plus ample cooking facilities to make breakfast and a light evening meal. The views are beautiful, with native bush surrounding the property which attracts lots of birds. Sue and Jim have been working for the last eight years to transform their home and land into a little bit of Coromandel paradise and it's a credit to them what their hardwork and vision has achieved. Our very short stay and work achievements (six nights) seems so inconsequential in comparison, but we are so glad to have had the opportunity to help you achieve some more of your goals. Hopefully you can save some tasks for us to get stuck into again next year - this is a definite must visit again place

I really enjoyed my time with Michiko and Jensen (and their cute daughter!), they are such a lovely family and very accommodating to their volunteers. I only had the chance to spend a few days with them but I wish I could have stayed longer, as there were lots of different jobs to take part in - everything from working in the rice fields, to packaging items produced on the farm, to helping with food preparation. Every day requires something slightly different which keeps it fresh and exciting. The accommodation where volunteers stay is in a quiet area a little way away from Michiko's house that's very comfortable and there are plenty of opportunities to go out and explore the local landscapes and beyond, including Wulu Gorge. Michiko and Jensen are incredibly hard-working and they have big plans and goals for the future, and being able to stay with them for a while was a great pleasure. Oh, and they have a gorgeous tabby cat called Ice-Cream... he's adorable! Thank you Michiko and Jensen for hosting me, and wishing you all the best for the future! You guys are great!

If you want the true Australian experience, hangout on Mount Cotton with these two. Ewen and Lesley are the absolute best. easily two of the nicest people we have come across. We could not have had more fun. Lesley is an incredible woman with a great sense of humor. She keeps the house in check, makes amazing meals, and has the cutest relationship with all of the animals on the property. She makes the animals and the workawayers all feel like family. Ewen is basically Jesus. He's able to make something out of nothing with his projects and he's willing to show you how to do anything if you just ask. He taught us so many skills in the three weeks we stayed as well as telling us stories through history lessons over smoko. During the day, we got to do real work. It felt so good to end everyday, feeling productive and then getting to have awesome conversation with Ewen, Leslie, and their family. They have built a gorgeous home on top a mountain that overlooks the area and surrounding islands. On your off days, they have a car you can use to go around and explore whatever you want in the area. Ewen does know best though on what you should be doing. His tips on hiking and exploring are top notch. James and I could not be more grateful. These two truly made us feel like family and we can't wait to visit them and stay in touch for as long as possible. Thank you both for everything and Ewen, I'm sorry that I'm so much better at lawn balls than you.

Thanks everyone for a relaxed time at your home. You made me feel welcomed. My main tasks were helping out with the kids, Xavi, Milah and Jamie. We played games, created art and read stories. The kids are gorgeous and so much fun to be around. I also helped another volunteer with making a new kitchen work surface. Jordan made yummy healthy food! The cabin was very comfortable and spacious. It was so special being in nature and hearing the howler moneys at night 🐒 Wish you all the best

Where to begin! Tom and Tarah were such respectful, kind, caring, easy-going workawayers. Full of love and curiosity, Tarah took care of the animals as if they were her own. She showed concern for them when it was raining and did everything she could to protect them against the elements. She took the cat to the vet for us and went out of her way to make sure the animals were comfortable and safe. It was so wonderful to see (for the first time) a workawayer take such interest in the aviary too. Always happy to chat and watching out for everyone around her, Tarah was a very cool person to have on the farm. Thank you Tarah. Tom, with his chill, calm and collected demeanour managed to combine working from home despite construction noises going on and other unexpected events. He also built us an epic vegetable garden. Working in a t shirt in cold weather while everyone else was in jumpers and jackets, hardcore! BOTH OF YOU SO COOL! and most incredible of all, they were the first workawayers to take care of the farm while we were away. They communicated exceptionally well, managed in extreme and unforeseen weather conditions. That really showed such commitment, and dedication. They did not let us down <3 it was also so sweet that you were communicating with Mima even without the French, made her smile and kept her company. We all love you guys. Thank you for everything and hope to see you again soon!

I spent 3 weeks on this farm and I couldn't have imagined my first workaway experience to be any better! Stefano, Francesca, Leonardo and Björn form a very welcoming family and all the farm animals are hard not to love. I spent my working hours with feeding the animals, building palette pens for the goat mums and their babies, taking care of the goat babies, making stove starters and working in the garden. I was lucky to be there for the time over 30 baby goats were born, the cutest things on earth ever!! In my free time I loved going exploring the area, the farm is surrounded by a beautiful landscape with a good potential for trekking routes and great views. I totally recommend this workaway host for any nature and animal lover that wants to experience an authentic Tuscan farm lifestyle and is ready muddy, hard but fair work! ☺️⛰️🐐

Today is the first day of my Workaway at Raul's community project, and so far it has been truly great! the location is breathtaking! and the community of volunteers have been incredibly welcoming, and the dogs - seriously such bundles of love!! I am truly looking forward to my stay here and doing work that contributes to this great project. I feel very fortunate to have chosen this project as my first with Workaway!! I'll share photos soon!

I spent two weeks with Lizz and her family in Nelas. It was a wonderful experience, the cultural exchange dream! Since Lizz and her husband Matthew grew up in England, but Lizz's parents are also living there with them it's a perfect mix of English and Portuguese culture, with food and characteristics from both cultures. The work varied based on weather and what needed to be done, it was really a mix of everything. We cut down trees and chopped them up in to smaller pieces, we worked a little bit in the vegetable garden, cleaned out another abandoned house and bottled some wine. They were very kind and flexible with the work, so I could do my online work when I needed to. The whole family is very wholesome, and the children love to play board and card games (caution! it will be hard to beat Seb in anything). Everybody was very welcoming from the first day and we had awesome dinners together, they made me feel like a part of the family everyday! The dogs are also very cute and very thankful if you take them on a walk in the morning, and the orange trees were also looking at me with a smile everyday wanting to be harvested. Overall this is the perfect opportunity for anyone who wants to experience the quiet nature of Portugal and meet lovely people. They have plenty of life experiences that they are happy to share, and have a nice chat after dinner. Thank you for having me! :D

Helen and Ian were absolutely brilliant hosts and I feel incredibly lucky to have spent the festive season with them. Straight away I felt like part of the family, with dog walks, pub trips and movie nights with them and their loveable and noisy zoo of cats, dogs and chickens! The work was relaxed and interesting, I helped on the vineyard, planted some native trees and helped with the veggie garden. I also tried to help around the house where I could and pitched in with some cooking here and there (although both Helen and Ian are excellent cooks and kept me extremely well fed). Waitaki Valley is a great area, not too busy but with good cycling and walking opportunities, and Oamaru isn't too far for a day trip. Thank you guys for such a fun stay, I really hope to return one day!!

I stayed with Simon just for three weeks during last December and it was a wonderful experience! It's not as long as I wish, but still I enjoyed my time here. The place is located in the middle of mountains surrounded with beautiful nature. Sometimes I enjoyed just walking around and exploring small mountain villages nearby. Simon is very enthusiastic person and spending time with him was very interesting and entertaining. And the food he cooks...every vegetarian (even vegan or meat-eater) was more than satisfied with it. And the work I was given was very varied and interesting. But what I liked the most about this place were definitely the people I spent my time there with! Simon really created here a community with so many interesting people from all around the world. And in the end it feels like a big family!

Makayla is such a wonderful person and Workaway host! She made my experience throughout my 2 month stay with her feel like home. I learnt so many handy skills that I would never have dreamt of knowing from small electrical work, painting, building (I know how to use MANY tools now), fencing, and much more. She went out of her way to make sure we got to enjoy horseback riding as well which was a blast. I know if I'm ever back in the country that I'll have to make her family a priority to visit, because I'll miss them all very much. Thank you so much for everything!

Working at the Cafe Lume was a really amazing experience!! The place is wonderful, surrounded by mountains, hiking and lake near by and a beautiful garden where you can pick a lot of snails :) The Cafe is all organic, vegan and has modern equipment to work with, everything is made with love and is prepared by hand. Elena, Remo and the little Nalu-Laurin are amazing people and I am pretty sure they are one of the coolest hosts on this website. So happy about the experience!! Super!!

Wow. I really can’t say enough good things about the project. Everything about this project, the space and the life feels so genuine and loving. Flor, Gabo and Tao welcomed us with open hearts and have become family. Days start with Gabo’s homemade oats, shared together (breakfast and lunch are both provided and shared ) around the table and Flor talks about the daily goals (Tao does the background music). From planting, building, digging, cooking, macheting and so much more, the work is fair and varied. Sharing your energy with the project and the beautiful people there is deeply rewarding, as you see the power of community and hard work reflected in the environment around and within you. Tent sleeping with shower, sometimes power, full kitchen, fridge, hammocks, fresh fruits, instruments, lovely neighbors, and dogs! Bugs of all sorts! It was an honor to share Temazcals, ceremonies, adobe dome space, music and so much growth with such funny, loving, and knowledgeable people. If you are open to spiritual practices, there is much you can learn from this space and these people. Issac, a longtime Super Voluntario knows all the ins and outs, and can help acclimate you to the space and lifestyle. Neighbors and community members are always about. The distance is 1 mile from La Punta (surfing, volleyball, restaurants, and more) but still feels quiet, surrounded by nature and stars. Volunteering here has been a life changing experience, challenging, teaching and showing us the beautiful cycles of life. It is brimming with knowlege and acceptance, come with an open mind and heart and you can learn vast amounts about all sorts, including yourself. Seriously, if you can come here, do!
