This guy is amazing. He has some personal touch and a special "aura" that makes children immediately trusting him and involved in games and activities with him. Our little one, Giorgio, 5 years old, felt very at easy with Joao since the very first moments, and stimulated and interested in the many activities they made toghether during the four months of staying at our place in Viareggio. At the end of the staying, Giorgio was truly loving Joao and considered him as an older brother. Also my older girl, Agata, 15 years old, found some nice chat with him and was perfectly at ease with him around. Joao also was scrupolous on the tasks assigned in the house (washing machine, folding clothes, dishwasher and trash management) and we had never had any remarks on his behaviour. The opposite, we enjoyed the company of this very smart person, quiet and introspective, with a big big passion for cinema and movie-making that he shared with us in many ways: he became my personal advisor for movies to watch :-) , he gifted us with a beautiful movie he made for and with us during a 4-days family holidays , he shared with us his other productions and also his studies on the matter. He is a homely person, but if he doesn't look too much interested in social life for himself, he has been always very happy to go with Giorgio at children's birthday parties, or friends'houses or outside for bike ride with other friends ! The only thing better not to ask him is to cook, not because he is not able to (he cooked twice at home both times food was delicios) but because he feels like a performance-pressure while doing it. We feel very gifted to have shared these months with Joao and we strongly recommend him to any family that would experience a sincere and involving human relation for a slice of life. Sincerely, Laura and family

This experience was truly one of the best experiences in my life. Everyone here is so kind, so welcoming and I received so much love from the kids. I learnt so much here about love, sharing and respect and I can't thank enough Hani who gave me this opportunity. If you love kids and you're looking for cultural exchange, this place is for you. Thank you again Hani and everyone in the school who made this experience so enriching and meaningful for me! Hope to see you again one day🫶🏾

Stacy, Sebastian, and their three children stayed at our House for four or five weeks, taking care of our two horses, looking after our house, and doing lots of work around the property. Everything was clearly arranged and went perfectly. (To avoid any issues with the tax office, I registered the extra work they did as domestic help with the "Minijob-Zentrale".) We were only together for a few nice days. So we were able to travel to Málaga without any worries. Many thanks to the family and to Workaway. We highly recommend them. Rudi und Jeannine

It was truly a pleasure hosting Mason. From the very beginning, he showed incredible motivation, dedication and a genuine willingness to be part of our community. He approached every task, whether tending to the plants, helping with woodwork, maintaining the grounds or supporting during retreats, with enthusiasm and care. His work ethic is outstanding and he consistently went above and beyond what was expected. What stood out most was his initiative and his positive and solution oriented attitude. Beyond his practical contributions, he brought a wonderful energy to the space. He connected easily with others, shared meaningful conversations and embraced the simple nature based lifestyle here with openness and respect. Any host would be very lucky to have Mason. I can wholeheartedly recommend him and would welcome him back anytime.

Julien is a trained electrician and he helped me with a few jobs around the house related to this and lots of other things. We became good friends. He relates well to the other volunteers and is always friendly and helpful. I would absolutely recommend Julien to any host. And be careful, he says he isn't that good at ping pong then he beats you 🤣🤣

Thank you for the possibility to help and volunteer for 2 months. It was a great opportunity to explore the city, get to know more about Bulgarian culture, and also to get to know other people, their experiences, and stories. Looking forward to visiting this place again in the future.

Yosa and Nafisa were lovely and let me join in on some of their activities like going to the gym with their friends :) the teachers are so nice and it was great getting to speak with the kids. I don't drive a motorbike but the transport is very cheap that I was totally okay to go around town still. A truly local experience- thanks for having me!

There are no words to truly capture this amazing experience. I had originally planned to stay here for two weeks, but I ended up staying for a whole month. Samadhi and the entire team are incredible — they quickly became like family to me. The place is magical, perfect to reconnect with yourself, surrounded by peaceful nature. The project they started truly needs special people who are ready to contribute to something meaningful. If you've felt a connection with this Workaway, don’t hesitate to reach out — you won’t regret it. I hope to return soon, because this connection is just the beginning.

We spent 10 days at the wetland restoration project in Kasese, with Goodman, Moris, Raimon and Samson. We helped collect waste (litter picking) from around the site, met with community members to help explain the importance of the wetland and the income possibilities for them, with municipality members, and the project team, to discuss and advance the restoration and tourism possibilities of the wetland. We really enjoyed our time at the project and got to know the team well, having good discussions and laughs. The wetland is a beautiful area within Kasese and the dedication, hardwork, passion, belief and vision that the members have is awe inspiring. We stayed in peaceful, comfortable accommodation and all our meals were made by the wonderful Naboth. Thank you to all the guys in Kasese who made our time there so enjoyable. We wish you all the best for the future. We would highly recommend this Workaway project 😊

Deniel and Ora are good hosts. During our stay with them, we did some odd jobs at Deniel's in-laws' house, then cooked and ate together, visited the buffalo market, did some odd jobs at their house, went for a scooter ride one evening and then stopped for a bite to eat, and had a few days off to explore on our own. Daniel is a friendly person and helped us with our very poor English. Thank you, Deniel and Ora, for this wonderful opportunity!!!!

Kwan is an amazing host! His house in mid of the forest is such a peaceful place…you can see the sunrise and the sunset in between of the trees, accompanied by a cricket, bird and frog concert. The balcony is a perfect spot for making yoga with the sunrise and for having a nap in the hammock. The daily working schedule is perfectly adapted to the hot climate. I enjoyed it a lot to do gardening work (weeding, seeding, planting, watering,…).Thank you Kwan for confiding me the machines in your wood workshop, even though I didn’t have much experience with the machines! We even went to a school to teach organic farming to the local kids - a very unique experience to get an insight in Thai boarding schools! On our days off Kwan still found time in his busy schedule to show us nice spots around trat - a very rural region, where tourists still are rare. We went to a mangrove forest, to the beach, to a water reservoir for canoeing, to a very special prision, to local restaurants (one of them with 50+ eagles!), to the local market and to a waterfall with his amazing bikes (while Kwan went to Bangkok and confided us his house with all the work around!) I can truly recommend this place, if you’re looking for a unique, untouristic Thailand experience on a peaceful place, where you can connect to nature, learn about organic farming, woodworking and a funny host (don’t worry if don’t get his jokes immediately;)) who has a great vision to help local people, which should be supported!

I had such a lovely experience staying with the family. They are incredibly welcoming and kind. Rachel and John have grown to be my Irish parents even though I only stayed for one month. I felt at home straight away. I loved doing the tasks on the farm, especially feeding lambs, walking Vince, driving the quad bike and the teleporter and joking around with John (mainly making fun of each other and chasing sheep together). Thanks to him I even got to deliver a lamb, which is definitely a once in a lifetime experience. He's super thoughtful, relaxed and has a lot of cheeky remarks. None of the work was too difficult or hard. I learned a lot about farm work, despite the fact I come from a farm myself. I loved being surrounded by sweet animals, the cat Zeus is the silliest ginger cat ever and the dog Vince is an absolute sweetheart. It's been really calming for my mind and body to be out in nature with animals, I would recommend it to anyone. Rachel's presence is honestly so comforting, and she was truly my closest friend in Ireland. She's an amazing cook (her stew is the best I've ever had) and she knows a LOT. We talked lots and lots and not a single topic was off the chart with her, so I got to learn lots from her. She's very funny and super open as well. We had a great connection and I miss her loads already ;) The kids are really funny and have made me laugh numerous times. Tessa and Erika have a lot of silly jokes together, as do Cormac and Sarah. The latter are super chaotic together (we compared them to Crash and Eddie from Ice Age) but also really sweet. I highly recommend baking with Erika and drawing with Sarah, both have been really relaxing. Tessa has a terrific talent for music and sports. Cormac is super smart and passionate about the farm, we've done some tasks together as well. All kids are absolute sweet hearts and so unique in their own way. Overall, I'd 100% recommend this Workaway family. Although Sligo may be a bit far off the tracks, it also has its perks and the family definitely makes up for it. I had a great bedroom with a nice bed, access to plenty of delicious food and the family was super relaxed, making it feel like a holiday. They didn't mind driving me or bringing in groceries for me etc. I would love to visit them again some time. If you get the chance to visit them, I definitely would :)

These guys have already wonderful reviews. Before I accept their volunteering request, I checked their profile and I can't believe it! It was the first time that I saw many good reviews on a workaway profile. After my experience with working them I see that all reviews are completly correct. Mehrad and Rubi have a good hearth. They are always positive and energetic. They are ready to work with all the tasks that we need. It was easy to communicate with them. They brought joy to our hostel. Rubi is good at deep cleaning and make the places tidy. She is a painter. She likes to make art on the walls. Mehrad is good at handy works. He helped my husband for electricity and fixing. They both helped preparing breakfast and welcoming guests as well . Me, my husband and my staff have their good friendship right now. We wish them all the best.

My partner and I originally planned to stay one month but ended up staying for three. The experience we had with Agne, Michele and the rest of the family/friends was unforgettable. We got to experience quinticential Italian culture both from traditional and modern perspectives. It was hard to leave but hopefully we will be back. Agne, Michele, Zio Carlo & the family: Agne, Michele and Zio Carlo welcomed us into the family from day one. They took us along to meet their friends and included us in visits to see their parents and other family. Everyone was so kind and friendly, and it was a great experience for us to practice speaking more Italian. Zio Carlo was an absolute gem and my partner and I are really going to miss him and everyone else. The animals: All of the animals were low maintenance and easy to take care of. Skedja the cat and Mora the dog love a good head scratch and attention. Sepia was one of the fluffiest cats I have seen. Although it was our first time taking care of a pig, Ronaldo was chill and only required a daily feeding. There were three cute chickens who didn't require much attention either. Accommodation/Food: The house was always warm and we had our own room with a large and comfy bed. The bathroom had a bath which was nice to have a soak. The food was incredible, we were always well fed and the meals were made with wholefood and minimal processed ingredients. Agne and Michele were expert cooks and were happy to share their knowledge and techniques. Lunch and dinner times were our favourite as we all sat down to eat together. Daily tasks: The tasks were varied and tailored to our skill-set and interests but also the weather. If it rained Agne and Michele had tasks for us to do inside. Some examples include - building a workshop (digging holes, pouring concrete), removing old fencing, feeding and taking care of the animals, painting walls and furniture, tilling soil and planting seeds. Another handy aspect was that they provided us with clothing, boots, gloves etc. Location: The house is as at the top of a hill with a beautiful view of the valley and town below. The place was quiet and tranquil and on some days we could see snow on the surrounding mountain tops. We didn't have a car but had no issues getting around. There were train and bus stations both 10-15 minutes walk from the house. From there you can get to Arezzo in 30 minutes via train. There were also buses on a Sunday to Arezzo but limited to twice a day frequency. It was in a perfect location for travelling around to other parts of Toscana as well. Agne and Michele gave us some great recommendations. We were able to easily hire a car in Arezzo and see the beautiful hills of Siena, Perugia, Montepluciano and Therme di Saturnia to name a few. You can also visit Bologna by train or car.
