Description
Hi, my name is Mason Berube. I grew up in a small rural town in central Minnesota with a loving family and great community. I am motivated by local food systems, human-to-human interactions and pursuing one's sense of joy, happiness and truth. I am actively studying philosophies and ways of living. My connection to the natural world is what grounds me on a day-to-day basis.
I've been engaged in small scale agriculture for the past 4 years, particularly veggie farming. I have some experience with animal husbandry, taking care of a small herd of cows and chickens. Farm work brings a great sense of accomplishment and satisfaction to me. If you are seeking someone who can work well and get things done, I can be that person.
I am adventurous and love to explore. I'll spend hours in nature, hiking and swimming, I'll ride fast as I can down a hill on a longboard and I will gratefully take anyone up on surf lessons.
For myself, traveling is a beautiful way to learn about myself, other cultures and life itself. I am grateful for each opportunity that I am able to explore more of our wonderful world we all share. I've traveled throughout the Western US, visited Hawaii and visited a little bit of Canada recently. I'm excited to see more of our Earth and meet folks of varied and unique lifestyles~
I am traveling now to further my studies of other cultures, food systems and also to cultivate new language skills - learning spanish right now. There is a large spanish speaking community in my hometown and I wish to be able to learn the language as to be able to connect on a deeper level with my fellow spanish speaking people.
You can anticipate to find me with a book and journal alongside me in the early mornings or evenings. I value my time in solitude to reconnect to nature to ground myself and I also value time spent with good people in good places working towards a shared common goal. Teamwork makes the dream work and many hands make light work! Honesty and clear communication are two things I stand by as my guide to success in anything I do.
I am new to this platform and have not done a workaway before, however I have plenty of experience volunteering and working outdoors. Since 2023 I've been involved in a grassroots organization called 'Farm Buds'. This group gathers volunteers to visit a farm to do volunteer work, build community and support our local food systems. We typically camp out and share meals together as well. It's a great way to connect with others, participate in meaningful work and support those who ultimately support us, with their good work and food ~
I am planning to visit Costa Rica beginning this December and will plan to be there until end of February or very early March. If you think we'd be a good match, I'd love to connect and get to know you! Wishing you the best! -Mason
