it's was a nice experience staying in this hostel in Weligama! the owner is really kind and the job is really easy! also he is very flexible! the location is excellent, next to the bus station and two minutes from the beach ! thank u for a really good experience!

Simply great. Mel and Goeff are such great people that everyone might needs to know. Very gentle and nice, they hosted me as a family memeber. The land and the beach are amazing, so go there and let inspire yourself. I am very thankful to them for the happy time we spent together. Have a great time. Arrivederci!

I had an amazing experience with David and Lany back in April of 2025. They make you feel very welcome and a part of the community and their family. They're very open to feedback/suggestions/ideas and let you work on projects you are passionate about. You also get to be connected to the locals and the community in the village, as well as lots of free time to explore around the island. I would love to come back someday and see the changes in their little paradise. Thank you for your hospitality again David and Lany!

It was an absolute delight hosting Amira and her sister Yosra. Such lovely young women, The girls really fitted into the 'family' They powered through their daily tasks and then were free to enjoy the rest of the day. They had a car so were able to travel to beaches and other attractions. They also made the most of all of our wonderful local area. They loved meeting our local wildlife. They took part in possum and cat feeding, spoiling some of the cats. Even some of the scaredy cats were comfortable with them. Amira and Yosra also helped out by sharing their room with some tiny rescue kittens for a few days. I really hope that the girls will visit again at least when next in Australia.

We would welcome Renée back onboard any day.  Not only a thoughtful and enthusiastic hand with projects around the boat, her pleasant attitude and kind demeanor enhanced the atmosphere for all onboard.  For sure everyone aboard miss Renée's presence.  We wish Renée all the best and hope she finds some amazing and welcoming new opportunities for volunteering.  Anyone would be lucky to have Renée as a part of their projects.

I found Sarah and Henry's Workaway at exactly the right time for all of us, and I'm so grateful for my time in Asturias with them. I stayed for nearly two weeks, and as soon as I arrived I immediately felt completely at-ease in their company. The boys (Sam and Leo) were so funny, sweet, friendly and intelligent that it was a joy to spend time with them. We also had a lot in common (mainly Minecraft) so I got on extremely well with the whole family, and definitely miss being around so many lovely people. While I was there, I helped out with a range of household, garden, and animal care tasks. Sarah was wonderfully clear about all of the work that needed doing around the property, and then I had a huge amount of freedom to tackle whichever of these jobs I wanted to, and with how to approach them. I ended up chopping wood, attempting to rebuild walls, extending a compost bin and eventually building a tree platform for the boys, alongside helping around the house, spending time with the boys, and taking care of the animals. There's certainly plenty to do, and I had quite a few long days but my work was genuinely appreciated by the family, and it was a pleasure to to see some of their projects come to fruition. The schedule was very flexible dependant upon everybody's energy levels, the weather, and the family's work/school schedules, which helped keep things varied and manageable. I also explored Nava, Oviedo and Gijón during my stay, and had the opportunity to tag along with the family frequently, including a trip to Gijon's aquarium, taking the boys swimming in Nava, and visiting a Sidrería with Sarah :) The food was nutritious, varied and delicious, and the family also happily catered to my vegan diet for the duration of my stay, which I really appreciated. I stayed in a lovely private double room adjoining the family bathroom, and Sarah was very mindful of my space during my stay (eg. wouldn't enter my room without asking first) which was very considerate. I would absolutely recommend a stay here - I had a lovely break in Asturias and would gladly return. This workaway is perfect for people who love DIY, gardening, getting involved, and being outside, and would be especially good if you like animals. I am so grateful for the way this workaway played out on such short notice, and I have lots of fond memories of my time there. Thank you again, all of you. Hasta Luego <3

We love Ian and Monica, they stayed with us for about three weeks, and it was truly a pleasure to host them. They are kind, respectful, and hands-on, able to work independently while always being thoughtful and considerate. They took good care of the space and brought a calm, positive presence that made daily life together easy and enjoyable. We’re very grateful for their time with us and would happily welcome them back anytime

Had a great time here. The location is amazing, so many things to do and see and the view from the house in incredible! The work can be quite challenging, sanding floors or scraping paint, but you can also do other things and the jobs are part of renovating a house sustainably. I learned a lot, thank you Gabi, about Chilean culture and FOOD!! Will always remember the food. Muchas gracias Gabi & Sofi!!

Caro came to our rescue as a last minute host and right from the start, we knew we had found a perfect host. Caro has a heart of gold, and is a super positive person who loves to create a welcoming environment where you can really work to your strengths. Her philosophy is to provide simple clean accomodation in exchange for 2 hrs simple work and very much relies on your honesty and integrity, there is no micro managing by Caro, she's too busy with work, and for us it worked so well, allowing us to pick jobs and just get on with them; yes we had to ask questions occasionally but Caro always made time to clarify things. Thank you Caro for allowing us to share your home and laughter, it made Rotorua a very memorable place - hopefully we will meet again at your new place (if you ever get to move 😉)

It was my first volunteering experience through workaway and honestly I couldn’t have dreamed of a better one I would like to thank Tahsin to have make me feel at home . I met a lot wonderful people, shared a lot of memories and for sure I will come back 😉I just can highly recommend this place !

I had a lovely 3 weeks staying with Lydia and her friendly dogs. She is a very generous hostess. The room was very comfortable and the food amazing. The surroundings are beautiful with parks and the river nearby for nature walks. There was plenty of free time to go exploring with easy transport links to Brisbane and the Gold Coast.

Mon expérience avec cette famille en Martinique a été genial! J’ai vraiment aimé partager du temps avec eux : ce sont des personnes très gentilles, chaleureuses et accueillantes. Le lieu est incroyable, l’environnement ne pourrait pas être plus beau. Il est vrai qu’avoir une voiture est nécessaire pour se déplacer, mais cela en vaut vraiment la peine. Les horaires de travail et les tâches étaient très bien organisés, et je me suis toujours sentie à l’aise, respectée et très bien accueillie. Dès le premier jour, je me suis sentie bien. Je recommande vivement cette expérience. Meloïca et Frédéric ont été des bons hôtes , et je leur suis profondément reconnaissante. Je leur souhaite beaucoup de succès dans leur nouveau projet de bungalows au bord de la plage : je n’hésiterais pas une seconde à y séjourner et à le recommander. Merci pour tout

Desde su primer día que llegó a nuestro lugar siempre atentó a todo y dispuesto a colaborar con el hostel y ayudando en todo lo que necesitaban nuestros huéspedes. Fue un placer tenerte en nuestro amado lugar, podés regresar cuándo quieras y quién tenga el gusto de coincidir con Ky no lo duden. Deseamos que sigas cumpliendo tus sueños.

Staying with Graham and Anna was such a pleasure. They are lovely hosts and they go out of their way to make you feel at home. Their home is beautiful and the accommodation I had was perfect. I would not have any hesitation in recommending for anyone to stay there. Your stay will be a wonderful experience.

Marta and Michael stayed with us for a little over a month, and they were an absolute joy to host. 💛 Extremely helpful, proactive, and genuinely caring — we were truly sad to see them go. They took great care with every task we asked of them, from feeding the animals to watering plants. Communication flowed easily and clearly the whole time, which made everything feel smooth and supportive. We can’t recommend them enough to other hosts. We (and the animals!) miss you already 🐾🌱

I stayed with Meli and her family for a few months and felt like part of the family. I learned so much, and Meli was incredibly supportive and helpful. She and her family went above and beyond to make every person feel welcomed and encouraged to explore and connect with the community. Everyone forms a unique bond with this place, and I think it’s true what they say: you won’t have another experience like this in your life. Highlights: *Sunset walks to the river, where you can casually chat with cows, spot toucans, and return to the finca with a warm fire and beautiful humans. *Eating delicious food grown right here, honing my baking skills(I helped😅), and learning patience while maintaining a healthy, fulfilling routine. *Falling in love with the most charming pet siblings: Sunny, Chibi, Vigo, and Bigotes who completely stole my heart. If you’re looking to contribute to a family surrounded by furry friends, positive vibrations, and creative energy, please inquire.
