Kennedy and Miguel were very helpful pulling up invasive pine saplings, which sprouted after last year's forest fire. They also helped to chop and stack firewood for the coming winter months and improved some paths in the vegetable gardens. They are a very pleasant and polite couple to have around. Many thanks for all your help.

Julia stayed with us for a month in February and helped with the daily tasks at the shelter, motivated by her love for animals. She showed genuine interest in the animals, cared for them exceptionally well, and learned the daily tasks very quickly. In addition, she was cooperative and communicative with the other volunteers and met the demands of animal care while adapting to the shelter’s conditions. She is in excellent physical condition and was very eager to help carry food, clean the dog areas, and build makeshift shelters for them when needed. She showed love for the animals and tried to do her best for them, taking them on more walks and pointing out problems so we could intervene. With maturity, responsibility, and the desire to make the world a better place, we would welcome her back anytime and, of course, recommend her to any host.

Tatjana and Stefan were amazing. Tatjana created a beautiful artistic painting in our bungalow that truly brought a special soul to the place. Stefan has an incredible vision for outdoor design and is very efficient in everything he does, always using the right approach. They are a perfect and highly complementary couple. On top of that, they were super friendly and easygoing—we really enjoyed having them! Thank you guys 😊

¡Me encantaría volver a Imperia y visitarlos! Grazie mille 🌸

I really enjoyed my time in Tottori with Richard and crew. I spent about a month there and it really started to feel like home! Now that I am back in the states, I am missing it very much! The work consists of caring for two pigs, two goats, and numerous chickens. It was really sweet getting to see the animals every morning and see their unique personalities! Outside of animal care, tasks are varied, such as removing kudzu, building fences, cleaning, etc. It is a nice balance of routine and novelty. As a workawayer, you stay in an older Japanese house that is only a 4 minute walk away from the nearest train station. You can also walk to almost anything you need including a grocery store and the post office. You typically share the house with other workawayers which gives you a nice built in community to connect with. Richard also seems to have a knack for picking fun and interesting volunteers and I really enjoyed getting to know everyone! One thing I appreciate most was getting to interact with the local community. I speak a little bit of Japanese and it went a really long way in enabling me to talk with neighbors and some of Richard's local friends. I also found everyone around town to be very friendly and kind which helped Tottori feel like home. Richard himself is a very fun person who knows a lot about the area and has great recommendations for sight seeing or trips on days off. I also deeply appreciated that Richard was very prompt and thorough with his communications!

We stayed at Ines and Mathilde’s place for about two weeks and really enjoyed it! Both of them are great people. They cared a lot about our well-being and were great to spend some free time with. The work was well-organized and well-suited for us. Also, the accommodation is cozy and especially the shared space/kitchen is great to hang out in. I would warmly recommend a stay with Ines and Mathilde.

I had a wonderful first workaway experience with Judit! She was very welcoming and made me feel right at home. Even though my stay was near the end of winter, which is usually a quiet time in the village, Judit was very proactive about finding things for us to do. We hiked, biked, worked in the yard, visited the next town over for lángos and to meet her friend for a walk around the lake. It was lovely cooking together and conversation flowed easily, I learned a lot about Hungarian culture and politics. Overall, great week! Would definitely visit again, especially in the summer when it’s warm and everything is in bloom! Thank you for a memorable experience!

I really enjoyed staying with Michiko and her family. The work was easy and something I enjoyed doing, which is cooking dinner. On weekends, I enjoyed spending time with the family. Yasumori taught me how to make takoyaki, and Michiko taught me how to make so many incredible home cooked traditional Japanese meals. The house is in a lovely neighborhood near the main area of Matsumoto. They let me use their bike and everything is within a 15 minute bike ride. I really enjoyed exploring during the day. Be warned, in the winter it can get quite cold. Bring lots of layers if you're here in the winter months! I enjoyed going to the onsens with the family. I enjoyed the cultural exchange. Michiko was very curious about how life was in my hometown, and I asked her many questions about how life was in Japan. She is very honest and open minded, which I appreciated. Be prepared to learn how to cook in a kitchen that is not your own. It took me some time to learn how to use all the equipment and where everything was. I did enjoy learning how to make things i normally purchase, from scratch. I still make homemade tortillas and bread to this day! Michiko is a wears many hats. She runs the house, works part time, trains the cute dog, Pierre, is learning to become an English teacher, and much more. She can be quite busy. I wish I could have stayed longer to help out more. It was my first workaway experience and I enjoyed it deeply. It is often a highlight when I rely my trip to my friends and family.

I had read so many glowing accounts of people’s first Workaway experiences—but I truly feel I’ve just had the very best. From the moment I arrived, I was welcomed with open arms into this wonderful family and their charming French home, and I immediately felt at ease. Jean’s zest for life is infectious, bringing energy and joy to each day. Tanzi’s warmth and kindness shine through in everything she does—especially in the incredible meals she prepared for us, which were a daily highlight. The children are absolutely delightful: the nine-year-old daughter became both my French teacher and my yoga instructor, while their seven-year-old son kept me happily on my toes,on the basketball court and elsewhere. Life here was full of memorable moments—from lively visits to the bustling Saturday market and garden fair to joyful gatherings with neighbors. I especially loved spending time working in the vineyard and garden; it was deeply satisfying and gave me a real connection to the land. The surrounding countryside is stunning, and the weather during my stay could not have been more perfect. This experience has left a lasting impression on me. I will always cherish the memories and the genuine sense of belonging I found here. I highly recommend this to any Workawayer.

I had a great time in Aix en Provence! The home is beautiful and very close to the city of Aix, and Marseille only a 30minutes bus away! Lynn and her family are great communicators and very hospitable. She was flexible and I had much freedom to roam, and was able to pick my days off and make up for work hours on my own time! Many great meals.. and she always made sure we had what we needed! Thank you, Lynn!

Hi Caroline, thank you so much for having me. I really enjoyed my stay with you and all the other volunteers. Your school and work in this fishing village is so precious. I liked to work with the children mainly in their break time playing games and doing handicrafts. I appreciated it that we also had the possibility to decide by ourselves what to teach or play with the children. For sure we arranged things with Caroline but she was not always around so we had to be self-determined. We lived like in a shared house together where everybody had to be respectful to each other and act responsible. Lucky me we were a very nice group of volunteers! Caroline, you are such a kind person, letting us drive with your scooter, cooking very tasty for us, helping to arrange nice trips and you are always keen to bring your culture and way of life closer to your volunteers. I met some really nice friends of Caroline and hope to come back one day!! What a strong woman you are handling your school and many other activities in the village in such a relaxed way!! All the best to you and keep going to connect people!!!

This was my first Workaway experience and I couldn’t have asked for a better family to start with! My stay went really well from beginning to end. The work mainly involved gardening and small maintenance tasks. Everything was always explained in advance, so I always knew clearly what I had to do, which made the work very comfortable and enjoyable. Brian is very kind, patient and always happy to explain again if something is not clear. He makes sure you feel comfortable and included. He is very easy to talk to and creates a really relaxed and positive atmosphere. In the evening, you can enjoy the delicious meals Kerry prepares after a day’s work – always a real treat! The family has such a warm, positive and lively atmosphere, and there is always a lot of good humour in the house. I highly recommend this family to any Workawayer looking for a great first experience in Ireland, you won’t regret it!
