    Description

Home based help. A beautiful Armagnac estate in the rolling hills of the Gers, South-West France.

Hello and welcome to our home - Domaine de Berdine, a former Armagnac estate set in the valley of Saint-Martin-d’Armagnac, surrounded by nature, forest, and open countryside.

We are a family of four (plus our small dog 🐾) who moved from London last summer and are in the process of bringing this historic house and its 12 acres of land back to life. We’re looking for motivated, practical Workawayers who enjoy hands-on projects and life in nature.

    🏡 What we offer:
    • Private, comfortable bedroom
    • Cultural and skills exchange
    • Access to a 12-metre heated salt-water swimming pool
    • Food and drink provided
    • Shared meals, good coffee, well-earned beers, and French wine
    • A relaxed, friendly, and respectful atmosphere

We both work in hospitality and love cooking with seasonal, organic produce as much as we can, so good food is a big part of life here.

    🌿 The setting:

The domaine includes a private forest with its own lake (needs some tlc) - peaceful, rural environment ideal for anyone who enjoys nature, fresh air, and slowing down. Evenings are often spent sharing meals, talking through ideas for the land and house, and enjoying the calm of the countryside. However it's your own time so don't feel obliged. The nearest village is a 7 min drive away with a bars, bakery and restaurants and there's an active community centre in the village with Zumba, archery and other events!

Our aim is to create a special place - a place to reconnect with nature, learn new skills, and breathe.

If you’re practical, positive, and happy to help a minimum of 4-5 hours per day, 5 days a week with 2 days off in a row in exchange for food, accommodation, and a unique rural experience in South-West France, we’d love to hear from you.

Please note: we do not operate as a business and that Workawayers will only be helping with private tasks around our home.

Very friendly Lakeland terrier cross. She loves cuddles and belly tickles. Not so good meeting other canines but once she's met them she's fine and will probably just ignore them 😂
