We stayed with the family for a little over a month and had a wonderful experience. They were incredibly kind and welcoming. The location is only 10 minutes away by bike and is perfect for visiting larger cities such as Haarlem, Amsterdam, Leiden, Rotterdam, and even Utrecht. We had our own bikes, which made getting around very easy. Overall, it was a great pleasure to meet them and spend time with them!

I highly recommend this host! I had a very comfortable and relaxing two-week stay and truly enjoyed my time there. My main tasks were walking the dogs and cooking. Since I was really missing Japanese food, I felt nice to be able to cook Japanese meals for her—and I was so happy she enjoyed it! I also really enjoyed talking with her. Our conversations were fun, I learned many new things, and we shared some wonderful moments together. I already miss the two energetic and adorable dogs, as well as the two very friendly cats. I would love to visit again someday and am really looking forward to meeting again in Japan!

Dear Martina, The week I spent with you has truly become one of my greatest treasures. It was my first time in Europe, my first solo trip, and my first Workaway experience. Everything was new to me, and at the beginning I felt quite nervous. But in just one week, my life with you in Ried im Innkreis turned into an irreplaceable and beautiful memory. You prepared a warm and comfortable room for me, and every day you cooked fresh, healthy, and colorful meals. Our conversations were always fascinating. Through you, I not only learned more about Austria, but I also had the chance to reflect on and appreciate my own country more deeply. As a Workawayer, I mainly cleaned and organized the kitchen, living room, and cabinets. You always gave me clear instructions and provided the right tools, so I never felt confused or overwhelmed. Working together in the cozy room while listening to the radio was such a joyful and peaceful time for me. Finally, Martina, thank you so much for welcoming me into your home. When you smiled, it made me truly happy. The people around you are all so kind, and I believe that is because you are such a wonderful person. I sincerely hope to see you again someday. Please stay healthy and take good care of yourself. With love, Kiki

We spent three weeks there, which was very welcoming. You stay in a volunteer house (unfortunately, Mama J no longer works there, but she was the "mama" of the house and took care of everything we needed). Things to know: Although not mentioned in the post, it costs 10 USD per day (25,000TZS), which we think they should mention. We still recommend volunteering there. The team is very friendly and takes good care of the volunteers' wellbeing. Even when we went to a bar, they came with us to make sure we got the best treatment. The NGO (Ruth) arranged safaris and day trips for us at great prices, and some of this money goes to the NGO as income, so it's a win-win. Food is very basic with a lot of carbs and not much meat. But what made this place unforgettable were the other volunteers; they were amazing, and we are blessed to have been there at the same time as them. Bottom line: We highly recommend going there and supporting them.

Deana was our first workaway, and it was a wonderful experience. She only stayed with our family for a month, but we quickly became close and connected. She was able to connect with the children right away, playing with them and giving us great advice on how to care for them. Deana is sweet and sensitive, open to discussion and dialogue. I loved coming home to find cakes she had lovingly baked. She helped us a lot with the daily chores and tidying up our garden. We were a little saddened by her departure, but we are happy for her and that she has achieved her goals. Just one word: thank you, you will always be in our hearts.

Danial was a wonderful volunteer and a great support to our center. He taught English with dedication and enthusiasm, and he also created a very nice promotional video for us, which I truly appreciated. He is an active, sociable, and kind person. In our neighborhood, he was loved by everyone, especially the students. They enjoyed spending time with him because he always gave them attention, played with them, and spread happiness everywhere. I highly recommend Danial to any host on Workaway. Thank you, Danial, for your positive energy and all the great work you did. You will always be welcome here.

We stayed with Rita from 17 Jan until 7 Feb and can say without hesitation that she is as kind and friendly a host as anyone could possibly wish for. We were given very comfortable accommodation and ate well too, sharing our meals with Rita and sometimes her daughter Andrea and also other Workawayers. The tasks we were asked to perform were enjoyable and we were never asked to do anything beyond our capability. These included cleaning tasks, meal preparation, some basic DIY, and, best of all, harvesting fruit and nuts from the large plot of land surrounding the house. Rita’s home is situated in the outskirts of Olmué, the centre of which is within easy walking distance (about 30 minutes) and although only a small town we found it a pleasant place to spend our free time with several decent bars and restaurants. It is also easy to travel further afield to places like Valparaiso and Viña del Mar on the coast due to good public transport services. In summary we enjoyed our three weeks with Rita immensely and wouldn’t hesitate to return there should we find ourselves in Chile again in the future.

I stayed with Aurora and Francesco for more than two and a half weeks. Thanks to their optimism and endless smiles, every day went by very quickly. The work was very easy (a lot of painting), and I was always extremely happy about the delicious meals Aurora cooked. It was also a huge cultural experience for me, especially through the food I had the chance to try, but it also showed me a lot about the true Italian mentality. Thanks to that, I was able to rest properly and at the same time make the most of the environment. I went on trips by train and bus and explored local places. Francesco and Aurora were always there to help me with anything I needed. I am incredibly grateful and very thankful that I had the opportunity to become a local, at least for a little while.

We spent three weeks in january on the sanctuary and definitely recommend it! Although the weather was not on our side, we still had a nice time. Anni is a great host - kind, caring, and her entire heart beats for the animals. We loved listening to her stories! The work was physically demanding, but if you're fit and healthy good to manage. We had to feed and water the animals, pick up the poop and make sure everyone is okay. We helped building a fence and did some cleaning and painting jobs in the house. Sometimes we went on long walks with the dogs! The animals - we loved all of them. From the horses and donkeys to all these amazing dogs and cats. The sheeps and pigs liked to terrorize us, but we found our way to work amidst them😉 If you're there in the winter months, definitely pack some rain resistent clothes. Thank you Anni for the great time and maybe see you again in the future! :)

Wow! What a beautiful opportunity Phonephet gave us. We stayed for a week in February and could not have been happier with the experience. The people (family, locals & other volunteers) welcomed us in and we learnt so much. We taught English and helped to build a chicken house - there are a lot of exciting new projects happening so I think you will always have something to do. We had a lot of rest and recovery time which we very much appreciated, on top of eating amazing food three times a day. It has a beautiful location and lots of opportunity to explore the island by walking or bicycle to beaches, temples and through the beautiful village. The accomodation itself was basic but all we needed - a fan, double bed, hammock and gorgeous sunset views over the river. It was truly special to enjoy Island life through this Workaway and would highly recommend it.

This was our first workaway stay and it couldn’t have been better; what a wonderful meeting with Kath and Ross and what a great experience. The valley is a magical place: the garden and cob-buildings are so beautiful, the sunsets and the starry skies amazing. Kath and Ross made us feel comfortable from the start. The work at the farm was fun; feeding the chickens, picking fruit and veggies and processing them, cleaning seeds, watering the succulents in the nursery and actually the whole garden as it was very dry when we were there, and welcoming new guests at the guest cottage. Food was delicious; Kath is a great cook. We have learned more about what it is like to live self-sufficiently and as sustainable as possible. The only downside was that it was too short! Thank you for having us. It was absolutely amazing. We would love to come again.

Alex was our first Workawayer, and she was fantastic! From the first day she arrived until the last, she brought a calm, positive energy that both we and the students really connected with. When she left, we missed her greatly, and the students did too. She was great with classes, and she helped our students feel comfortable when speaking while giving thoughtful corrections without making anyone feel nervous, and she always kept the energy friendly and encouraging. She’s also very easygoing and respectful to live and work with. On a personal level, Alex also taught my wife and me a lot, from healthier eating habits, meditation, and just small daily mindset shifts that actually make a difference. She’s a kind-hearted person with a really refreshing way of seeing the world, and she’ll always be welcome back here anytime!

What a pleasure it is to host Pierre! He communicated very well before arrival and fit right into the house like family. He is always kind and helpful and very diligent with all the the tasks he undertakes. He was a lovely presence around our house and all the housemates adored him! We were able to take a two week holiday and entrusted him with looking after everything in the house and the listing and he did an amazing job at managing everything while also keeping us updated. We feel so lucky and privileged to have him come stay with us! We would highly recommend Pierre to other hosts and would be delighted if he ever wished to return to London! Thank you - Pierre! We spend two wonderful weeks at the animal shelter and are very grateful for our time there. Alice loving and open-hearted nature made us feel welcomed the second we arrived and we had lots of fun caring for the animals. We worked for 5-6 hours a day, depending on what tasks we got assigned and if everything went as planned. The work was mainly focused on feeding the animals and keeping their cages and coops clean, but sometimes we completed other tasks, like building a compost. We really enjoyed working with the animals, as they're all lovely and the work pays off when you see how happy they are. Alice was always appreciative of our work and was reachable if we had any questions. It rained quite a lot, which can make the work a bit uncomfortable at times, but never for a longer period of time and our clothes dried good. Over the two weeks, we stayed first in the wooden house and then in the big caravan, both comfortable and cozy accommodations. There is no heating and it can get cold at night, but we had multiple blankets and Alice always made sure we were warm, plus we had a nice shower with hot water and a toilet nearby. Alice provided us with basic groceries, such as pasta, bread, fruit and vegetables, yoghurt and even cookies and we could always ask if we needed something else. Additionally, Alice cooked for us almost every evening, the food was heavenly and gave us the great opportunity to taste the Italian/Sardinian cuisine :) If you love animals and like to spend time outside, Sardinia is beautiful and has a lot to offer and we can strongly recommend this place. Despite staying in the rain season, we had an enjoyable and memorable time at the Refugio. Alice is a great host, we felt always welcome, she made time for our questions and concerns, was open for lovely conversations and was thankful for our work! Thank you so much Alice and Guiseppe, for having us and for making our experience unforgettable 💕

Nia stayed with me and my family for about one month. She helped prepare food and with various household tasks. She is very patient, easy to get along with, and seems much older than she is. It was a pleasure having her.

He's a very skilled craftsman, works independently and gets stuff done. She's super nice. Both good cooks. Their son is super sweet. Nice music/sound jams with all 3.

Helene and Johnny's time with us was very unexpected. We were caught short on a task and they decided to fit us into their busy schedule for two days. They fitted in seamlessly, being very amenable, easy to host, hard working and willing. They got stuck into tasks with gusto, helped with evening meals, contributed well within our little group and were just lovely gentle and polite people. I would recommend them highly to other workawayer hosts. Thanks for coming at a moment's notice and helping out. They were only here a short time but it really did make a difference and we totally appreciated it.
