    Description

    Hi Workawayers!

We've just moved into a delightful old victorian house in a well connected part of East London. We will be doing a bit of work to the house for the next 6 months and are looking for someone to help with some small DIY projects (painting, light carpentry, stripping paint, fixing some plubming) as well as a bit of house keeping and general gardening.

We have a single room available for you to stay in with a comfy bed with brand new mattress, and a small wardrobe and desk. There is super fast broadband and of course you have access to all the communal areas of our house! If we're a good fit then we would be very happiest to host you for a few months but would happily consider shorter stays of 2-4 weeks too. We would expect 5 hours of help a day for about 5 days a week (ie 25 hours per week) but are very flexible in terms of of when you undertake the tasks etc.

Of course - you will be staying in London - one of the most exciting cities in the world and with the flexible hours you will have opportunity to explore everything in london that interests you!

You'll be living in a mixed scottish-pakistani household in a very diverse and exciting part of London. We are keen cooks and if you want to learn how to cook Indian and chinese food we would be delighted to have you join us! We also rent one of our rooms so we often have travellers from all over the world staying who you can interact with. We also regularly host dinner parties and bbqs with our friends and you'd always be welcome to join us and widen your circle of friends in London!

We have been hosting workawayers for over a year now and have made wonderful friends many of whom have stayed with us for many months before moving on to their next adventure :)

    Please note:
Although workaway is not intended to introduce wokers to employers, and we are not an operating busiess or company, due to post Brexit regulations Workaway have requested that we offer a wage to those with a right to work in the UK who are offering professional services. We will therefore be wililng to offer the London living wage of £12 per hour if you have specific professional skills that our suited to our needs and are looking for paid work. Although Workaway encourages shared meals as a way to enjoy a cultural exchange, if we will be paying a wage, then we would ask Workawayers to be responsible for their own food expenses and make a contribution towards their accommodation. If you are looking for a paid position please do provide us with details of your right to work in the UK, any appropriate qualifications and references as well as your expecations of hours and wage and contriubtion towards accommodation cost in your initial message so that we can establish your suitability for paid employment.

We will be doing a bit of work to the house for the next 6 months and are looking for someone to help with some small DIY projects (painting doors, upcycling furniture, installing cladding in the hallway, building some alcove shelves and bin shelters etc) as well as a bit of house keeping and general gardening.

Any genreal DIY/carpentry/woodwork experience would be super helpful to us but we'd also love to hear from you if you're a creative time and have a knack for sewing or upholstery!

We also would like some help in building a garden shed and attaching ceiling architraves as well as sanding and repainting doors! Essentially, there is a long list of things to do in the house so whatever your skills are I'm sure we can find a fit!

We often like to cook in the evenings and you would be welcome to join us for dinner. Some of our previous workawayers preferred to do a weekly shop with us for groceries so you're able to prepare and eat what you like to eat at a time of your choosing!

We're very laid back and social people. We often have friends visiting and are away for weekend trips etc. We would love for you to enjoy your time in London as you please but are always on hand to offer tips and advice!

The house is 5 mins from walk from Forest Gate station which is on the new elizabeth line. You can get to central london in about 30mins by metro or by bike! The house itself is really lovely and we are really enjoying living here even though there are lots of odd jobs that still need doing!
