We spent a month and a half with Jan and Jeanette, and it was a wonderful experience. From the moment we arrived, we felt at home and part of the family. The accommodation was fantastic: we had our own room and a private bathroom, which made our stay very comfortable. Our main tasks involved painting and working in the garden. It was very rewarding to learn new skills and see the results of our work come to life. For one week, we also looked after their lovely dogs, Baby and Lola. They are the sweetest: well-behaved, cheerful and playful. Spending time with them and taking them for walks was so much fun and definitely one of the highlights of our stay. Jan and Jeanette are wonderful hosts. It never really felt like a Workaway experience, but rather like helping friends or family. We mainly worked with Jan, who always gave clear instructions while also allowing us plenty of flexibility and independence to approach tasks in our own way and even suggest ideas. One of the best parts of each day was enjoying Jeanette’s delicious lunches. She’s an amazing and creative chef! Finally, Ostuni is a beautiful area with plenty to explore, from scenic walking trails to nearby towns easily accessible by train. We were also able to borrow bikes and discover the surroundings, which we really appreciated. We were sad to leave and would love to come back again someday.

Lorenzo stayed with us for four weeks and supported us a lot in our daily life on the farm. His main tasks included cutting wood and helping in the garden, especially with digging and preparing the soil. He completed all tasks carefully, reliably, and with great attention to detail. Lorenzo is a very calm, polite, and considerate young man who integrated well into our daily routine. It was always easy and pleasant to have him around. We especially appreciated how well he got along with our son. It was a wonderful experience for him to have a young male presence in the house – almost like having a “big brother.” Overall, our time with Lorenzo was very positive, and we can definitely recommend him as a Workawayer.

These two adapted very well to life out here in the village and found interesting ways to contribute to our various types of work going on, including gardening, construction, and social media videos. Mobina also graced us with her guitar playing and singing most nights. I am glad they proved to be mature and responsible volunteers while they stayed here.

I had a nice experience volunteering with Juliette. From the moment I arrived at her place in Araia, I felt welcomed into her peaceful home on the mountain, surrounded by nature and her group of rescue dogs. The main project I helped with was stabilizing a slope where the soil had started to crumble near the house terrace. It was practical work, and I appreciated being involved in finding solutions together with Juliette. In addition to that, I also helped with smaller maintenance tasks in and around the house. One of the highlights of my stay was learning from Juliette about dogs. Her knowledge, patience, and genuine connection with animals are truly inspiring. Juliette is flexible and easygoing which made the whole exchange feel natural, especially because it was first time for me. Thank you, Juliette, for your kindness and for sharing your home!

It has been a great pleasure to have Damián here for 2 weeks. Very grateful that he wanted to come to us and our place and it feels like a gift to get to know him and we are super grateful for all the good help he has given us! Damián is a charming young man with a big and caring heart! He is smiling, independent, cheerful, social, easy-going, pleasant, sporty, caring, helpful, interested, willing to work, considerate and strong! Fascinating that a young man from Chile wants to come all the way to northern Norway and we are very happy that Damian's dream of seeing the aurora and reindeer came true while he was here. We had some language challenges which we solved by "talking with the whole body". Damián was good at asking if something was unclear. He performed all work tasks in an excellent, careful and fast manner. All work done outside to prepare variously for frost and snow coming any day. Road sticks were placed, stones were moved to make a future ramp at a terrace, sand was taken from the shore, several wheelbarrow loads of seaweed were placed in the potato fields, he chopped wood for days in pouring rain, fortunately under a party tent roof, wood was piled in our new wood shed and some in sacks, piles of material were swept free of leaves, sorted and tarpaulins laid over them, leaves removed from roof trusses, the fire pit was emptied of ash, many different things on the property were moved on to name some of the tasks we were lucky enough to get good help with. We had many nice and interesting conversations and there was also a lot of laughter. Incredibly cozy that he wanted to row a trip with our little boat, for over an hour he enjoyed himself on a quiet sea in the sunset. We had several nice moments by the fireplace, we chatted, smiled, admired the aurora that danced so beautifully in the sky countless times. Another very nice thing was that we could also be quiet together. Being together without having to talk all the time is also a nice thing to do together, and which you can't do with just anyone. He orientated himself quickly in the area here, took bus here and there, went on different hikes and took bus to Kvaløya to go reindeer hunting. And indeed he found reindeer. Impressive! Exciting to see him maneuver his drone, there were many file films and pictures we were lucky enough to get from him. The last workingday turned out pretty wet and funny. We really needed to removed leaves from the creek behind the cabin. In pouring rain we did this together while singing "singing in the rain". We were both wet and sweaty after the work done, but still happy and smiling. We agreed that we will hardly forget this situation. 2 weeks passed quickly, far too quickly. Dear Damian, we miss you! As we talked about, we hope to see each other again. Thank you so much for even inviting us to Chile! Lucky are those who get to meet this handsome young man and get help from him! All the best from Erling and Tone :)

Mark was here for 10 days. Each and everyday would be described as his "work was above and beyond the call of duty". He worked way longer hours than we agreed to and is a wizard in what he can do. He finds the problem, researches how to remedy the problem, gathers the needed supplies and tools. then does and impeccable job and fixes what's wrong. He is welcome back anytime.

Surely one of the most enriching experiences of our journey. Sokhorn, with his big heart and remarkable determination, built this small school just three years ago, giving the children of Thma Koul access to English classes that previously did not exist in the village. It is a beautiful example of commitment that deeply touched us. From the very first days, we felt the sincerity and authenticity of this place. We quickly felt comfortable there. Our mission was to interact with the children to encourage them in English, but also to share our culture and, above all, to entertain them with new activities. We were warmly supported by the teachers throughout our stay. Sokhorn and his family kindly welcomed us into their home. They took care of us every day and shared their culture with great generosity. Between traditional meals, discussions about the country’s history and how it functions, visits to important places (Battambang and its surroundings), and simple shared moments, we were fully immersed in a powerful and unforgettable local experience. We leave this experience feeling enriched, and above all, with the feeling of having found a second family. Saying goodbye was heartbreaking, which shows how strong the bonds we created within this school truly are. already missing this incredible family ... We wish you lots of happiness and success for the future. Jeanne & Esther

My experience here far exceeded my expectations. It was my first workaway and I loved everything from the accommodation to the meals to the type of work. My own room with my own walk in shower (though slightly cold at times) and beautiful balcony overlooking the coffee farm and rolling hills was a peaceful place to watch the sunset with a cup of tea. Steps away was the full kitchen where I served breakfast to the airbnb clients and chatted about local hikes and birdwatching. Getting to spend time in the butterfly house each day was a real treat, whether giving tours to visitors or helping the breeders with their tasks. I always had delicious food but also walked into town (about 20 minutes) on occasion to go out to eat. The gardens surrounding the property are spectacular. Overall everyone is very friendly and there's always something that needs doing. Thanks to Emily for being such a wonderful host and I hope to return to Boquete in the near future 😀

Our whole family really enjoyed hosting Juanes. He was an enthusiastic visitor and helped in so many ways. Cooked some great meals too but mostly so thoughtful and loved life

While he was with us, he volunteered for various activities. For example, he helped out with cooking for dinners and lunches, with green building projects, and with harvesting capers. He is a very capable and honest person, eager to learn new things and take on new challenges. A very friendly and professional company.

We had the pleasure of hosting Marius for two weeks, and it was a wonderful experience from start to finish. Marius proved to be an exceptional guest who contributed significantly to our household during his stay. Marius demonstrated a particular passion and skill for gardening. He took initiative in pruning our fruit trees and preparing our fruit bushes for the upcoming season, completing all tasks independently without requiring any supervision. His work was thorough and professional, and we're grateful for his expertise. Beyond gardening, Marius was helpful around the house, regularly assisting with kitchen duties such as cleaning dishes. He showed genuine interest in our family life and was remarkably considerate—he patiently tried all the dishes Dorota prepared, and even took the time to cook for us. When preparing meals, he thoughtfully considered our children's preferences and made delicious pancakes. What made Marius's stay particularly enjoyable was how well we connected. We discovered surprisingly many common interests and had engaging conversations throughout his visit. At the same time, Marius was respectful of our need for privacy and personal space, striking the perfect balance between being sociable and giving us time to ourselves. Marius was consistently polite, considerate, and a pleasure to have in our home. We wholeheartedly recommend him to any potential hosts and would be delighted to welcome him back in the future.

Twam and Romy spent 4 weeks with us. Twan was very hard working, had a huge variety of skills and knowledge and was able to turn his hand to pretty much anything! His work was tidy. fast and very accurate. He is creative and aesthetically smart. He was always looking to recycle and upcycle stuff wherever possible reducing waste and cost! A great attitude to getting stuff done! Romy was busy with her own work, but always made a point of helping with the kitchen and house work. The pair were intellegent smart and witty.... we spent many long evening playing games, laughing, learning and enjoying eachothers company. Jojo worshipped them as they took her on many long walks and runs!!!!! The acid test is would we have them again ....ABSOLUTELY!!!!

Paul was a great host. Very flexible and accommodating. We got on really well and worked well together at times. Unfortunately Jess was not there, but he spoke highly of her. The chores we had to do were not too strenuous, but there was enough to keep us working Paul required us to do. If Paul needs workawayers again I wouldn't hesitate in advising you to help him out. you will enjoy yourself.

You are very sociable, open to learning new things, and affectionate with people and animals. I hope to see you again in the future. A big hug! 😃✌️

We had such a wonderful time staying with Cintia. From the very beginning, she made us feel welcome and comfortable, just like being at home. She is incredibly kind, friendly, and easy to communicate with. We truly enjoyed spending time with her and really appreciated her positive energy and hospitality. This experience was very special for us, and we’re grateful for everything. We would definitely recommend staying with her to anyone! Thank you so much, Cintia, for everything 💛

Emma & Elsa took great care of our dog, Mahlo, and our home. The girls were easy to communicate with and gave us regular updates on Mahlo, which we loved! I'm sure Mahlo will miss you both very much, and we hope you can visit again soon! Thank you so much for everything you did.

I stayed here in Máncora for 7 days, where I also had the chance to teach yoga once or twice a day. The hotel is ideally located in a quiet area, yet still within walking distance to both the beach and the main road, which makes it very convenient. The property truly embraces its eco-friendly philosophy, which adds to the overall peaceful and conscious atmosphere. Tania, the host, is incredibly welcoming and makes you feel at home from the moment you arrive. The yoga studio is calm area with all the props needed (blocks, bolster, belts, encents etc). I would recommend this place to travelers looking for a relaxing and authentic stay in Máncora. (note March is a warm month, the main road needs maintenance to be done therefore there is a certain amount of dust in the area). Any questions feel free to reach out.
