I don't think words can sum up the experience I had here at El JardÍn. Working along side Flor, Gabo and baby Tao has been a blessing to me. Their kindness, flexibility, and trust creates an atmosphere of love and play that fules the work that needs doing. If you are thinking about spending time in Puerto Escondido El JardÍn is the place to be. Thank you to the community and land!

Sven was with us for six weeks. He is a very pleasant individual and was a big help to our Sanctuary Manager, Daren. He and Daren set up our mobile catch pen shortly after he arrived but unfortunately due to high winds that kept blowing the gate closed, we didn't actually catch any donkeys while he was here. However, Sven did get some "action" when he helped bring in an abused donkey in our trailer. He also helped Daren treat the Sanctuary donkeys for external parasites and helped control them for their castration surgery. We were grateful for Sven's help and would welcome him back any time.

Amelia & Finlay are an amazing couple we are glad to have met. During their stay they were friendly, proactive and respectful. They were helping us a lot in our garden and future home. They were so lovely to Mateo and were helping us as well with him. I really appreciate the time they spent with us. For us it was very special that they were staying with us, as they became part of the family. They will have forever part in this big dream we are building together. Thank you again! We appreciate it so so much!

Adrià & Judith were an absolute pleasure to host. From the moment they arrived, they were friendly, respectful, and easy to have around. They approached every task with a great attitude and genuine care, whether it was improving the rabbit enclosure, helping with caravan renovation, collecting materials for the wetland project, or assisting with animal care. They worked well together, stayed motivated, and were always happy to get involved. Beyond the work, they were fantastic company. We shared some great meals and conversations, and they brought a really positive, relaxed energy to the place. They were tidy, considerate, and made the most of their time here while also contributing meaningfully to the property. I’d happily recommend Adrià & Judith to any future host—they’re exactly the kind of people that make the Workaway experience so rewarding.

Savannah was our first workaway stay of 2026 and what an amazing start to the year for us this was 💖 We were delighted to host for an extended stay of nearly 2 months and our whole family enjoyed the experience so so much from start to finish. When we met on video call it felt like we hit it off well and the conversation was relaxed and easy and this was how things continued to roll on so smoothly during the stay. I happily commited to Savannah’s stay a good few months in advance because of her commitment and the two glowing references she was able to provide me from work in Australia.. it became very apparent in her stay with us as to how incredably true every positive word said was about her. ✨💫 Savannah was our youngest workaway helper and she really seemed to naturally adapt and fit into our family day to day life so well, very much becoming and feeling part of it. Savannah had no trouble picking up and adapting to our help requirments within the first few days and always took the work on with an extremelly positive attitude all throughout the stay. Nothing was a problem, always punctual, reliable and flexible with our day to day routines. I always felt the sense that she was there for me if I needed help, often checking in with me when familiy life was busy and asking me what I needed or even been one step ahead of me already. We all became very good friends but what was extra special about this stay was that Savannah managed to build a really positive friendship with our teenage son who can sometimes keep to himself these days. I really want to praise her amazing natural abililty and talent to connect with this age group and I can definetly see this been a future career pathway. Always super chillied energy, relaxed, fun, great humour but with sensible and lovely calm bounderies. We really appreciated so much that she went above and beyond in taking an active interest in our son’s sports hobbies and making connections with him though this. She spent time on her weekends at his rugby games, which I know really ment a lot to him I could easily keep going a few more paragraths of lovely things to say but I hope this review gives enough positive feeback that she deserves to be considered for any future workaway roles. We wish you all the best on your exciting travel adventures Savannah and we feel very privilaged to have been part of your journey. We really hope to see you again in the future, your always welcome anytime to visit us. Keep in touch!

Flavia was a genuine pleasure to host. She was always willing to get involved across a wide range of tasks, including farm work, fencing, painting, gardening, and helping around the house. Her attitude was consistently positive, and she approached everything with care and reliability. Beyond her work, Flavia was a lovely person to have around. We shared some great meals and conversations, and she contributed to a really enjoyable atmosphere during her stay. She was respectful, easygoing, and great company. I’d happily recommend Flavia to anyone considering hosting her in the future.

Grace was fun to host for a couple weeks. She is an avid birdwatcher and drew our attention to the skies - always a wonderful place to look. She helped with cooking group meals, cleaning, sifting compost, tilling gardens, pruning trails, and was generally enjoyable to discuss the world with. I sincerely hope our paths cross again. She is a very sweet person, and her stay truly exemplified Workaway's commitment to cultural exchange.

Pierce was a joy to have around. He has a positive, can-do attitude and is a pleasant conversationalist. During his visit he helped with trail work, preparing gardens for the season, sifting compost, cooking meals, and some painting. We are hoping to see him again in June!

From the first message she sent me, I knew Lucía was the perfect candidate to spend a couple of weeks at my house, and she didn't disappoint. A girl with a great personality, a great sense of humor, a big heart, and intelligence. She did every task I asked her to do perfectly, and if she took a day off for a hike or shopping, she made up for it the next day with a job that was always done well. I'll always be grateful that she spent the whole day cooking for my birthday party, something she decided to do without me even asking. She also won over my friends with her special personality. In short, a force of nature, someone worth getting to know.

What can I say? My three-week trip to Tanzania was absolutely amazing. If you are hesitating, I can only tell you to go for it 100%. I learned so much about local life during my stay. A special thanks goes to Martha, who showed me around Arusha and took me to places like Materuni Waterfalls. Martha is very open-minded and made me feel at home from the day I arrived. The food was always very tasty! I was also very lucky to book a 7-day Kilimanjaro tour and a 4-day safari through her organization. For me, the combination of experiencing local life and joining these more touristic activities was simply perfect. By the end of the trip, I almost started to feel like a local myself, especially after going into the city alone, buying groceries at the local market, and even bargaining prices. 😅🙈 This was my first workaway experience, so I was unsure what to expect. However Martha is very responsive and answers all your questions in advance very quick. The communication was just perfect and everything went smoothly. Regarding the work: Martha allows you to work very flexible and you can arrange work as you like. For me it consisted mostly of taking, evaluating and editing the pictures during Kilimanjaro and Safari. I can only express my deepest gratitude to Martha and her family for this beautiful experience. I will always carry these memories in my mind and in my heart. Thank you so much, Martha!

—— ——————————————————————————————————————————— I had an amazing experience at the Hostal , where I stayed for six months and 20 days as a volunteer, and which truly ended up feeling like a second home. My main tasks were cleaning, which were simple and well organized, making the work fair and easy to manage. But beyond that, what really made this experience special was the atmosphere at the hostel. From the very beginning, I felt comfortable and surrounded by wonderful people. The team of volunteers is incredible, and there’s a very international, warm, and friendly vibe full of moments you carry with you long after you leave. I would especially like to highlight Jona, the manager, and José Luis, the owner, who made everything even easier. They are both very kind, respectful, and always willing to help. Communication with José Luis was always clear and smooth, which I truly appreciated and which created a great sense of trust. Honestly, I have nothing negative to say. It has been a very enriching personal experience—one of those that help you grow and that you remember with great affection. I would definitely recommend this place, both for volunteering and for staying as a guest. The surroundings are beautiful, the atmosphere is amazing, and the staff is incredibly welcoming. Without a doubt, it’s a place I would love to return to.

Julia and Joep have been really warm, welcoming and organized hosts. People you can only wish for when travelling. I stayed four weeks on their peaceful campground at the end of dry season. While working hours were mostly physically demanding, you could also find your own pace. Working alongside Joep I was able to help with excavating water escapes, landscaping with stones and soil, split stones for a foundation, cleaning parts of the water filtration system, or just smaller maintenance tasks. There was always clear communication. Once in contact, everything is well explained. Julia and Joep are a very intelligent couple, always willing to share their knowledge with you. And Barichara and the surroundings are just stunning throughout. Can highly recommend.

I stayed with Christiaan for 6 weeks. I was alone for the first 2 weeks, and then a friend of mine joined us. They were truly amazing 6 weeks. We rode horses in the snow, sledded with the horses, skied, and walked the dogs through beautiful nature where it was completely silent. We also helped trim the hooves, and we were even allowed to try one hoof, which was quite difficult but very interesting to do. My friend and I also went to the town of Trontheim for a day by bus; it is a lovely town. The day usually started around 10 o'clock with breakfast, consisting of homemade bread and jam. After that, we fed the horses. Then we usually went for a nice walk with the dogs and perhaps did some grocery shopping. When we came back, we usually went horseback riding or skiing. Then, around 5 or 5:30, lunch. Then it was time again to feed the horses and get ready for the evening. After that, I usually watched a movie with my friend, cuddled with the dogs, or played Pioné. Usually, around 10 or 11 o'clock, we had a nice dinner, and Christiaan always made something tasty. Around midnight, you go on your last round to feed the horses. Then a nice cuddle with the dogs and a good night's sleep. The times might be a bit different than you're used to, but you'll get used to that too. I definitely recommend coming to help out at Christiaan's place. Because the animals, the silence, and the beautiful nature are amazing, and Christiaan is also a very good host. I hope we can come back again, but in the summer.tank you fore everything Best regards, Krista and Hasse

Oh, how I miss this place and the wonderful human beings and the sound of the sea with the scent of fresh Rosmary. Jenn, Vico and Amaru are truly some very special beings that have the gift to make you feel like a family member from day one. This experience will hold a very special place in my heart and I would love to go back one Day, for sure.

I stayed here for two months at the beginning of the year and it was the best volunteering experience I've had so far. This is truly a paradise where you can recharge, grow, learn to trust humanity again and it's a safe space to embrace your femininity. I volunteered here and I had the opportunity to learn a lot about syntropic forestry, sustainable living and community life. The work started at 8 or 10:00 (when joining yoga class) and continued until the afternoon. We collected branches, mulched the syntropic lines, pruned aromatic herbs, made compost, digged in the water irrigation systems and planted seeds, trees and some plants like the aeonium ( a favorite of mine!). The donkeys and alpacas were to be fed by us every day and towards the end about 40 sheep got a new home as wellll! Each week we harvested some fresh fruit and veggie produce for the kitchen, how wonderful to be able to do that. There are loads of edible herbs and flowers to pick on the domain if you're into phytotherapy or edible plants. The food was delicious, colourful and nurturing and the daily yoga classes were a perfect way to devote myself to more self love and develop a healthier, deeper mind-body connection. I think the biggest things I've learned during these two months are how there are still places in the world where people more genuinely care for each other, where true kindness and happiness are dominant and where people express and create without it being a competition but for the sake of enjoyment, connection and to be in a flowing state and that friendships and interpersonal relationships can make life so much more beautiful and worth living<3 My confidence in others and myself has come back :) Thanks again to Vidya and all the other members. Namasté!!!!

Roos is a great companion. Unfortunately she came here when a dishwasher was broken but she faced it like a heroine. She is very good with animals, beloved by kids, useful helper with construction projects and always ready to help. We really enjoyed chattting with Ross about everything, specially her adventures in South America. Thank you for everything Roos and see you next time. :))
