Welcome to Tanzania Where Culture, Nature and Community Connect
Hi Workawayers!
My name is Martha, a mother and entrepreneur based in Arusha, northern Tanzania, a peaceful city surrounded by beautiful landscapes, Mount Kilimanjaro and many cultural attractions.
A few years ago, I started my small, eco conscious tourism company with the dream of using responsible tourism to support local communities. A portion of our profits helps children in need with school supplies, uniforms and classroom improvements.
We work with local professionals, including safari and mountain guides, porters and cooks, who are paid for their work. As the founder, I manage the company's marketing and administration.
What you can help with
I welcome Workawayers who enjoy sharing their skills, learning about Tanzanian life and taking part in a genuine cultural exchange. I am particularly looking for help with:
Photography and short videos
Social media content and creative ideas
Website improvements
Blogging and storytelling
Fundraising ideas for our farm and school projects
Informal English practice and creative activities with local youth
This is a cultural exchange, not formal employment. Tasks will be discussed in advance and agreed according to your skills and interests. Workawayers do not replace paid local staff.
Important: Helping with our online content does not require participation in, or payment for, any tours or trips. Workawayers are never expected or encouraged to purchase services from my company as part of the exchange.

You can learn Swahili and discover Chaga and Maasai cultures through everyday life, conversations, local food and community interactions. We can share knowledge about Tanzanian traditions, introduce you to local markets and suggest places to explore around Arusha, including waterfalls, hot springs and nearby natural attractions.
There will also be opportunities to share meals with my family, learn about our way of life and exchange ideas and experiences.
Any independent travel or personal outings are entirely your choice and are separate from the cultural exchange. -
Help
We are looking for Workawayers with skills and interests in photography, short video creation, social media content, website improvements, blogging and fundraising ideas for our community projects.
You can use your own phone for photography and videos, and I can provide access to a computer for editing and writing. We welcome your creativity, ideas and suggestions to help us improve our online presence.
All tasks will be agreed in advance. Creating content does not require Workawayers to join or pay for any tours, safaris, hikes or other trips. -

Arusha is a wonderful place to experience Tanzanian life, with local markets, nearby mountains, beautiful landscapes and opportunities to learn about different cultures. You can discover local food, interact with community members and learn about Maasai and Chaga traditions.
Public transport includes buses and minibuses, while taxis and other local transport options are also available. I can share general information to help you understand the area and plan your own free time activities. -
