Welcome to Tanzania Where Culture, Nature, and Community Connect

    Hi Workawayers!

My name is Martha, a 32 year old mother and entrepreneur based in Arusha, northern Tanzania a peaceful city surrounded by iconic landmarks like Mount Kilimanjaro, the Serengeti, and Ngorongoro Crater. It’s a wonderful place for anyone seeking meaningful travel experiences rooted in nature and culture.

A few years ago, I started my own small, eco-conscious tour company with the dream of using responsible tourism to empower local communities. We organize personalized safaris, cultural tours, hikes, beach holidays, and Swahili language classes. A portion of our profits supports education for children in need, including school supplies, uniforms, and classroom upgrades.

We currently have 3 permanent staff members and work with around 20 contracted local professionals, including mountain and safari guides, porters, and cooks, all of whom are paid fairly and operate under Tanzanian labor laws. As the founder, I personally manage the company’s marketing and administration.

What You Can Help With (As a Cultural Exchange)

We welcome Workawayers as temporary volunteers who can share their skills, learn from our community, and help support our sustainable efforts — but not to replace any local staff. We are particularly looking for help with:

Digital content creation (photos, short videos, social media posts)

    Website improvements

Blogging or storytelling (sharing your experience here!)

Online fundraising ideas for our farm and school projects

Sharing English or creative skills with local youth (optional and informal)

This is a cultural exchange, so your contributions will be flexible, creative, and appreciated — not treated as formal employment. In return, we offer:

    What We Offer You

Free accommodation and delicious home-cooked local meals

A chance to explore our region: waterfalls, hot springs, markets, and more

Opportunities to join safaris or hikes at local/shared costs

Genuine cultural immersion with Maasai, Chaga, and other local communities

A meaningful experience where you’ll see your impact firsthand

Whether you're a digital nomad, a storyteller, or simply a kind soul who wants to connect with new people and places, we’d love to welcome you into our home and project.

Karibu Sana (You are very welcome),
    Martha
