Noam stayed with us for almost four weeks and was a truly valuable help throughout her time here. She took on the responsibility of caring for the cat house, including daily cleaning, feeding, and spending time socializing with the cats. She made sure the space was always clean, organized, and comfortable, and she gave the cats the attention and affection they need, which made a noticeable difference. With the dogs, Noam was involved in cleaning the kennels and outdoor areas, assisting with their general care, and taking them out for walks. She handled these tasks reliably and with great care, always making sure the animals felt safe and well looked after. Noam is a real ray of sunshine. She has a genuine love for animals and treats them with patience, kindness, and respect. At the same time, she is very communicative, easy to be around, and always open to learning new things and improving her skills. She is an excellent team player who quickly connects with others and contributes positively to the group dynamic. At the same time, she is able to work independently, takes initiative, and thinks ahead—qualities that are extremely valuable in a place like ours. We are very grateful that Noam spent this time with us. It was a pleasure having her here, and we would be more than happy to welcome her back anytime in the future.

Hello hello, This was my first Workaway volunteer experience, and I’m really glad I ended up choosing this place (honestly, didn’t expect to get this lucky on the first try). I came here to make a documentary for the organisation. The idea was to document tribal communities, understand the difficulties they face, and capture how the organisation helps them access government schemes and fight legal battles. Albert and his family are one of those people who makes you feel comfortable without trying too hard. Very quickly, the place stopped feeling like “a stay” and started feeling like… okay, I guess I live here now. I initially told myself I’d stay for two weeks and somehow that turned into a full month. The days were full in the best way. Home-cooked meals by Shiba, funny conversations with Aravind, friendly neighbours who always made time to connect, and simple moments like playing carrom with the kids. It wasn’t just work it was immersion into a way of life. Documenting the stories of the tribal community was a great experience. It gave me a closer look at realities that are often overlooked, the effort being put in here to create real, lasting change. What stands out most is their approach. This isn’t charity in the usual sense it’s thoughtful, sustainable work aimed at empowering people from the ground up through education, awareness, and consistent support. I’m leaving with a lot more than I came with both as a filmmaker and as a person. I’ll definitely be coming back, hopefully to work on another film together. Grateful for the time, the people, and everything in between.

Silvia and Fernando welcomed me into their home and family during the month of March. Their communication prior to, and assisting with, my arrival was excellent! Fernando explained the tasks in detail, and also worked nearby and was happy to answer any questions I had. Fernando entrusted me with tasks I had never done before, and I was surprised to discover I enjoyed! He is intelligent, has a great eye for detail, and his sense of humor made the days enjoyable. Silvia is a genuine sweetheart, we had many conversations, laughs, and she creates amazing meals and mouthwatering crostada! I am grateful for the many techniques I learned while watching and helping Silvia before mealtime. I walked their playful dog, Biagio, every morning in the beautiful countryside. It is a very beautiful and peaceful area, and well connected by bus to Terni which I also enjoyed in my time off. The dedicated work away apartment was cozy, having to use the original wood burning fireplace before sleeping. The cultural exchange was better than expected; I highly recommend Silva and Fernando (and Biagio)!

Jonathan stayed here with me for about two weeks and I can honestly say he is a great lad. A quiet nature but with plenty of chat, plenty to say for himself and also has a good, quirky sense of humour. He is diligent with his work and in terms of what he has done for me, he invests in the task and wants to get it done right and well, which is a fantastic quality any host would be lucky to have around. He can work independently and I would say he would work well with others too. While he is a vegan, generally he is not a fussy eater and can cook lovely food too. All in all he is good company.. and we had some great conversations, laughed quite a bit, played chess, sang, meditated. Very happy to have met Jonathon and wholeheartedly recommend him.

I stayed with Karen for 10 days in March 2026 & it was a very enjoyable experience. Karen is very friendly, enthusiastic & helpful - & she asks for very little in return for a lovely room with a view over the old town of Cuenca. I did one hour of housekeeping maybe 5 times during my 10 days, a little bit of cooking, & I attended her book club as they were reading a book by an Irish author. Cuenca is a lovely town surrounded by gorges & wonderful landscapes; it is also just an hour by train to Madrid and Valencia, & a bus runs from the bus station to the train station, which is outside of the town. Overall, it was a fantastic cultural exchange & I would recommend it to anyone who loves walking, meeting new people, & experiencing real Spain, away from the costas. Thank you, Karen!

I came to the mill in the dark days of jan-feb and had a wonderfull time with two blizzards! I was sleeping in the converted sheep stable in -12 and had a blast. I did this by choice, if you're not into the cold as much there will probably be a warmer room (with central heating) for those cold cold days ;) I got along well with the other workawayer and made a mosaic around a door and painted the door itself, I loved that project. Other than that I took care of the animals, which are mischievous little beasts. They're great to practice German with (although I practiced some with humans too, they lent me great German books aswell). Aside from that there are many odd-jobs so no day is the same. I'm coming back this july to see the contrast between the more emoty winter and busy summer, so see you then!

My sister Fatima, thank you so much for the wonderful efforts you made with children, both young and old. You were the best teacher and educator. We learned correct English pronunciation from you. We traveled together and had a wonderful time. Fatima has high morals, prepares her lessons meticulously, and gives the children all the talents we have. I hope you will visit us soon. I and the children miss you. We love you so much .we wait you visit us soon

I was in great need of some peace and quiet and this was exactly the right place for me! I came on a very short notice and for only four days, it ended up aligning perfectly with helping out with the roof; the few sunny days had and could to be used! So my extra pair of was very welcome :) The amenities are indeed pretty basic, but for me it was another way of calming down and getting back to nature. The other two workawayers were lovely, we had a great time in The Pheonix. And Fionntáin is such a patient and wonderful host who knows so much about the local folklore.

Paso a Paz is a beautiful, creative, welcoming space that really invites many ways of expression and experience. We stayed with this host family for two months together, and it was truly a great experience. From the very beginning, they made us feel welcome and comfortable in their home. They are such a warm and loving family, and we really enjoyed spending our afternoons with their three children. It was always fun, and we created many lovely memories together. Both of them were also incredibly kind and helpful. They always made sure we were doing well and gave us lots of great tips for our weekend trips, which made our stay even more special and exciting. Overall, we are very grateful for this experience and would absolutely recommend staying with this family!

Just a few days, but so full of shared experiences! I loved working on the farm with Magnus. I felt right at home thanks to his warm hospitality. I really appreciated the daily routine and how well-organised everything was: we cleaned and prepared the outdoor areas ahead of summer (raking up fallen leaves, cleaning the terraces, sanding and painting, getting ready for the arrival of the baby lambs, cooking and enjoying good meals...) A peaceful place where you can really enjoy nature, surrounded by sheep and horses — perfect for spending time outdoors and recharging your batteries! I recommend you go there – you’ll learn and share a lot :)

Arthur was friendly and easy to live with, but unfortunately his overall contribution did not meet our expectations. His level of motivation was very low, and many tasks were done with only minimal effort. Several jobs were left half-finished or completed to a very poor standard, which meant that we often had to redo them afterwards. Even simple instructions were not carried out carefully, for example plates were put beside the dishwasher instead of inside it. Overall, we did not experience the level of initiative, reliability, or practical skill we hope for in a Workawayer.
