Máté stayed with us for the month of September, assisting at both our Toronto home and our cottage. He followed instructions well and completed the tasks we set for him, including sanding a set of bookshelves and painting a room. We were happy with the quality of his work and appreciated that he got the job done as requested. In addition to household projects, Máté was responsible for caring for our dogs. They enjoyed long walks around the city and hikes at the cottage. He is a quiet, independent, and creative individual who spent much of his free time focused on his YouTube channel. If you are looking for a volunteer who is easy to get along with, capable of tackling a long to-do list, and ready to learn, Máté is a great choice. We enjoyed hosting him at our homes.

Although Anael was only with us for a week, she made a lasting impression and was a joy to have around during our Thanksgiving at the cottage. She has a wonderful personality, incredibly warm, friendly, and outgoing, which made her feel like a natural fit for our family from the moment she arrived. Anael was eager to jump in and help with the housework, contributing to the preparation of our holiday meals and keeping everything tidy and organized. Beyond the chores, she was fantastic with our dogs, taking them on long walks and making sure they were well-exercised and happy. We truly appreciated her positive energy and her genuine willingness to help out wherever needed. We highly recommend Anael to any future host; she is a delightful person to share your home with, and we wish she could have stayed longer.

Hosting Laura for three months was an absolutely wonderful experience, and it is hard to put into words how much we enjoyed having her as part of our family. From our home in Toronto to our time at the cottage, Laura brought a sense of warmth and genuine helpfulness to everything she did. On the practical side, Laura was a superstar. She is incredibly hardworking and pays great attention to detail. She was a constant help with the daily cooking and cleaning, and she even took on painting two rooms, doing a meticulous, professional job. She has a 'can-do' attitude that makes every project feel easy. However, the most important part of her stay for us was her relationship with our dogs, Bando and Bigsley. Laura was truly awesome with them; she treated them with so much love and patience. Bigsley, in particular, completely adored her and followed her everywhere! Knowing they were so happy and well-cared for allowed us to truly relax, and we even managed to get away on vacation, knowing our dogs were in good hands. We shared so many delicious meals, great laughs, and quiet moments in nature together. Laura isn't just a 'Workawayer' to us anymore; she’s a dear friend. We are so grateful for the trust, generosity, and spirit she brought into our lives. We recommend her with 100% confidence to any host looking for a dedicated, kind, and truly special person to join their home. You are always welcome back, Laura!

Catherine is a relaxed, fun, and wonderful person. She sometimes delivers jokes with a completely straight face, which made her a great and memorable character in our community. She also has a very creative side and is skilled at sewing and baking. On potluck day, she baked an authentic chocolate cake, and the quality was truly impressive! We also had a project we are currently working on that required sewing, so we entrusted that task to her. She confidently used the sewing machine and, even without detailed instructions, thought things through on her own and created beautiful curtains for us. She loves animals as well, and often spent time playing with our cat Chaya, even sleeping together in the same bed and taking great care of him. We truly appreciate and understand your unique sense of humor. We very much hope to welcome you back again in about a year. Thank you so much for coming and being part of our place!

Kikuo (he has a Japanese-style nickname) is a very talented and multi-skilled person. He has many special skills, including juggling and spinning tops, but his unicycle performance in particular was truly impressive. It is clear that unicycling is something he has been passionate about for a long time. In addition to his native language, he speaks some Taiwanese and Japanese, so we sometimes chatted in Japanese, and he also kindly taught us some Spanish. He is usually calm and quiet, but he enjoys fun, is very curious, and occasionally shows a lovely sense of humor. We were often surprised by the unique combinations in the Japanese dishes he cooked—but that, too, reflects his curiosity (and made us smile!). He worked diligently and quietly, always giving his best to the tasks at hand. We already miss your presence and character, and we are truly looking forward to the day we can meet again. Thank you so much for coming and sharing your time with us!

It was hard to let Raul go. He is so nice and helpful. I loved the conversations we had. His language skills are amazing and his English impeccable. Due to the winterweather the chores where mainly indoor and driving. He does this excellent. We and the kids loved his cooking. The dogs where fond of him. I would recommend Raul 100% as a volunteer and will definitely host him again. All the best with all the great opportunities who lay before you!

Nous avons passé trois superbes semaines avec Ines et Mathilde, avec qui on a bien rigolé ! Leur terrain est magnifique, avec vue sur la mer depuis le bengalow-cuisine. Pendant notre séjour, les missions ont été variées : peinture, désherbage, élagage, soin des plantes, récupération de pierres à la rivière puis terrassement et pas chinois… on a beaucoup apprécié :) Merci encore pour ce nouvel an mémorable, la randonné et le barbecue partagés ! Ce sont des superbes hosts que l’on recommande vivement !

what an angel Karen is! Incredibly kind, hard working, soulful, and overall peaceful and gentle human. Animal and nature loving to the core, and such a wonderful help to our garden and our property, in what was a very wet spring. Karen was a pleasure to host, to chat to, to have around, to cook with, and to have as a part of our family for a little less than a month. Highly recommend her help on all levels.

We loved our time with Sylvia! She is so sweet and positive! The tasks were easy and always changing! Stacking some wood, feeding the animals and more. I absolutely recommend it !

Even though Giusy stayed with us for only about twenty days, she proved to be a truly wonderful person. She helped us enormously with organizing several indoor spaces as well as the garden. She is an organized and determined person who never hesitates to lend a hand when needed. It was a real pleasure to meet her, and I hope to be able to host her again in the future.

Lisa was a pleasure to host! (Only hosted Lisa) Lisa stayed with us for about 7 dsys. She is kind, respectful, and very easy to get along with. She approached every task with a positive attitude and genuine willingness to help, whether it was in the garden or around the house. She even moved the lawn for the first time.  Any host would be lucky to have her stay with them, and we'd happily welcome her back at anytime and we wish her all the best on her future travels.

What a delight Cathy was to have come stay and work with us. Her travel plans and experiences were suddenly put on hold when we experienced a Cyclone while she was visiting Airlie Beach. Fortunate for us that she decided to sign up with workaways and to find a place to stay which might need some post Cyclone assistance, while having time out of the tourist experience for a while. While Cathy was here she helped with removing some fallen branches, weeding, mowing, whipper snipping, slashing with the tractor, assisting while Philip was repairing equipment and preparing vegetable garden beds ready for planting. We thoroughly enjoyed her company, telling and listening to stories about life experiences, plans and aspirations. We wish Cathy all the best on her future travels and as she moves through her life. I'm sure that she will brighten many a person's life just by being her friendly helpful self. Cathy is welcome back any time that she returns to our part of the world.

Sara was a joy to meet and spend time with, she is is so positive and enthusiastic about everything! Sára is quite responsible and I would trust her with anything. A good worker. You are welcome at this place anytime Sára.

What a box of bubbles and energy. Dottie and I just loved having you here. We did lots of work in the vegetable garden and weeding in the flower gardens. Dottie enjoyed the walks. You fitted in well with everyone who was here and were a great help round the house. Thanks so much and enjoy the rest of your travels.

Viviane était notre première workawayeuse et on a adoré l'expérience. Douce, à l'écoute, discrète dans son aide avec les petites choses du quotidien, elle a été d'un grand soutien avec les enfants et la maison. Une très belle rencontre.

Fabienne and Tina joined in the chaos round here over Christmas really well. They helped wrap presents, get food sorted and eat all the left over food. Oh and they also helped in the gardens as well, doing a great job of the things I got them to do. They were so lovely to have here and Dottie enjoyed the time they spent with here (except for the chocolate lol). Hope you enjoy the rest of your travels.

Well what can I say about Gene. She is one hard working, strong shella. She was up to give anything a go. I arranged for her to do a days tailing and she enjoyed it so much she went back the next day. Her drinking skills improved over the two days as lol. She was looking for things to do, happy and would ask questions if she didn't understand anything. I loved having her here. We caught up the day after Christmas to go to Wanaka. Hope you are enjoying picking Cherries and hope to see you in the future.

Kristy fitted in to my mad house like a glove. She looked after Dottie and took her for walks. She was a great help in the gardens, both the flower garden and the vegetable gardens. She was tidy round the house and so easy to talk to. Thanks for all your help and enjoy the rest of your travels.

I stayed with Iris and her amazing family for a week, and it was a wonderful experience. They are a unique family, and it was a great opportunity for me to experience their world. They make you feel at home through the time you spend together—playing games, watching movies, etc. The work itself also gave me new experiences, especially working with different machines. If you have the chance to stay there, don’t forget to ask about all the mind-blowing stories about Kenny’s company, the automations he has done, and of course the big legal battle over the water tower.
