We had a wonderful time at the Hostal. We organized our help day by day talking to Ignacio and consulting with the staff. We were given complete autonomy, and everyone was very kind. The atmosphere in the hostel is wonderful, we miss it so much. We think of Sandra, Anni, Carlos, and Gaston every day. We hope to return.

Had such a fantastic time! Carlos and Becky are so lovely and kind, and with the other volunteers, we quickly formed a friendly community.  I really appreciated the set mealtimes where we could come together, take turns to cook and enjoy delicious food. The work was varied and enjoyable; we pruned the fruit trees, built shelves and structures from wood in the house and greenhouse and dug ditches to help retain water for plants in summer and reduce muddy ground in winter. One evening we went on a hike and collected pinecones for starting the fire. On days off there's the forest and mountains to explore nearby, and, as we were here in winter, days ranged from cold and snowy to rather warm and sunny. I feel so grateful to have met Carlos, Becky and the other volunteers. And to have spent time in this beautiful place. Thank you both for the opitunity and I hope to see you again soon. x

Anouk l'a directement adopté!! Elle nous a également aidé avec nos travaux de rénovation. C'était une chance de l'avoir à notre maison. Merci Anne d'être venu nous rencontrer dans les Pyrénées. Saches que tu as une famille ici et que tu seras toujours bienvenue !

Amazing Workaway with a strong family vibe, it really feels like an adult summer camp 🏖️✨ This was my first volunteering experience and I would do it again in a heartbeat! You get to be part of the amazing 8 people volunteer team, which makes making friends super easy. The management team is always on site, involved, understanding and supportive. Family dinner every night with all the staff and guests, plus Rosa's delicious vegetarian food that everyone loves. If you’re a bit independent and adaptable, working the bar is easy and fun, even with no experience (my case 😛). Slow days and evenings feel like hanging out at the bar with friends while working, and busy nights feel like throwing the party with friends. Even when you’re not working, you often end up just on the other side of the bar, having a drink with your colleagues and guest friends. Being behind the bar also lets you quickly get to know all the guests and locals. The work keeps you just busy enough, but there’s still tons of free time to relax or explore. The hostel is right on the beach, so you can watch the ocean and sunsets even while working 🌅 People come for the hostel, not just passing through, so guests usually stay several days, which makes real connections possible. Super chill atmosphere overall, with lots of French Canadians around. Highly recommend if you’re looking for a social, feel-good Workaway 💛

We stayed at Sandra's finca from October 2025 to the end of January 2026. Sandra is very kind, helpful, and relaxed. We felt very comfortable there. We loved the two dogs, Jasper and Ruby, and will miss them very much. They are incredibly sweet and have wonderful personalities. We loved taking care of the animals and all kind of work was fun. The communication with Sandra always worked very well. She often invited us over and introduced us to her family and friends. 100% recommendation!

I stayed 2 weeks on the boat, and had an absolutely amazing time. We were 4 /5 volunteers and worked together everyday with Sky to renovate the boat. The work was a bit different everyday and always such a good energy, music, laughs and chats. The tasks are physical and require motivation and hard work as we tried to be as efficient as possible, but if you are eager to learn and be active it's the perfect environment. We experienced some technical issues due to the cold, which require to be flexible and adaptable if you come during a cold period (And to bring your warmest clothes!!). I met many different people belonging to the community this workaway created and everyone was so nice and awesome. We shared meals and spontaneous activities and just chill moments as well. I left just wanting to come back and quite sure I want to become a carpenter.

We volunteered here for 5 weeks and had an amazing time with our female host Teddy and all the children we met at the library. It was the school holidays so the local children came to the library for the literacy club and the computer club every day it was open. We helped them with their English reading and comprehension and they are all very keen to learn. The children were fun to be with and we enjoyed a Christmas party with them all. We even made tasty cakes on a charcoal stove. Teddy really looked after us, making us delicious local and sometimes Western meals and providing us with everything we needed. We visited one of the local islands with Mudu, who is a local volunteer and supporter of the library, which was really interesting. We explored the local village where the library children live and everyone was very friendly. We would highly recommend this Workaway and thank you to Teddy, Mudu and all the children, including Tatiana, at the library for making it so memorable.

Eva & Ellie are a great team who took on some big projects here during our sometimes-unpredictable (roasting? freezing? who knows?) winter. Both of them showed up every day with a smile, ready to go, and even directed other volunteers as needed. Everyone living here enjoyed their presence. Wish we could've had more time together, as we had lots of great conversations about everything from travel to education, and really appreciated their thoughtful, humane perspective. Loved seeing them interact with the children too. Safe travels!

First of all, thank you so much for hosting me!! I stayed at their place for about 3 weeks. I truly loved spending time with this friendly, lovely, and warm family. They let me experience French life and many other new things, and always tried to be welcoming to me, such as by including me in their family gatherings. I can't fully express how much I appreciate their kindness but let me just say thanks for everything!

Sofia is a wonderfull girl!!! Despite being young, she is already super mature. She is always concern about the others and she is willing to help everybody and with everything. She was able to “survive” to our four little boys! And they really enjoyed to have her with us. She played around with them and helped them to keep the rules at the same time. In the farm, she was an incredibel horse rider, always respecting the horses’ behavior. She helped on the dayly tasks around the sheep (cleanning the barn, give food with the quad, put the earings on the lambs, etc), always with a smile! If it was raining or not! We were really lucky that she contacted us. And we are really looking forward to meet her again!

Thank you so much for sharing such a thoughtful and detailed review 🌱 We’re truly happy to hear that your first volunteering experience was so meaningful and enriching. It’s wonderful to know that teaching in the rural school, working with small classes, and connecting closely with the students made such a positive impact on you. We’re also glad you enjoyed daily life in the village—cycling through the rice fields, visiting the market, and building connections with local people are experiences we believe are at the heart of cultural exchange. Teacher Sen will be especially touched by your kind words. He loves sharing local culture, food, and games with volunteers, and we’re happy you felt so welcomed during your stay. Even though you were based in the second school, we’re glad the weekend conversations and time spent together still felt meaningful and memorable. You are very good and very kind person. All teachers and students here wish you the best! Thank you again for your recommendation and for being part of our community. We wish you all the best in your future travels and hope our paths cross again someday! 😊

Our one week stay at the farm may have been short, but it was more than enough to discover what truly wonderful and inspiring people Kerry and Stephen both are. They possess a deep care for others and a sensibility for the environment around us and the soil we live on. Everything was centered on mutual aid rather than labor, and on genuine exchange rather than profit. This is exactly what the original spirit of Workaway is meant to be. They are probably among the best representative of the workaway real experience and we probably received more than what we could even offer. We met a kind, experienced, and attentive couple, along with Flocky the playful dog, sheep, ducks, choocks, and a beautiful garden. Kerry is incredibly thoughtful and a fantastic cook, while Stephen is a wealth of knowledge and a legendary breakies' chef. Both have a great sense of humor and were so welcoming to our children. We feel like we’ve found true friends and are deeply grateful for the experience.

I spend 10 very nice days with Till, Tzegha, their children and their dog, their are a very inspiring and integrate family, full of ideas, perspectives and positivity. I mostly helped Till with the construction of their bio house, he is very calm and communicative it was pleasant to work with him while listening good music:) Then every afternoon and evening felt like Xmas cooking, eating, playing, talking and laughing together in their super cozy baraka. Thank you so much for this beautiful experience that brought me cool ideas, perspectives, positivity and clarity:) Vova:P

Our experience with Lahcen was absolutely amazing. Smara is, in my point of view, a really unique city to visit, especially because there not many (if any :) tourists and that's what makes it special. You get the chance to actually see the real Morocco and not only the tourist version, really connect with people. Locals are very friendly and curious, we were welcomed and greeted multiple times on the street by random people :) . The students are super motivated to learn and interact, we had fantastic time teaching as well. The school has nice classrooms, the staff is very helpful, so we had everything we needed. We stayed in Lahcen’s house with one more teacher and we shared many interesting conversations about teaching and about life as well. Lahcen is an inspiring guy, very busy, full of ideas. We were invited to his family house for lunch, too, at all times we were taken care of and felt very welcome the whole time. We both sincerely recommend him as a host and hope we can come back one day and spend more time.

Reflecting on the wonderful 6 weeks I spent here fills me with a profound joy and sense of gratitude. To Bruno, Ana and the rest of the Finca family, I reiterate once again my HUGE thanks for sharing your home and your hearts so openly, I am so glad for the time and presence we shared and the friendships formed - and of course all of the bountiful olive harvest which I feel blessed know will contribute to feeding many over the coming years. The expectations around work, sharing and communal responsibility was clearly communicated from the start and I felt that there was openness, honesty and trust in the space which contributed to a healthy working and living environment for all. We shared meals every day, mainly cooked by the volunteers, and were always provided nourishing and fresh ingredients to do so. These meals were received with a lot of gratitude and I shall hold close to my heart the depth of that vibration I experienced sharing in this way. I'm deeply grateful for the sacred temple and opportunity to have participated in daily Puja, meditation and devotion - this was never an expectation, or pressured in any way, nor was there any sense of philosophy or doctrine around it, simply the opportunity to be, to witness, to participate in whichever way was aligned for everyone - for me this is the most beautiful and welcoming form of spirituality, thank you Bruno and Ana for allowing this to flow through yourselves and be shared with others. For the soul which is seeking a place to be immersed in nature, nourish oneself with song, meditation and human connection, and connect to Mother Earth I highly recommend - for myself, it was very much a calling that felt like the right place and the right time to something sacred within. With peace and love, Kieran

Sorry to read your review Efflam. Of the years in which we have been hosting volunteers, we have not once heard a complaint about our food, but such is life; there is always a first time, and we are sure it will not happen again. Efflam, we humans understand one another with words. Not by raising your voice aggressively to Lizz and me in our own home in front of a lady guest and her 5-year-old son. We talked to our other volunteers about the situation, who are still present here, about the food, and they said that they were totally satisfied and happy with the delicious food that Lizz serves us. You need to work on your social skills and your manners; you cannot go into a home in which you are a guest, expecting or demanding anything. You should be humble and thankful to be well-received. I am not your Papa to teach you this. Life will take care of that. Think of that and enjoy the road. FUTURE VOLUNTEERS, please read the reviews that we have so that you can truly get a perspective of how things are here!

It was a pleasure to volunteer with Monique. She welcomed me and my partner warmly and gave us a beautiful room and three delicious meals a day. She lives close to the train station, so it was easy for use to arrive at her house. We helped sorting through clothing and other things to organise the house. We also assembled an IKEA bed and organised the basement. We also did some general household tasks where necessary. We felt very at home and appreciated, and we enjoyed sharing meals with her, having interesting talks and playing games. We also had fun playing with her two beautiful German Shepherds Saffron and Kira: they are such great characters😊Thank you for all your kindness, Monique!
