 - Description- Spring 2025
We live on a dairy farm 5 minutes walk from the small town of Callan which is 16km from the medieval city of Kilkenny in the South East of Ireland. There are regular buses from Callan to Kilkenny, Dublin and Cork. There is also a train station in Kilkenny.
There are shops, pubs and cafes in Callan. Kilkenny has a vibrant pub and restaurant scene, a cinema, public parks and several historic buildings including Kilkenny Castle. There are sports facilities in both Callan and Kilkenny.
My husband works on the farm full time. I help out when needed. We have 4 teenage sons and a very friendly Border collie who appears to be better at chasing balls than herding cows.
We milk around 180 cows and rear our own replacement heifers. We would like help caring for the calves, milking cows, feeding the other animals and general farm chores.
Renumeration is dependent on experience but we will pay at least the minimum Irish wage.
We live in a traditional Georgian house. You would have your own apartment. Breakfast and dinner will be provided and cooking facilities are available.
