It has been quite nice! I have got to learn to use a bunch of new tools and gardening techniques. Lio and Sanne also have amazing books which are very inspiring. Their children are also quite energetic and funny and I even played a bit with them at the end of my stay. I stayed only 5 days, but I managed to visit several interesting places nearby, such as a village full of cat murals, as well as a huge buddhist temple. The region is not so much populated, but it is very easy to hitchhike, almost every fifth car stops. It has also been nice talking with Lio and Sanne about the society, politics and random stuff. The only issue which I had during my stay was that sometimes I did not know how much I should work during a day. However, I think that it was just a communication issue from my side. Anyway, at the end it was good every day, it was just that sometimes I was not sure when I have free time in order to organize for other activities. But, as I said, I think it was just a communication issue. So, overall, I would recommend visiting Lio's and Sanne's property if you are interested in permaculture! It is also a great place to try hitchhiking, but also you must be careful because it might happen that you get stuck on your way to Clermont Ferraud if you are coming from Lyon, it seems that not so many people go in this direction.

“We’ll become your Aussie country family”… that was what you told me when you picked me up at the airport. And I wasn’t sure it was possible to create such a strong beautiful connection in such a short time, but it really can with the right people. And I can definitely say that you became family to me.
The days spent at the family's were truly special, I will keep those with me forever. Sharon, Chris and Modena are the nicest and funniest people you can ever met and I feel very lucky to have been part of this crazy family for a bit, which includes also - actually they’re the real deal sorry guys :) - the horses, dogs, the sheep (love her), George the steer and much more. It was a privilege to taking care of them and getting to know their characters and personalities as well! I enjoyed every single moment there, especially the amazing rides together, unbelievable!! Cant wait to come back. Miss ya so so so so much and love you guyssss xxxxxxx

It's hard to find the words to describe the exceptional welcome I received from John and Laura. I stayed for four weeks on their farm, where they showed me everything they do: the garden, the forest, and the construction of a house. The setting was perfect, both in the little house I stayed in and in the beauty of their surroundings. Above all, they are an incredible family, full of stories and warm affection. Thank you so much for the time I spent with you and for showing me the beautiful Orewa region north of Auckland. I will take all the wonderful memories we shared back to France!

What an incredible 2 months we spent with Ernst. From the first moment he arrived at our farm, he gave himself fully into everything: the work, contact with us, our kids, other volunteers and guests. Ernst carries his heart in his hands and on his tongue.
No matter his age, he is physically really fit and has a broad life experience and knowledge of almost everything in farmlife and many other areas. He was of great help for us, hands-on re-organising our veggie garden and advising us on many other areas.
Ernst is really enthusiastic about learning new things and skills, always open for different opinions and honest exchanges. We had long lasting philosophical talks about all important areas of life. Ernst seems to have an inner source of youth and sparks and lights up the people around him - the young and the older alike! Often he would come home with little gifts for the kids from his exploring trips in the local surroundings.
He created deep and lasting friendships with us and other volunteers that stayed with us during the same time.
We thank Ernst from our hearts for his openness, his spirit and his good heart and we are hopeful to see him again someday!

Roslyn is a caring person who takes good care of her incredibly cute dogs and her guests and she has a lot of stories to share. She has a lovely home in a very nice neighborhood in Vancouver, it’s relatively quiet and lots of people do urban gardening like Roslyn herself, which gives the area a really cozy atmosphere and there are beautiful flowers growing in lots of places. There are lots of restaurants and shops around. Downtown is easily reachable by several busses in about 45 mins. Bonus is that you can see the mountains in the distance. The room I stayed in is very cozy with a very comfy double bed, two closets and a small desk.
Because I only got to spend time with Roslyn for 2 days I did not get to know her that well but I could tell that she is very caring and committed to what she does. Communication wise I would have preferred if Roslyn was more direct with me. For example, she did not communicate with me before my arrival that she would be leaving on a trip two days after I arrived, and we had a misunderstanding about her expectations towards me.
Roslyn loves to cook. Since I would be alone most of the week, Roslyn prepared different foods in advance for me for during my stay and she treated me to her favorite Indian food, which was very nice. Since Roslyn is also a vegetarian, it was great to be in a place that took that into consideration automatically.
Tasks wise I ended up doing some general house tasks like cleaning the rental room, stairs, balcony rails, and the house, and some garden tasks like watering and trimming. Next to that I took care of the dogs while she was away, a responsibility shared with her very kind son Sebastian, who took the dogs a few nights so I had time to explore Vancouver. The dogs are the cutest creatures ever, they love to play and cuddle, also they can be quite barky.
Vancouver as a city was very nice to visit, it's beautiful with all the nature around and downtown has a great vibe. I enjoyed a cool free walking tour from Kyle through Guru walks (can recommend!) and Roslyn had a lot of great tips like Stanley Park, Commercial Drive (little Italy) and the museum of Anthropology. These I would totally recommend too.

Titilayo and Richie were very welcoming. The campervan is beautiful and so is the land. The animals are well cared for. I learnt a bit about growing food/veg. I would just say the work/location is a little isolating so would recommend if you're comfortable in your own company and in nature ❤would love to see them again one day!

Dear Workaway Community,
I spent two wonderful months with Till, Tzegha, Amit, and Luan in Sardinia, and I can wholeheartedly recommend this place.
From the very beginning, I received a warm welcome and always felt appreciated and included. The work was varied and meaningful. Among other things, I helped create a vegetable garden and restored old metal chairs. What I especially enjoyed were the shared moments, the conversations, and the weekly trips to the springs to collect fresh spring water.
One of the highlights for me was the food we shared together. In my life, I have rarely eaten so well. The meals were prepared with great care, fresh ingredients, and exceptional spices. I was also deeply touched by the beautiful ritual of taking a moment before each meal to express gratitude for the food, the plants, and the people who made it possible.
The property itself, with its olive trees, citrus trees, lavender, and wide open natural surroundings, is a very special place. Till and Tzegha create an open and warm atmosphere where you immediately feel at home.
At 77 years old, I was probably not the typical volunteer, yet everyone welcomed me with kindness and respect. For that, I am very grateful.
Thank you for this enriching experience. I will keep it in my best memories.
Warm regards,
Ernst Alfred Reichelt

I spent nearly 3 weeks on Younes farm together with other workawayers. It's a very welcoming place, with plenty of time & space to discover, exchange and enjoy life!
The work was very varied and included watering, screening compost, planting tomatoes, feeding the sheep and chicken etc. As Younes is very open for suggestions, we also made some decorative changes (a cosy sitting area and structure for climbing plant).
While staying on the farm, you learn about composting and how to run a farm in a circular way through hands experience.
Other activities we enjoyed together were cooking, yoga and going to the neighborhoods pool. During my stay I also had the possibility to explore Rabat, visit an authentic souk, go surfing as well as visiting Fes.
Younes is a very caring and open person who tries to make your stay as enjoyable as possible. If you enjoy simple life, community and cultural exchange, this is a wonderful place to do so. I can only recommend! Thank you very much Younes.

Isabella was a welcome guest and a great helper. She may not be brawny, but she's a strong and energetic worker. She's smart, asks good questions and is keen on learning new skills. She also has quite an array of skills to offer as well. She was with us when other helpers were here, and she was quite capable of working on her own or with others. We very much enjoy her stay and would welcome her back. Very happy to recommend Isabella to other hosts.
