I was able to join in the lives of the Bedouin, proud desert nomads. There are two main types of work here: goat herding and sheep care. On goat days, I walk through the mountains with the goats for about eight hours a day, and in the afternoon We made fire and make Bedouin tea. On sheep days, I feed the baby goats milk and clean the tents they live in. The two lambs I witnessed the birth of were named Suzuki and Honda. The place was very peaceful, and I even took a nap with the donkey and played a flute for the sheep. Watched over by magnificent nature and sharing my heart with the animals, this life made me feel strongly that I am standing on Earth, living in this moment. I can't wait to see them again!

Maresa dedicated much of her time to working with our horse Rio, ensuring he received consistent exercise and attentive care. She is a highly capable rider...confident, gentle, and extremely intuitive with horses. In addition to horse care, Maresa took on significant responsibility with our goats and sheep, including assisting with medical treatments and daily medication routines. She played an important role in helping care for one of our sick lambs, showing patience, attentiveness, and compassion throughout treatment. Lina brought exceptional organizational skills that made a lasting impact on our sanctuary operations. She took initiative to declutter and reorganize our shop, accomplishing an incredible amount in a short time and creating systems that continue to benefit us. Lina primarily focused on caring for our birds and pigs, forming wonderful connections with them. Our pigs especially thrived with the extra attention, enrichment, and new tricks she introduced. Lina also generously helped with additional housekeeping duties, which was tremendously appreciated as we typically host 4–8 guests at any given time. Both Maresa and Lina were consistently respectful, kind, hardworking, and genuinely dedicated to animal welfare. They are physically capable, eager to learn, and always willing to step in wherever help was needed. They brought humour, positivity, and teamwork into every part of sanctuary life. We would highly recommend both Maresa and Lina for any horse ranch, animal care, farm, sanctuary, or property-based or any projects you may have for them. They have our absolute highest recommendation!

A fantastic experience Louise and Bruce are fantastic. Both give me nice recommendations about my travel in NZ. Despite of my lack in English we keep nice and funny conversations. Bruce is very funny, full of energy and he has a really good sense of humor…..and Louise is very friendly and an excellent cook. They bring me all I need and I spent a marvellous time in the paradise. I really appreciate. The place is fantastic too, a house in the top of a hill looks at the green hills, cows, wild birds.. I remember when Bruce ask me: Is this what you expected? I sincerely answer: More than I expected. Furthermore, inside the farm there are a pretty walk for a native bush.

Amazing experience!!! I have never experienced like this life. Living in nature, and go fishing. Everybody there is so kind and taught me new skill. Definitely should go.

We really enjoyed the time with Clemence. She quickly became part of the family, helping in the house the DIY projects and most of all, driving around when I needed it the most. She took care of the animals and mainly Nelly that will miss her. She was a good companion to practice French with, and she is very patient with my French and me jumping languages as I am struggling to find words.

I spent 2 great weeks with Aura on her little spot in the mountains of Honduras. She was really a wonderful host, I could not have asked for better! She provides her volunteers with all they need, from detailed information on how to reach her home (which can involve multiple steps and buses), to all food (including delicious banana bread during my stay), and overall terrific company and conversation. The accommodation is spacious and offers plenty of privacy if wanted. The area is beautiful, community colourful and neighborhood kids vivacious. Aura’s profile is very accurate and I would highly recommend this stay to someone looking to get out of the cities and into a more remote, nature filled area of Honduras.

Our time volunteering with Wayne and Vicki was better than we could ever imagine! We got to help Wayne with so many interesting projects and learn a lot from him! Vicki's food is truely amazing (we are still dreaming about the curry and the japanese panckakes...) We would work in the morning, have free time to explore and help when needed with the dinner prép. Some afternoon, Wayne took us to explore the region... It was AMAZING! Thank you both for this unforgettable experience.

I did my first Workaway with Igal and Mica and it was a fantastic first experience; I really felt included in the family. I had my own room which was very clean and comfortable and also a private bathroom. The work to do was minimal, and they gave me plenty of time to explore the island. I thank them for everything, and I highly recommend them!

Annette was lovely to have stay. She worked hard stacking wood and weeding and was very polite and courteous in the house. It was a pleasure to host her and I felt safe leaving her with the responsibility of looking after my animals while I went away for a weekend. I wish you all the best for your travels Annette!

Sophie and Adam stayed with us for three weeks and were a pleasure to host. They helped with a bunch of things including installing insulation, pinning plasterboard, and PVC downpipes, looking after our indoor plants, and keeping the pool maintained. They were reliable, capable, and easy to work with. They also got on really well with Anna and Liam and fitted nicely into family life. I had a really good time with them and we even shared a few trips to our local brewery "Shout", which was a lot of fun. Overall, Sophie and Adam were great company and very helpful, and I’d happily recommend them to future hosts.

We had a fantastic 2 weeks with John, Natasha, and all the family on the ranch. Everyone is so friendly and welcoming, we really enjoyed family lunches and making dinner together on some evenings! We tackled weeding in the vegetable beds and built the chickens a new portable chicken coop. Both felt rewarding and we learnt some new skills on the way! The property and the surrounding land is gorgeous (we stayed in the guesthouse next to the main house) and we enjoyed our morning coffees watching the hummingbirds, and evenings watching sunsets and playing with the dogs. Thank you for letting us join your family!

Frieda & Mirel are two lovely young ladies. Although the weather was poor during their stay, they were very positive, helpful and delightful guests. We wish them the very best for their onward travels. We know you will enjoy and have fun 🤩

Tor stayed with us as a Workawayer and was a real pleasure to host. He is very friendly, easygoing, and always willing to help, showing great dedication in everything he did. Unfortunately, he got sick during his stay, and we did our best to support him—buying medicine, making sure he could rest properly, and giving him the time he needed to recover. Despite this, his positive attitude and kindness really stood out. We truly enjoyed Tor’s presence here and are very grateful for his help and commitment. We wish him all the best in his future projects and adventures!

Joining this place was one of the greatest decisions of my life!! I first started as a volunteer in April 2019 and despite not planning on staying for too long, I ended up tour guiding until March 2020! Living in the Kuna Yala/ San Blas was a surreal experience and I was so blessed to be able to share the Kuna way of life with so many other adventurers and to get to live alongside the local Kunas. I think that they do a fantastic of giving back to the local communities as much as possible which is great to see. Meeting with the locals and playing with the local kids is another highlight of volunteering here. And best of luck if you think you can take on the Kunas at volleyball! Tour guiding with was can be tough at times as you're dealing with groups of travellers and anything can happen but it was so rewarding, fun and awesome that you'll hardly believe your luck to be able to spend your time in such a beautiful paradise! A big shout out to Peter and Caz who helped to run this place. Had such an unreal time that I went back again to the San Blas in 2023 and hope to go again in the future. Itomalando (Cheers in Kuna)!

Ethan is an amazing worker and one of our best volunteers yet. So kind and helpful, and very hardworking. When he comes back to visit he still goes above and beyond to help with extra tasks around the hostel, even though he no longer works here. Would recommend him to any host, and greatly appreciate him! Very bright future in work exchange opportunities, and any place would be lucky to have him!

Roger stayed with us for 2 weeks. Since we had some problems with the neighboring dogs, we asked Roger to help us with reinforcing the existing fence. He always worked very meticulously and precisely, and he was very tidy with our tools, and can perfectly work independently. He has a lot of skills and knows how to fix anything! Besides his working abilities, it's nice to talk to him, as he enjoys conversations just about anything really, from agriculture to philosophy, from mental health to electronics, he will calmly and humbly give you his interesting and thoughtful point of view. He cooked amazing vegan meals using our veggies, and enjoys good food: definitely a plus for us. Roger was very good at socializing with our animals, and they liked him: he knows his way around dogs and cats. He was often taking responsibilities work-related and on daily communal tasks, and doing useful things without being asked.Thank you Roger for your help!
