I had a great week volunteering on this farm back in December. Cik Lah, Munira and their family have created something very special in their little corner of Perak. Everything was smoothly organised and tasks well explained, and communication easy. I left with a full heart and wishing I could have stayed much longer!

At the large farm of Jochen and Sonta we experienced some of the most beautiful moments of our lives. We met two wonderful people who generously offered us their hospitality. We are grateful for all the lovely days we spent together with them. We stayed for almost a month and became so close to this couple that we now consider them our family. I thank God that we were lucky enough to meet them.

Even though it was a shorter stay than expected, I really enjoyed it. Tee and Al are such nice people, always calm and friendly and open for a laugh. It was a pleasure to get an insight into the horse wisdom project. I will never meet horses again without paying attention to how I make them feel. Thank you for that! The work was easy to do with all necessities provided and it was a welcome change to get my hands dirty. And the greatest thing ever about the stay: the views! Amazing landscape, lots of birds and gumtrees. You really created a unique place with your farm. Thank you for hosting me! :)

Silas stayed with us for two weeks. He cycled from the Netherlands to Denmark during snowy winter and temperatures far below 0°C 🥶. He was a big help with things we needed help with, and also made some extra projects. It was easy to talk with him and to agree on how to do things, and he came with some good ideas, for example how to fill in an empty space in the kitchen, between the fridge and the dishwasher. He is skillful with tools, precise and willing to try new things. We are really happy that he reached to us, and that we hosted him. Good luck, and wish you all the best Silas 😊👋 Tonka & Ivan

had an amazing volunteering experience at this farmstay. The farm is run by three brothers who are incredibly welcoming and passionate about their work. During my stay, I helped harvest cumin, which was a really interesting and rewarding experience. It felt great to be part of the daily farm activities and learn more about traditional farming. One of the highlights was the food. All the meals were cooked over an open fire, which gave everything a wonderful, authentic flavor. Sharing these meals together made the experience even more special. The mud huts were fantastic—simple, comfortable, and very cozy. Staying there made me feel really connected to nature and the rural lifestyle. Overall, it was a beautiful experience full of learning, great people, and peaceful surroundings. I highly recommend this farmstay to anyone who wants to experience authentic farm life and meaningful volunteering.

Daniel and Orsi stayed with me for 10 days in February / March 2026. They were a great help and very willing to take on a wide variety of tasks. They did a wonderful job in the laneway garden with weeding, watering and mulching the plants. They helped me in the ceramics studio and picked up clay recycling techniques really quickly. Everything was kept neat and tidy in the house and it was really interesting for me to hear about their adventures in Sydney and travels around the world. I highly recommend Daniel and Orsi as great workawayers.

Axel & Smilla were a delight. They worked hard and showed incredible adaptability to address a variety of tasks, including caring for our younger animals to designing and building an impressive enclosure for rescued wildlife. What ever the task, they tackled it with enthusiasm & intelligence. They got on really well with the other workawayers both older and younger & fitted comfortably with our family adding to a very enjoyable family meals with lively conversations. They cooked us several utterly delicious Swedish meals and Smillas baking and deserts are to die for ;-) They are a mature and capable couple and we recommend them highly, and would love to see them return.

Beautiful accommodation right on the lake. Work is primarily in the garden and is not strenuous. Big lunch and dinner + campfires most nights, great vibes. Bring some books because there is lots of down time and bring some method for purifying your water. Josh and Calebu are super friendly and will make sure you have everything you need

Great place to be if you like engineering and plastics recycling manufacturing. There's a lot of opportunities to learn and be hands-on about the process and the machines👍

Although it was a short stay, I am so grateful for the time I spent with Bien. As this was my first Workaway, I was a bit nervous at first, but Bien was incredibly welcoming. She truly respected my background and made a sincere effort to understand my culture. We had wonderful conversations about each country's custom, politics, and lifestyle. Every talk we had really broadened my mind. My tasks included trimming trees, tidying up the garden, and moving some pillars. Even though I visited in winter, I can only imagine how beautiful the place must be in spring and summer— please send me some photos when the flowers bloom! I also fell in love with her three dogs. They are big and energetic, yet so intelligent and affectionate. And I have to mention—Bien is a fantastic cook! The lasagna and meatballs she prepared were absolutely delicious. This experience inspired me to become a host myself in Japan one day. I want to share the best of Tokyo and Japan with travelers, just as Bien did for me. Thank you for everything!!

We had Isaline with us for two and it was great! She's friendly and reliable, communication was easy. She listened well and worked with application. She got well along with our other Workawayer and with the all family, inclusive our 2 y.o. daughter. It was a very good experience to host and work with Isaline, I would definitely recommend!

I loved volunteering here so much it was hard to leave after nearly 3 months. It really felt like home. I adored the dogs, Bateria and Choco, and the cats. I had the pleasure of meeting Milto and his family and they are wonderful people. Milto's parents are good people - his mother is incredibly sweet and kind. His father is a funny guy, and I enjoyed the communication barrier because it gives me the chance to learn how to communicate without words and also learn a few Greek words and phrases. Himara is beautiful and the hostel is as well. I hope to return someday. My words for other future volunteers is to take good care of the hostel, treat volunteers and guests with consideration and kindness, and enjoy the beautiful nature! Thank you, Milto, for having me - I enjoyed working at the hostel!

Fynn spent two weeks with us and It was a good time. It's a reliable person, easy to be around. Communication was fluid and he got very well along with our other Workawayer, so we had nice working atmosphere. I'm grateful for the help and would definitely recommend to host Fynn. Oh and he also had a good contact with our 2 y.o. daughter, she still speaks about him.

My time here was truly incredible. Everyone was exceptionally kind and helpful, and we shared so many laughs and wonderful conversations. The work was a lot of fun, and I learned an incredible amount about coffee cultivation and organic farming. The farm itself is a paradise, with beautiful views of the mountains and surrounding nature, and the house is absolutely lovely. Deepa is an amazing woman, and I am very grateful for everything she did for us and for always supporting us with any questions we had. The food was absolutely delicious—I honestly can’t remember the last time I ate so well and so much! We were also very lucky to experience both a festival and a wedding during our stay. I’m truly grateful that we were invited to be part of these special celebrations; it was a unique and unforgettable experience. I had such a peaceful and wonderful time on the farm. It was definitely one of my best Workaway experiences, and if I ever return to Nepal, I will absolutely come back again! :)❤️❤️

I had a lovely few days with Chantal prior to Christmas. Bushfires were in the local area so we prepared the house for fires if they headed her way. We also cleared a fire track in case RFS needed to use it and I did some house painting. Chantal is a gracious host and chef extraordinaire. I was lucky to find her.

Yvette is a warm, caring person who has a keen interest in meeting people from around the world. Her daughter and their dog Nina were also welcoming and lovely to get to know. What truly impressed me about Yvette was how she was sincere in wanting to give woofers the opportunity to learn about living off the grid. She has a wealth of knowledge and enthusiastically shares it with others who are interested in learning more. She is flexible about what time the workday begins. She does her utmost to make sure her woofers are comfortable and well fed. Yvette deserves a 5-star rating … and more! The grounds were serene and stunning! Every morning I’d wake up and my eyes would drink in the beauty of the grounds. Seeing the alpacas and the sheep grazing during the day nourished my spirit. The tranquility of Yvette’s property found a place in my soul as did Yvette. We had profound conversations about life and self-care. We are kindred spirits and have made plans to see each other again! I was blessed to have spent 2 weeks with Yvette. Kia ora Yvette. Next time I hope to stay for at least a month!

I had a really nice week here and felt very welcome from the start. The atmosphere is relaxed and friendly, and the work was fair and varied. I especially enjoyed the evening walks with Jacky, the delicious vegetarian food, and the meditation class at the university. Overall, it was a very positive experience and I’m grateful for the opportunity to spend a week here. I hope you will stay healthy in the future and that all the animals continue to do well. Thank you for hosting me!

Awwwww David and Mariaaaaaaa!!!! These guys made the record so far for staying at Atong Baol- 2 months!!!! extending and extending hahaha and we LOVED them as much as they loved being there :) They continued our Catalan music training within our first week, so we're ready to celebrate Christmas with our own log next year hahaha (we have many logs to choose from here, haha). Maria also gets special props for being the first volunteer to coopt the whiteboard for life and task management ;) These two made Atong Baol their home in such a great way- seeing the fun and peace which a simple, land-based lifestyle can create, and committing to all the processes which are necessary to make it happen. Obviously, they worked hard, were detail-oriented, very communicative and very pleasant to communicate with, and interested in learning and accomplishing tasks well. Lots of fun to hang out with, too. It was fun to practice compound verbs together hahahaha. Besosssss guyss, be well, miss you! :D

Elle and Charly were special ones!!! They are really open, honest people who came to us with a real desire to live and work on a permaculture homestead and commit to everything that involves. Elle has a lot of common sense (not all volunteers do hahaha) and a knack for carpenty as well, which is really helpful! Charly was so interested and enthusiastic about the work- such a hard worker, through the sweat and sun. Always asking if he can be helpful in any other way. It was really nice to see how much they connected with the island as well, making friends here and exploring local life. Very chill, down to earth, good people. Hoping they'll come back someday soon! Charly- your next chess bet with Josh awaits! hahahaha
