We had the pleasure of hosting Fatih as a volunteer in our hostel for a full month, and we can confidently say that he exceeded all expectations. From the very beginning, he proved to be incredibly reliable, responsible, and genuinely dedicated to helping in any way needed. He approached every task with enthusiasm and attention to detail, whether it was assisting guests, keeping the space organized, or supporting the team during busy periods. What truly stood out about him is his trustworthiness. We always felt completely at ease knowing that any responsibility given to him would be handled with care and integrity. He is someone you can fully rely on, both professionally and personally. Beyond his work ethic, he brought a positive energy to the hostel that guests and staff alike appreciated. He was friendly, respectful, and created a welcoming atmosphere for everyone around him. We are truly grateful for the time he spent with us and would highly recommend him to any future host or team. He is not only a great volunteer but also a genuinely wonderful person to have around.

I had the luxury of staying with Candy, Kim, Choco, and company for a whole month and what an eventful month it was! From the beginning I truly felt welcomed as if I was family. Candy’s niece and nephew gave me the tour of the granja and my first meal was with the whole family! Through the month we did a major renovation of the house and there was always fun projects, great food, and amazing company. I was particularly lucky to overlap my stay with “the tias” which was genuinely my favorite 10 days of the whole experience. I lived amongst 5 Chilean women who were all very passionate about sharing their culture, customs, and language with me. My Spanish is still basic but taking this step in an all-Spanish household, I really saw my skills develop and encourage anyone else looking to push themselves to do the same. I was constantly asking how to say this or that and practicing my speaking and can honestly say this is the perfect environment to learn. To learn the language, the culture, and a more natural down to earth way of life. I truly feel as if I have a home far away from home in Chile now. Amongst all of the good times, laughs, and fond memories, thank you Candy and Kim for such an experience!

Orion was a great workaway guess. They fit right into the house and we're hoping they come back this way.

My five weeks here, as the second volunteer and the fist woman, were full of sourprises and challenges. Claire and Joe were carrying the weight of what it means to set up, in just six mounths, the part of the project open to the public, while continuing to develop new ideas and The Tavern, a space that will allow them to welcome more visitors and offer more services. During my stay, the video " 1 An comme jamais"/" 1 Year of Château du Vot", was released on Youtube, which gives a clear sense of the scale of the challange they have taken on. My own contribution focus on improving certain aereas, maken them cleaner and more care for. I painted doors and windows, brought two trunks, a chest, a swing machine and the recepcion counter back to life, and prepared the kitchen so that, while awaiting its parcial demolition, it can serve as a creative workspace for future workawayers, for painting and restoiring to music and coffe times. I also remover moss and damp from doors, windows, pathway, and stairs. I left the place in a welcoming mood. My hosts, Claire an Joe, have my respect, their dedication is absolute, and mine was too. It is a very beautiful place, somewhat isoleted if you do not drive, but sourrended by towns and cities full of beauty and the charme of Brittany, which the hosts are happy to share. If you are drawn to challanges, value work well done, and whish to contribute to a meaningful project and its history, your stay at The Château du Vot will be very rewarding. To finish, my sincere thanks to Claire and Joe to the opportunity to be part of such an ambitious project at an early stage. I gave my full energy and commitment, and I leave with the satisfaction of having contributed. I wish them both the very best as the project continues to grow.

One of the best workaway experiences we had: the only problem was that it was too short, because Matthias is such a nice person that we felt we missed some time to enjoy a bit longer his pleasant presence. A sweet, hardworking, tidy, knowledgeable, generous and interesting person. Highly reccommended also just as a host. Hoping to see him again soon.

This was my first Workaway experience, and I am truly glad I decided to come! It was one of the best decisions I made this year. Catherine and her family are very warm and welcoming people, and I really enjoyed the time I spent with them and the other Workawayer. During my stay, I learned many things in a natural way. Catherine taught us how to make a delicious salad dressing, her homemade bread was wonderful, and she even cures her own ham. Her niece also made an amazing cake and generously shared the recipe. I later tried it myself and it turned out great. This experience felt especially meaningful to me. In Taiwan, life is very convenient and it’s easy to rely on ready-made food, but here I felt a stronger connection to making things by hand. It inspired me to try to cook and bake more during my time in Canada. I also learned how to use a wood stove, which was completely new to me, and it became one of my favorite memories. Cleaning the house could sometimes be a challenge, as it is large and full of character, but it was also a great way to experience a different way of living. Catherine is understanding and open to communication, and it is always possible to find a good balance between helping and personal time. There are also many small but meaningful moments, like when she told me I have a beautiful smile while we were talking about my childhood, and of course, the unforgettable “toothbrush incident,” which is much funnier when she tells it. Overall, I would sincerely recommend staying with Catherine if you are considering a Workaway in Montreal. It is a warm and memorable experience.

I had the best time on the farm and met amazing people! Len and Michelle are great hosts and we had loads of fun together. I learnt a lot about all sorts of things and did things I've never expected to do! I got to play and cuddle with the animals and especially with the dogs and horses I got to spend time with a lot. The food we cooked was always delicious and I got to bake a lot of delicious baked goods! seriously a great place to be to experience living on a farm and taking care of animals, gardens and the house!

Clara visited us shortly after Storm Kirstin and her grounded and conscious presence was very welcome. She took our hectic last minute change of plan in her stride and adapted to our needs which is highly appreciated. Ready for action and working unsupervised, she contributed hugely to our replanting project and we were impressed with her plant knowledge and attention to detail. Always ready with a smile and full of energy, she honestly leaves a very positive light in her wake. Thank you Clara for gracing us with your presence, for leaving behind not just seeds and spices but new skills and memories and may life be abundant with all that is good for you.

It was my first volunteering experience. At first, I was apprehensive, but after entering this wonderful home and meeting the family and the extraordinary people with their unique and beautiful personalities, I felt comfortable and safe. They are truly a great and unique family. Starting with Thomas, I felt in him the spirit of a father and an older brother. His lightheartedness made me feel at ease. Then Kim, a beautiful, unique, strong, organized, and natural leader. You will never find anyone like her or with her qualities. She seems like a woman of steel, but in moments of fun, she is gentle, cheerful, and full of joy. I don’t think I will ever meet anyone like her. Then Marvin 🫶👊, my brother, who is very close to my heart—kind, affectionate, a little crazy, generous, and always helpful. I love you so much, my brother. And Martin, with his organized and tidy mind. He seems to me like a scientist or a doctor. If you need advice or help from a reliable source, Martin is the answer. I love you, my brother. And Katrina, whose beautiful laughter and positive energy you will never get tired of—always smiling and laughing. It wasn’t just a volunteering experience; it felt like staying with my second family. I say to everyone: if you want to learn, gain skills, experience love and friendship, play, have fun, and enjoy plenty of food—go without hesitation. I love you all guys 💗 and I will come to you again soon. I will definitely never forget u and San Patrick's Day. 😉😁😁😁

My stay with Kacka, Jachym and their sons was a wonderful experience. They are a generous and warm hearted family, and their various projects are inspiring. I got stuck into a number of jobs, and helping Jachym with digging the swimming pool was great fun, and helped with the occasional Czech beer chilled by the spring-fed steam in their garden. The surrounding area is beautiful with some good walks and lots of bike ride options. Looking at the Bohemian moonlight from the shepherd's hut will stay with me for a long time. I hope to spend more time with this wonderful family in the future.

I had the pleasure of volunteering for Iris and Christo for 4 weeks. I met them while volunteering at another shelter nearby a year ago, and immediately fell in love with their “little” sanctuary, that offers a wonderful life to about 35 dogs and 18 cats who live in a beautiful piece of land with lots of room to run, play and sunbathe. The dogs live in packs rather than in cramped little kennels which allows them to socialize and have a better quality of life, along with scheduled walks. The cats live in a well maintained sunny room with a garden, where they can roam freely. Their place runs very smoothly with a clear daily schedule and relatively easy tasks for anyone who`s looking for a volunteering experience that has a great work-life balance. Iris is a strong-willed woman who is deeply dedicated to the well-being of her animals and is very experienced in dog behavior and training, and Christo has great mechanical skills, lots of love for his dogs and extensive knowledge. Both of them care for the animals as their true furry children. They are very passionate about the injustices that stray dogs in Greece have to endure, and rescue them whenever possible.🤎🐾 I had such a wonderful time and shared many great conversations with them both, and befriended amazing fellow workawayers! This place is truly a hidden gem in Greece As a volunteer, you will be sleeping in your own tent (basics like mattress, nightstand and clothing rack are provided) and share the space with other volunteers, a washing machine is also available. Workawayers have their own area with separate kitchen and shower, along with a few dogs who will require your love and attention :). Workdays are relatively short (compared to other shelters), allowing you more free time for hobbies, socializing and rest. On your days off you can travel to other cities in the area using public transport. I have already promised to come visit and can`t wait to meet all the lovely dogs and cats again!

David has spent a week with us, helping us with a rather difficult job of building base ancors for our swimming pond structure, which we have been inventing on the go. The way he joined this place was helpful in a rare way. David was a cheerfull yet calm companion, genuinly interested in everything and very skilled and hard working. We have had great conversations and it was very valuable for us to share our life and plans with someone considerably older than us with much more life experience and shared values. We often welcome guests who are young people looking to learn form us, what a treat to be spending time with someone we can actually learn from. The fact that David shared our crazy drive for getting absurd jobs done at odd hours of day/night was just a cherry on top of a cake. Kacka also fell very ill during David´s stay and he took some great care of our two kids, driving them to a festival and generally just being independent, sensible, positive and helpful. David, you will always be welcome here!

When Cat arrived here it was like she's been here all along. Defenitely recommended! She did a lot of things in the garden with great confidence; I can't remember having to explain anything. I felt comfortable too with Cat around and really appreciated her taking care of the cooking when I was bizzy with work and building.

Iga stayed with us for two weeks together with her friend, and having them here was truly a wonderful experience. From the very beginning, Iga was warm, thoughtful, and a real pleasure to have around. She is studying archaeology, and you can immediately notice how curious, interested, and open-minded she is. We had many lovely conversations, and she brought a very positive and calm energy to our home. During her stay, she helped us a lot in the garden and with various small projects around the house. She was always willing to help, worked reliably, and did everything with care and a great attitude. It was clear that she really wanted to contribute and be part of daily life here. What made her stay especially nice was not only her help, but also who she is as a person. Both she and her friend were wonderful company for walks, conversations, and shared time together. They were simply lovely people to have around. Iga is also especially kind and loving with animals. Our animals absolutely adored her — and we can honestly say they would be especially happy to see her again. We can recommend Iga with all our heart to any future host. She would be a gift to any place she goes. And of course, she is always very welcome to come back anytime.

We had a wonderful experience hosting Chris on our farm. He helped us build a coffee stand, and his carpentry skills were truly impressive — precise, efficient, and very professional. Beyond his technical abilities, he brought a great positive energy to the place. I really enjoyed his company, and we shared many interesting conversations around the fire, which made the experience even more special. He is reliable, hardworking, and a pleasure to have around. I highly recommend him to any host looking for someone skilled, dedicated, and easy to get along with.

"Brechje was much more than just a Workawayer to us; she became part of our family. She has a wonderful, cheerful nature and cared for everyone like a mother. She was incredibly generous, bringing us sweets and presents, and even treated us to dinner. Her departure was very emotional for all of us, and there were tears when she left. Beyond her kindness, she is a talented teacher who provided immense help to my students. We miss her dearly and truly hope she comes back to visit us one day. No words can thank her enough!"
