Description
I am an English hiking guide and for over 40 years lived in a traditional stone cottage in Skopelos town. During that time I found and cleared the old trails as best I could for my own enjoyment and convenience. Later, for 12 years, with the help of Workaway volunteers, this morphed into a non profit organisation which reinstated, maintained and protected the ancient heritage stone paths and trails. It was tough, tiring and dirty but rewarding work. Eventually the work got too much for me. I have now moved out of town to a remote cottage set in 6K sq.m. of plum, olive and other trees. There is tanked water collected from the roof and no wifi; I use my phone's 5g.which works pretty well. I'm looking for someone who has experience of self-sufficient living who can help me set up a woodchip toilet, compost area with roof and guttering, a log store and keeping the land clear using a petrol strimmer. I have all the necessary tools. My dog, Molly is very friendly but does not always get on well with other dogs.

Cultural exchange and learning opportunities
You will experience real Greek countryside living. I have published two books about the natural world of Skopelos plus a walking guide book of the area. I also like to frequent the typical Greek tchiperathiko which are very traditional.

Help
I need man power to do the jobs I can't; heavy lifting and simple carpentry for example. Someone with a knowledge of sustainable living would be preferred and a solid do-it-yourself, practical background.

Accommodation
At the moment it will have to be camping or campervan on site or, until it is sold, my town house which is a half hour drive away. You'd have use of my car. There is a room in the cottage that floods where one could sleep but only in dry weather.

What else ...
There are many hiking trails which I have personally cleared right on the doorstep. We can drive to a nearby beach and you can use the car if you want to go exploring. A local sight called Sendoukia is nearby. There is no public transport nearby.

work as it rained a lot but Augustin fixed an electric heater and helped with some computer stuff. I taught him the basics of playing the ukulele. He was an enthusiastic cook and eager to help with anything.
