  Description

  Hi, we are SKANDER and KAMAL, two friends and associates.
  Kamal has lived in Guyana for 17 years and has worked for various tourism and catering players in Guyana.
  Skander is a travel agent and guide in the Amazon environment. He lived in Peru 5 years ago to set up an ecolodge called "CHAKAPATA ECOLODGE" where he received many workaway volunteers!
  
  In 2019, we bought a in French Guyana in order to develop eco-tourism in eastern Guyana. Currently, on the camp, we are working with Manuel, our boatman, who is also doing an introduction to traditional gold panning as well as basketry. His son Nathan is the camp cook.
  We also have teams of punctual local workers when we have big jobs to do (construction of a carbet, restoration of a roof, and miscellaneous work). We also receive many friends at the camp who give us a little help with the work.
  
  The camp was not maintained for a few years, so we had a lot of work to do in order to make it functional again. But we still need help with maintenance: cheers! :)

  Kamal vit en Guyane depuis 17 ans et a travaillé pour différents acteurs du tourisme et de la restauration en Guyane.
  Skander est agent de voyages et guide dans l'environnement amazonien. Il a vécu au Pérou il y a 5 ans pour monter un écolodge appelé "CHAKAPATA ECOLODGE" où il a reçu de nombreux volontaires de workaway !
  
  En 2019, nous avons acheté un en Guyane française afin de développer l'éco-tourisme dans l'est de la Guyane. Actuellement, sur le campement, nous travaillons avec Manuel, notre batelier, qui fait également une initiation à l'orpaillage traditionnel ainsi qu'à la vannerie. Son fils Nathan est le cuisinier du camp.
  Nous avons également des équipes d'ouvriers locaux ponctuels lorsque nous avons de gros travaux à réaliser (construction d'un carbet, restauration d'une toiture, travaux divers). Nous recevons aussi beaucoup d'amis au camp qui nous aident un peu dans les travaux.
  
  Le camp n'a pas été entretenu pendant quelques années, nous avons donc eu beaucoup de travail à faire afin de le rendre à nouveau fonctionnel. Mais nous avons encore besoin d'aide pour l'entretien : bravo ! :)

  Au-delà de l'expérience unique qui vous attend, nous souhaitons aussi partager avec vous, vos et nos récits de voyages. Sur place nous sommes entourés d’un guide brésilien qui est une véritable encyclopédie de la forêt.
  Nous cherchons aussi et surtout des personnes simples, ouvertes d'esprit et surtout qui aiment travailler en rigolant !!

  Help

  It is an isolated camp in the middle of the Amazon, which means that there are all kinds of jobs, but mainly manual work.
  Indeed, it is an eco-construction which therefore requires daily maintenance. It will certainly be necessary to lend a hand in the kitchen, cleaning of the common areas, carbets, toilets, use of brush cutter and chainsaw (always under our supervision because dangerous), dishwashing, planting trees, repairing damaged boards, being serving and listening to customers, etc.
  
  For the moment, we therefore need determined volunteers to help us with the daily maintenance of the camp.
  
  PLEASE NOTE: good physical condition is required. Indeed some work can be exhausting due to their nature but also the heat and the humidity.

  Il s'agit d'un camp isolé en milieu amazonien, autant dire qu'il y a toutes sortes de boulots, mais essentiellement des travaux manuels.
  En effet, il s'agit d’une éco-construction qui nécessite donc un entretien quotidien. Il faudra certainement donner un coup de main en cuisine, nettoyage des parties communes, des carbets, des sanitaires, utilisation de débroussailleuse et tronçonneuse (toujours sous notre surveillance car dangereux), faire la plonge, planter des arbres, réparer des planches abîmées, être au service et à l'écoute des clients, etc ...
  
  Pour le moment nous avons donc besoin de volontaires déterminés pour nous aider au quotidien dans l’entretien du camp.
  
  ATTENTION : une bonne condition physique est requise. En effet certains travaux peuvent être harassant de part leur nature mais aussi la chaleur et l'humidité.

  Accommodation

  We have a carbet (traditional wooden construction) employed.
  
  Volunteers will be housed in a private carbet. You will sleep in hammocks. Meals will of course be provided. We can, if you do not have one, provide you with hammocks and mosquito nets (almost no mosquitoes in the forest). The sanitary facilities will be shared with everyone at the sanitary carbet.

  Nous disposons d'un carbet (construction traditionnelle en bois) employé.
  
  Les volontaires seront logés dans un carbet privé. Vous dormirez dans des hamacs. Les repas seront évidement fournis. Nous pouvons, si vous n'en disposez pas, vous mettre à disposition des hamacs et moustiquaires (quasiment pas de moustiques en forêt). Les sanitaires seront à partager avec tout le monde au carbet sanitaire.

  This is an isolated camp in Amazonian environments, so although the place is magical, you must also not be afraid of isolation and be resourceful :)
