Description
Hi, originally from the UK my home is in Cancun Mexico and I really want to practice my Spanish !!!! My name is Dee, After travelling solo for 6 years, as a volunteer and independently, in 2011 I came to Mexico for a travel "break" and never left!!
Fast forward, I am currently living in Cancun, with my 3 adorable cats... you would need to love cats very much to be happy here !!!!
I recently moved to another house so the references you will see on my site refer to my workaway guests from my previous house, so you would be my first house guest in this house!
Here, the house is smaller, fairly new and in a gated Mexican community with a lovely swimming pool. It is around 6km from "downtown" so not exactly centro, but not too far. The living arrangements are that you would have a private bedroom, and a shared bathroom. Use of kitchen etc. to prepare meals. As with my previous workaway friends, I do not provide food because it is so difficult to cater for the needs of people from other cultures. and I really enjoy cooking with my guests so typically cooking is a shared experience. In return for your help I only ask people to help me for 3.5 hours a day 5 days a week, and the rest of the time is yours!
What I am looking for specifically: I am a recently retired English teacher. My gift to myself on retirement was a promise to learn Spanish properly. So I am thinking of a language exchange to help with learning Latin Spanish and , in exchange teaching British English, or helping you to practice English with me!

**** Note **** while I can accommodate two people, this is in one room and with one matrimonial size bed, so only really suitable for travel buddies who do not mind bunking down together, couples, or singles.
Use of the house and general areas, TV lounge, kitchen, dining room. Because I only ask you to help for 3.5 hours a day I would expect you to provide all of your meals for yourself so be aware that no food is included with this placement. I have learned that it is so difficult to please everyone regarding food so I just ask for minimum hours and that you take care of your own food requirements. There is a full kitchen where you can prepare your meals.
** AC is available between 10pm and 6am but due to the high cost of electricity here there would be a daily fee if you wanted to use it all day and every day.... We try to conserve energy where possible. So I ask that visitors use resources responsibly.
What else ...
Cancun is a honeypot of things to do in your spare time!!! The local beaches are a bus ride from the house. Aside from down-time on the local beach there is so much to explore, Mayan Ruins, beautiful beaches, local markets and restaurants, and of course the Hotel Zone of Cancun which is around 6 km away. As a traveler myself, I can help you with tips, advice, recommendations to help you make the most of your free time in Cancun.
