    Description

We have a beautiful 1 acre lifestyle block in historic Waimate North with beautiful views of rolling hills and farmland about 15 minutes from Kerikeri. Ideally, you'll want your own transport.(no buses out here! :-)

We need help with some projects around the property including getting the vegetable garden ready for spring planting, digging a path, and a possible building project.
So we're looking for someone who doesn't mind getting their hands dirty and might know a bit about building basic structures.

In return we will provide free accommodation, wifi internet and TV. You would be staying in a modern granny flat which is separate from the house with heating and bathroom. It has a small fridge, simple cooking facilities like a microwave, bench top oven and element. You will need to take care of your own breakfast and lunch, and come join us for dinner. We will provide cereal, tea/coffee and milk in the unit.

We are christians in our beliefs, values and lifestyle choices so we try to walk our talk and treat others as we would have them treat us.

My husband works on the dairy farm down the road and I am a jazz pianist and singer and I teach piano from here.

We keep chickens, two beehives, a very friendly dog who loves playing with a tennis ball (plus two more dogs now!) and a cat. There is also a big vegetable garden, avocado trees and a whole bunch of assorted fruit trees that I keep planting!

We look forward to meeting you! :-)

We grow most of our fruit and vegetables with the aim of being self sufficient in that area. People who stay with us learn how to germinate seeds, prepare the soil for planting, and plant seedlings. There will be lots of outdoor projects to do like pruning trees//hedges and some problem solving too. I'm guessing we're not too different to other countries when we do this kind of work outside, but I'm hoping we will also learn from our visitors.
If you play a musical instrument we like to play music so you're welcome to join us and play music together.

we need to weed the vegetable garden to get ready for planting watermelons and other vegetables, the garden is not small! :-)
Also, my husband has started digging a path to go to the cabin. You will be helping with that if it isn't finished.
The cabin needs a canopy to be built to shade from sun and rain. We are working out a plan to build one. So this will be a project we are hoping someone will be able to help us with.
Plus any other general outside Spring maintenance like weeding under fruit trees, pruning etc.
