    Description

Hi, we are a German family living in beautiful Norway, directly by the Romsdalsfjord in the Rauma region. We moved to Norway to build a new life, run our own tourism business, and enjoy the fantastic nature this country has to offer.
Our family consists of two adults, two children (6 and 8 years old), and a friendly Labradoodle. Life with us is often busy, but also full of adventure. We enjoy spending time outdoors, fishing, boating, hiking, exploring the mountains and fjords, and meeting people from different cultures.
We operate a small tourism and fishing business and are currently building exciting new projects. We are looking for someone who would like to become part of our daily family life, help with the children from time to time, and enjoy the unique experience of living in one of Norway's most beautiful regions.
We are open-minded, honest, and appreciate direct communication. We believe that a Workaway experience should be beneficial for everyone involved and hope to create a welcoming environment where you feel like part of the family while still having plenty of freedom to explore Norway on your own.
We look forward to meeting new people, sharing experiences, and creating great memories together

    Cultural exchange and learning opportunities

Living with us offers a unique opportunity to experience everyday life in Norway while being part of an international family. We are originally from Germany, previously lived in Sweden, and now live in Norway, so our daily life combines influences from several cultures.
You will have the chance to learn about Scandinavian culture, traditions, and outdoor living while also experiencing how a small tourism business operates in one of Norway's most beautiful fjord regions.
We are happy to share our knowledge about Norway, fishing, boating, tourism, and life as a family that has emigrated and started a new chapter abroad.
Our home is located directly by the Romsdalsfjord, surrounded by mountains, waterfalls, and incredible nature. During your free time you can explore the area, go hiking, fishing, kayaking, boating, visit nearby villages and attractions, or simply enjoy the peaceful Norwegian lifestyle.
We also enjoy learning about other cultures and languages and look forward to sharing experiences, stories, traditions, and food from different parts of the world. We hope that your stay will feel less like work and more like a genuine cultural exchange and adventure

  • Help

    Help

We are mainly looking for help with our children and some light support around daily family life.
Typical tasks may include picking the children up from school, spending time with them after school, playing games, doing outdoor activities, helping with simple meals, and occasionally supervising them while we are working.
We would especially appreciate support on Wednesdays, Fridays, and Saturdays, although the exact schedule can be discussed together and adjusted when needed.
In addition to childcare, there may occasionally be some light household tasks such as helping to keep shared areas tidy, loading or unloading the dishwasher, or helping with simple everyday chores.
We are not looking for a cleaner or heavy physical labor. Our goal is to find someone who enjoys spending time with children, likes nature, and would enjoy becoming part of our family life while experiencing Norway.
We offer accommodation, meals, a welcoming family environment, and the opportunity to explore the stunning fjords, mountains, and outdoor activities that our region has to offer. Fishing, boating, hiking, and enjoying Norwegian nature are all right on our doorstep

  • Accommodation

    Accommodation

We offer a private room with a beautiful view of the fjord and the surrounding mountains. The room is located in a quiet area and provides a comfortable space to relax and enjoy the stunning Norwegian scenery.
You will have access to your own small kitchen, allowing you to prepare meals independently whenever you like. The bathroom is shared with the family

You will be part of our family life and share meals with us whenever possible. We provide breakfast, lunch, and dinner, and you are always welcome to join our family table. We enjoy simple, homemade food and often use local ingredients, fish, berries, mushrooms, and other products from nature. You will also have access to your own small kitchen if you prefer to prepare meals independently from time to time.

  • What else ...

    What else ...

We highly value clear, honest, and direct communication. We believe that discussing expectations openly from the beginning helps create a positive experience for everyone.
A valid driving licence is essential for this position. We live in a rural area, and daily life, school pickups, shopping, and exploring the region are much easier with a car. Without a driving licence, this Workaway opportunity is unfortunately not a good fit.
We would especially enjoy hosting someone who appreciates nature and outdoor living. We enjoy fishing, foraging for mushrooms and berries, and making use of what nature provides. Therefore, it would be great if you enjoy eating fish and are curious about learning more about a natural Scandinavian lifestyle. You do not need previous experience, but being open-minded and comfortable around fishing, outdoor activities, and wildlife is important.
Our goal is to live as close to nature as possible and share this way of life with people who appreciate the same values
