    Description

    Hi there! My name is Curtis Originally I am from the UK but I’ve spent the best part of the last 10 years on the road. After a recent 2 year gap in travel…. I decided it was time to head back on the road and to South America in search of a place to start a farm with a little guest house and open plan restaurant with an incredible view. As a chef it was a dream I had had for many years and after a painfully long time spent in the UK, inching my feet, I knew that the time was now. I’d planned to start in Brazil but fate had other plans and redirected me to Ecuador. After a time on the road you learn to just go with the river’s flow sometimes. And so, in a boat made of hopes, dreams and aspirations, I sailed down into uncharted waters. It wasn’t long until I was brought to the Intag river's bewitching shores. I started here as a guest, then, not wanting to leave, I became a volunteer and it wasn’t long before I fell involve with the place, decided to live here and became a partner.

    Here we run a modest guest house in the centre of the picturesque Intag Valley. With the famous Rio Intag rushing by at the end of the garden and the high, luscious green walls of the valley guiding it from either side, it seems hard to think of a finer place to see some of the most bio diverse and beautiful wildlife in the world.

    Our goals for the next year are;

    To market ourself to more people through social media and with events at the guest house

    To clear the land on the far side of the property for a new build starting at the end of next year.

    To grow as much food for our kitchen as possible. We have been working on creating an all purpose garden on the top of our little hill. As volunteers, the garden will be where you put in the most work. Most days in the garden won’t take more than a couple of hours but occasionally there will be a full days work to be put in. We also have a full planting bed available for volunteers to plant whatever they like and with some many interesting plants just a 5 minute walk away, propagating the local wildlife into the garden can be the most fascinating pass time.

    Our last goal is the most important of all and it’s one we live by everyday. Exceptional hospitality. This is a home to us here and a home away from home to many more. We treat every person that comes with the respect and kindness of family. We don’t just cook for our guests, we dine with them. We talk with them, share our favourite experiences of the valley with them. And when they want to go on adventures, we take them. Basically we want people to feel how we feel about this little portion of paradise as we do. We are very fortunate that the nature here is so incredible that it does most of the work, we’re just here as the icing on the cake.
    Although dealing with guests is not part of the work we want from you, we do please ask that for your stay here that you try to live by these values.

    I NEED A SPANISH TEACHER! My Spanish is awful and it would be great to have someone here to help push my learning along at little. If you have fluent English and Spanish (and patience) and are willing to teach, I'll put you to the top of the list :)

    With so much nature around here there's an almost endless list of things you can learn. Just down the road from us we have friends doing incredible things on their farms where you can go to learn a thing or two. We also offer long term volunteers the opportunity to take a course in the local nature here.
    I love music! And here at there house we have a bunch of instruments that you can play. I'm by no means a pro with any of them but if you'd like to jam then I'd be happy to teach you.
    For the adventurous types its a great location since we are in a Valley of valleys, around every turn there's a new path and a new adventure waiting to be uncovered
