    Description

Update from Torstamala for 2026 mars!

Dear Workawayers, we are looking for people with a good spirit to come and join the farm this spring !!
we are looking out extra for people to join in the whole season, but also for people coming on their own staying for a shorter time!

Staying for the whole season,we hope could give people some serious skills in self sufficiency: the chance to learn the whole growing process from seed planting to harvesting, animal raising from birth, and a wide range maintenance skills that are beautiful to have to build a home.

    Note!!
We are however, still open for people who want to come for shorter visits, and people who want to come by themselves, so please don't let this put you off if you want to come.

As always we invite your unique gift to be brought in to what we do here. And we hope that by the end of your stay you will have gained lots of knowledge and experience.

From March we are ,sprouting seeds indoors, growing Veggies and salads in our greenhouse, Cutting fire-wood , preparing kitchengarden beds, birthing the lambs and chickens and waking the farm up from the winter indiffrent ways

This goes into the summer where we are growing the veggies, watering and weeding, cutting grass, fixing windows, and more chopping.
Autumn we harvest, pick mushrooms and berrys preserve, cider-making, tidying, fixing, singing, and getting the farm ready for winter.

We wish for our volunteers to help with general life tasks like tidying and cooking and cleaning dishes etc, as extra to the workday. Most of the time we will all eat together , to then take the space we all need.

We are a family with a child that have travelled the world and now have settled to give passion to The Joy of growing since 7 years. Here in "little land" we found a tiny farm with lots of abundance and possibilities to be self-sustaining, Raffaella 37 from Sweden/Italy, that have her big love for growing veggies, medicinal plants and preserving things from nature. Been working as vegetarian cook True The years, and later on studied to become a garden master in biodynamic farming.
Simon 44 Englishman is growing into The life on the countryside, becoming a handyman in everything he takes on, have travelled lots and lots. Simon is also musician and loves all around music.
Our Son Joshua is 4 years old and can be everything, sometimes calm, sometimes a monster, can be creative and destructive. Shy and extrovert.but curious and much loving towards people. He likes joining in on everything.

Both Simon & myself are old work-awayers and see this as a beautiful way of exchanging knowledge, passion and Great project such as art, music, handcraft, food nature and much more.

Here we live in total nature with lots of forests, lakes, wild animals and what is called The glass kingdom. We have beautiful bigger towns in every direction and The sea with different Islands.
Most of all we try to build up this forgotten little farm, with eatable trees, kitchen gardens, greenhouse, house fixing making good food using foods from nature and try to live in harmony with less.
As now we live with 2 dogs: little Kiko, our street dog from Portugal and Orza that came to life on our sofa. We have chickens, and 4 pregnant sheep, and beautiful Cat, Brutus.

we have now been here for 6 years and hosted amazing volunteers that has helped us so much building our dream here.. the kitchen garden is never completed. two greenhouses are up. Sheeps are fenced in, wood is filling the wood room and the herb garden is established,we have a outside kitchen and community farming projekt with other farms. 2024 we had a a Pickers club project , where familys signed up to harvest vegetable, we grow, True out The season. We run a Cafe and Creperie during the summer months and Simon and myself share this work load, so most of the time there will be just 1 of us at home. Sometimes you will be here by yourselves as there may be missions, events and small holidays that will mean you will have to be self going.

We also have a beautiful community of friends who live in the area and are on similar vibes, weather that be farming or Arts. There will be gatherings and evenings around the fire. But sometimes, it will be still, calm, and we look to find people who are happy to entertain themselves.

Please do write an application directed to us after you have read the information. The bulk mail applications is nothing we are interested or have time for. We have Veggies to grow and animals to feed =) we arent here to offer either a rehab or mental health support work, so please make sure that you are being honest with us when you write to us...

    Lots of light.
    Simon and Raffaella

  • Help

    Help

We like people with a good spirit to come and join us being in the kitchen, garden, helping with our animals, making good food, foraging, cleaning, lifting, tidying, preserving, recycling and hopefully your own passion and what you can bring along. There will always be some more work than we can comprehend, and some tasks are delicate and gentle, and some are dirty, psychically draining and repetitive.

  • Accommodation

    Accommodation

The farm has a house, a cabin and a barn with workshop.. All of it is simple, in The wintertime we use woodburners for our heating. The toilet is an outside composting toilet. We have a poor excuse of a shower, its good because it uses little water, but a long soak is not possible. However we have a wonderful woodburning sauna and outdow shower summer time.
you Will either stay in The cabin, that is super simple but old and charmy, or summer time in our tiny house on wheels. Free spirits can stay in a hamock in The garden (not recommended in the winter months, unless you are true viking).....or in a tent.

As for now, we have started renting in The cabin summer time. and Therefor it might be guests in there..
The space we have is tiny house on wheels, and even tent in summer.
