Description
Join our animal welfare project in Albania and help us make a difference for animals and humans!
IMPORTANT: We prefer volunteers to stay for at least one month, as this allows for meaningful engagement with the animals and their needs.
We are a small NGO working hard to help animals suffering on the streets of Durres, Albania. Last year, we bought new land just outside the city to build a shelter and, in the future, a veterinary clinic. Our project is moving forward quickly, and we need your help. About 70 dogs are already living on our land in temporary shelters.
Our organization was started in 2016 by Jenny, a woman with Swiss and Albanian roots. We aim to spay and neuter both stray and owned cats and dogs in Durres, helping to reduce the number of unwanted animals on the streets. Besides our monthly spay/neuter projects, we teach people about responsible pet ownership and run three dog shelters in Durres, housing around 90 dogs.
Our new project site is a lively place for international volunteers and visitors. We offer three bedrooms where our volunteers can stay, providing ample opportunity to spend quality time with the dogs. There are many different tasks for volunteers because we are still developing and have numerous dogs to care for.
The most important part of our project is to enjoy the moment and the company of our four-legged friends, along with the people working together to make a difference for animals and humans. :)Types of help and learning opportunities

I stayed at the shelter for 3 weeks. Molly was always there with us, teaching us new things with a lot of patience. She made sure we had everything we needed. The work is varied: cleaning cages, repairing fences and dogs houses, etc.
Bravo to her and Jenny for everything they do at the shelter! The dogs… read more
