Description
Hello everyone!
I’m excited to announce that I’ve reopened my Workaway account and am ready to host travellers again! After spending the past year in Australia completing my studies and research, I’m now back home in Sumatra. If you’ve seen my low response rate or rating, please don’t worry — I had deactivated my account during that time.
I’m a 29-year-old full-time farmer and part-time researcher living in Tapanuli, North Sumatra, Indonesia. I stay on my farm in a small, cozy cabin surrounded by rice fields and tropical crops — banana, coconut, mango, avocado, papaya, and more. The farm is about 150 km from Lake Toba and just two hours from Sibolga beach. It’s a peaceful, non-touristy area, nestled among forests, rivers, and the quiet rhythms of rural life.
At the moment, I don’t have a fixed project, but there’s always something to do around the farm — from helping me renovate my cabin to tending the snack fruit garden or the paddy field (only if you’d like to try it!). You’ll also have plenty of time to work on your own projects, rest, or explore the surrounding area.
Because of the cabin’s small size and local cultural norms, I can only host one male volunteer at a time. I hope you can understand this cultural consideration.
If you’re looking for an authentic farmstay experience in a remote Sumatran village — far from the tourist trail — I’d be very happy to host you. Come learn, share, and experience the life here in the Tapanuli highlands!
I’m looking forward to welcoming you soon!Types of help and learning opportunities

Cultural exchange and learning opportunities
As an environmental researcher, I'm passionate about collaborating and sharing knowledge to protect our planet. I also hope we can connect together and feel like a close-knit community, rather than strangers. During your stay at my cabin house, you'll experience a sense of home and have access to everything you need to unwind and relax.
In addition to providing a comfortable stay, I offer opportunities for engaging in activities that promote a slower pace of life. You can indulge in nourishing meals, practice yoga and meditation, and embrace the tranquility of the surroundings. By staying with me, you'll also have the chance to immerse yourself in our rich traditional culture. Learn planting rice paddy, explore our snake fruit garden, partake in traditional ceremonies, savor our local cuisine, and marvel at the beauty of the natural landscapes that surround us.
Let's come together, collaborate, and make a positive impact on our environment while embracing the vibrant cultural heritage of the region.Help
-Farm Maintenance: Help with repairing and fixing any broken items, maintaining cleanliness in the farm area, and removing weeds.
-DIY and Building Projects:
If you happen to be an experienced carpenter, handyman, it would be fantastic to collaborate on DIY and building projects. However, please don't worry if you lack experience in this area. We can work on these projects together, learning and growing as we progress.
-Farm Stay Assistance (Optional):
Assisting with Rice Field Work: Depending on the season, your help may be required in the rice fields.
Engaging in Eco-Vegetable Gardening: Join me in tending to our eco-friendly vegetable garden, including tasks like composting, planting, and harvesting vegetables.
-Creating and Cooking Family Meals (Optional):
If you enjoy cooking, there is an opportunity for you to get creative and prepare family-style meals. This is entirely optional, and we can share the responsibility based on our preferences and culinary skills.
The goal is to create a collaborative and enriching experience where we can contribute, learn, and enjoy our time together.Languages

I sincerely hope that you can lend your support to all of these projects, as they are of great importance to me. By working together, we can bring these initiatives to life and make a tangible difference in our community.
As for the working hours, they can be tailored to suit your preferences. You have the freedom to adjust your work and rest schedule as you see fit. I do not expect you to be a full-time worker, but rather invite you to join me in a collaborative effort. You are welcome to supervise and guide me so that we can both contribute our best to the cause.A little more information
