Description
This isn’t a very professional op. Me and my boat (42ft Ketch) have been friends for over a year, we’re currently in Bocas Del Toro completing some upgrades, and it’s sometimes nice to have some company.
I work rotations as a marine engineer so trips aren’t planned until a month or so before. Please give me a shout if you’re interested in joining the crew and I’ll get in touch next time I’m planning to set sail x (or possibly never reply because I’m completely overwhelmed, sorry)
Please only reach out if you’re into sailing. Don’t want to be rude and I love that people are intrigued, I grew up watching La Vagabonde too so I get it, but I’m looking for people with some experience and/or passion.
2 berths available. A “double” V berth and a single on the sofa. There’s also a hammock on deck if you’re feeling brave and waterproof.
Spanish-speaking is a big plus and I’m dead keen to learn more about spearfishing. -

I’m from the UK unfortunately so you’d be forced to experience British culture…
The Culture of the indigenous Guna people in Guna Yala (San Blas) is significantly more interesting though. -
Help
Some help with provisioning and prepping, an extra hand to hold the wheel and pull some ropes while sailing and a bit of cooking.
Assistance with maintenance or upgrades to the boat when required.
Honestly it’s mostly just the work that goes into living on a boat with the odd bit of cleaning or maintenance mixed in. It always ends up being more like a holiday so we share food costs.
Still, if there is work to do, a proactive attitude is greatly appreciated. -

What else ...
The islands are very beautiful for exploring and snorkelling.
Cleanliness and personal hygiene would be appreciated, at least as much as possible on a boat.
There is a small Gecko that lives on the deck. We generally keep out of each other’s way but he’s a chill guy to hang with sometimes and he eats the flies.
Update: Very small Gecko found in October so possible entire family living onboard.
Update: 2 large Geckos, one very small one. Love the idea of a family but I don’t know what the life cycle of a Gecko is and the small one has been small for a while now… -

After staying with Sam on his boat, alongside two other workawayers, I can confirm: it is that good! We spent a beautiful two weeks in the region of Bocas del Torro. Mostly we stayed in a marina but also went for adventurous explorations … read more
Calm, positive and enthusiastic, she’d be welcome back anytime.
She was outgoing and friendly to everyone we met and would be welcome back anytime.
She was wonderful company and an excellent engineer. Sometimes you just have to put your spark plugs in the oven.

His ability to make friends wherever we went led to some fantastic experiences.
Ideal crewmate, cannot recommend enough.
