Description
Hello.
During the spring and summer of 2025 we would love to have your help with our project ', a privately owned natural land, open to the public. The project is completely financed by ourselves (no sponsors). We enjoy working in the garden and share the place with people, but for sure we depend on volunteer help to make it a success. Over the past 8 years, the place has become a well-known meeting place for the local people and is well-visited by passing cycle tourists. There are benches and tables for picnic, fireplace, fruit trees, berries bushes and different kind of artwork, mostly done by volunteers. Turists can also put up their tents if they like - for free off course.
We try to work with nature to achieve a beautiful, sustainable garden. We use no chemicals, and the garden is during the last years transformed into islands of habitat for insects, birds and other wildlife.
The buildings and the garden needs a loving hand, to keep it all look nice for the visitors, and we need to do even more creative projects. We do not have a 'complete plan' for what’s going to happen here, but we have a lot of space, some wishes and an open mind for what you are ready to contribute with.
About the house and the area around us
Our home is an old sawmill from 1905, located right next to 'Ravnborg forest' in the village 'Solbjerg Stationsby'.
We have about 400 m2 buildings with an atelier and a workshop for graphic art, painting, wood and metal. We have a 15.000 m2 area field, a small vineyard, a greenhouse, and two big barns.
Our home is only 8 km. from the seaport Øster Hurup, with a very nice beach and om the backside of the forest we have the National park called 'Lille Vildmose', which is Denmark’s biggest protected region. In our own backyard the bicycle path (route no. 21 ) runs all the way from Hadsund to Aalborg, and every summer lots of bicycling-tourist are passing our place on their way into the forest, to Lille Vildmose or to the beach.
The nearest merchant-shop is 5 km. away in Bælum. We have bicycles for you to borrow, so you can go by yourself, and you will of course always be able to get a lift to the bus in Terndrup, the train in Arden and the town Aalborg.
About us:
Synnøve is a fulltime teacher (mostly working at home with online students) and hobby artist. Jens is a retired MSc engineer and a very skilled craftsman. We have five grownup children , four grandchildren and a dog, Luka, and cat, Bella. You will probably meet most of the family during your stay. This summer we hope that Luka will have puppies.
Besides doing stuff at the workshops and the garden at home, we both love going for walks in the forest and at the beach, picking mushrooms, finding shells, photographing and exploring new paths. Jens is a skilled craftsman
We love to meet people from other cultures and we are happy to make a place where people feel free to be creative and inspire each other with small building projects, gardening, art and Land art.
Feel free to contact us, if you are interested :)
Kind regards

We have two non-smoker- rooms with a shared kitchen, washing machine and toilet. The bath is in the main house. We also have space for tents and house wagons. There is access to bicycles.
If you arrive by bus or train, we will be able to pick you up, so just give us a call.
Notice: We do NOT accept any kind of drugs at the farm. What else ...
You will have room and time for exploring the countrylife and landscape nearby, and maybe visit the national park "Lille Vildmose", where you will have the opportunity to spot eagles, wild boars, cranes, stags, otters and other big animals.. During summer there is a lot of activity at the seaport Øster Hurup nearby.
Aalborg, the capital of the northern part of Denmark, is about 40 km. from Solbjerg, and you can go there by bus or have a hike, when Synnøve goes to work in Aalborg.A little more information
