Description
Hi there. We are a friendly, welcoming, well-travelled and intrepid couple in our 40’s (plus one big, lovable dog) looking for helping hands with our waterfront home which we have been renovating for the past few years. It’s a beautiful, peaceful spot with stunning sunsets, abundant bird and marine life, good access to fishing and crabbing, and surrounded by a lovely small community.

Cultural exchange and learning opportunities
We're a friendly, active and social couple who genuinely enjoy sharing our home, knowledge and way of life with people from different backgrounds. We value cultural exchange and love learning about different cultures, traditions and perspectives. We enjoy sharing stories, skills, meals, books, boardgames, outdoor adventures and local knowledge, and introducing guests to the unique lifestyle, wildlife and natural beauty of our island community. When we're not working in our businesses or on our house, you'll often find us out on the water, travelling, or relaxing in our backyard. We're looking for positive, active, easy-going, non-smoking guests who enjoy nature and would like to experience island life in beautiful South East Queensland while sharing a little of their own culture and experiences along the way.

Help
We are looking for 1-2 people to help do tasks with us on ad-hoc projects on our house and garden (e.g. sanding, painting, gardening, cooking).
In exchange for food and comfy accommodation we ask that you provide 4 hours of help each day for 5 days a week (or 20 hours a week in a different configuration if that works better for everyone). You are welcome to enjoy the rest of the time to relax and explore the area.

While we sadly can only speak one language well, we are happy to assist you with your English as well as any work and travel tips. We have some experience with Australia's TESL system.
Accommodation
You will have your own own comfortable room and indoor/outdoor living space downstairs, including bathroom, TV, mini-fridge, free wifi, laundry access and a range of shared and cook your own meal options. We have kayaks and bikes for local exploration, and if our schedules and the weather align we may even get you out on our sailboat if you’re interested.

What else ...
Lamb Island sits among a cluster of islands, most accessible via a 5-10 minute free ferry and offering different food, nature and entertainment options which we encourage you to explore. Access to the mainland is via a 20 minute regular ferry, and from there you're able to explore Brisbane city, the Gold Coast, North Stradbroke Island, Moreton Island and more all within 1-2 hours.
Our lovely neighbours (Graham and Ellie) have been enjoying Workaway for years and introduced us to the concept! They're just a short walk away, so if you're a larger group looking to visit there may be an opportunity to accommodate you all between the two houses.
