    Description

We’re a relaxed Kiwi/Aussie couple with a curious 2-year-old toddler, currently finishing up the build of our family home in beautiful Cooks Beach. We’ve spent the past few years living simply on-site in a caravan while building, raising our little guy along the way. We love coastal living, being outdoors, and creating a peaceful, practical home edged by native bush. We’re friendly, down-to-earth, and enjoy sharing our slice of Kiwi life with others.

As an experienced builder Jamie can teach you some skills in building and construction. We enjoy sharing meals and the occasional sunset drink on the deck once tools are down. Life here is relaxed and family-oriented, and Workawayers are welcome to join in day-to-day life, whether that’s hanging out with us and our toddler, exploring the local beaches, or heading to the nearby cafes and eateries to enjoy some kai.

We have travelled a fair bit and love hosting people from different cultures and backgrounds and enjoy the exchange of stories, ideas, and ways of living. For us, it’s about connection — learning how others see the world, sharing experiences, and giving our little one early exposure to people from all walks of life.

    Help

We’re in the final stretch of building our new home in Cooks Beach. We’re looking for a practical, motivated Workawayer (or couple) to help us complete our deck and a few finishing projects so we can achieve code of compliance.

Help will mainly involve finishing the deck, general building and tidy-up projects, and odds and ends needed to get us over the compliance finish line.

Some building or DIY experience would be ideal, but a good attitude and willingness to help are just as useful.

You’ll be staying in our very comfortable, classic Kiwi-style caravan, which is cozy, dry, and well set up for living. It is completely private from the main house, set up with an attached kitchen and bathroom utility, and has its own covered deck area. This is actually where we lived while raising our little guy and building the house, so it’s practical and well-loved.

As both of us are working full time, and we have a little one, your meals will need to be cooked by you on the most part. The utility kitchen is fully equipped and we will provide cash per week so you can buy your own groceries, this will be $125 per person. We will be keen to share the odd meal together, just not every meal.

We live on a sloping section so it is not ideal for sleeping in, but there is loads of room for parking and you can enjoy the comfort of the caravan and attached buildings. There is an extra caravan plug off of our utility if you need to connect up.
