    Description

Our project is an NGO creating a network of self-sufficient sanctuary communities across the tropics, focusing on edible reforestation, ecological repair, and community living. We’re currently developing first live-in training centre in Flores, Peten Guatemala where individuals can gain hands on experience by attending workshops centred around the Life Diet & Seed to Seed Cycle!

Our environment is unlike anything most volunteers have probably experienced before. Beyond the physical work, we cultivate a space for deep reflection, open dialogue, and personal growth. Conversations here often venture into philosophy, self-development and the kind of honest exchanges that challenge you to think differently and see the world - and yourself - with fresh eyes. We place a strong emphasis on open communication and the art of asking good questions, because we believe that is where real growth begins. This is a space for individuals who are adaptable, curious and genuinely willing to look within.

When individuals volunteer at Live-In Training Centre, they are contributing their time and energy to an NGO project that is working to create a positive impact on the planet.

Right now, there is a unique opportunity to support us in the early stages by helping enhance the new space we’ve just moved into, while learning some new skills along the way. While there’s still plenty of work ahead, we’re making steady progress everyday.

You don’t need any special skills, just a willingness to help where it’s needed. If you’d like to be part of a small team bringing a bit of magic into this beautiful space, we look forward to meeting you. Check out our IG to learn more! - ask us for the link

We often enjoy having conversations that are centred around community living, self exploration & plants! We offer work shops based on the Life Diet and the Seed to Seed Cycle. The Life Diet is learning how to create delicious nourishing meals using the Life Diet principles. The Life Diet is a guideline that supports the optimal life of the plants we eat and how it affects the human body. The Seed-to-Seed Cycle is learning how we grow edible plants from seeds using methods that support the plant’s full life cycle. You’ll join us in seasonal tasks like sowing, planting, harvesting, and soil building to better understand our long-term food production system. Beyond the project there are many ways to immerse yourself in the local culture here like visiting the nearby ruins, (including Tikal), exploring the abundant food markets and walking through Flores Island to watch the sunset.

Indoors: assist in the kitchen (food prep plant based meals), helping with laundry, sweeping, mopping floors & general cleaning, scrubbing toilets, sinks, showers, emptying garbage & keeping communal areas tidy.

Outdoors: watering plants and helping out in the vivero (plant nursery), prep building to be painted (scraping old paint off, sanding), help paint exterior & interior of surfaces, general yard work: cleaning up after the animals, cleaning debris, pressure washing, organizing outdoor spaces.

**On Saturdays we’ve started a weekly Community Farmers Market that’s held from 9-2pm! :) it’s a pretty lite day and it’s a great way to get to know the local community/farmers.**

More details about the cleaning schedule are available to review on a pdf.

We are open to volunteers with other skillsets, such as carpentry, design, gardening & social media etc. We can discuss your strengths to find where your help can be most beneficial.

If one is eager and is interested in what we’re creating there is more opportunities available that go beyond a support role during your stay in Guatemala.
