We are an Australian artist couple creating the Migration as Art Museum in the beautiful Piedmont village called Conzano.
Our aim is to enhance social connectedness and foster connections, which develop links within new and existing global community members. In this way it seeks to encourage personal understandings between new migrants, not so new migrants and members of mainstream communities internationally.
It will have educational programs and the a studio residence for international creatives.
This year we have re-roofed the 1750 building and plan to begin renovations for the studio in November this year and would love to have enthusiastic volunteers to be part of this "world" vision.
Orhan Pamuk, the Nobel Prize-winning Turkish author, who founded the Museum of Innocence in Istanbul, was a keynote speaker at the 2016 International Council of Museums (ICOM) conference in Milan. He said that in the future we need "small and economical museums that address our humanity”.
He argues that, “In museums we have History, but what we need is stories. In museums we have nations, but what we need is people. We had groups and factions in museums, but what we need is individuals. Concluding that, “We need are small and economical museums that address our humanity.”

DIY and building projects
Travellers will become part of the development of a unique small Museum in a beautiful village of Conzano with wonderful people and cultural events. Montferrat is part of the region of Piedmont in northern Italy. It comprises roughly the modern provinces of Alessandria and Asti.
Our Museum Project requires the following skills:
Carpentry, landscape gardening, restoring an ancient well, brickwork including rendering.
Building skills would be helpful but not essential.
Accomodation will be a private room on the ground floor of our building.
Short bus trip from village to the train Station at Casale Monferrato. one hour Milan, one hour Turin! Great for cycling and nature. The small winding roads to villages such as Lu, San Maurizio and Cuccaro are locations of cultural events.
