Description
My name is Toni and I moved to Costa Rica, from California, 2 years ago, with my 2 teenage daughters. I bought an old hotel and completely updated and refurbished it, so everything is brand new. The hotel is right in the center of town and so it is easy to walk around to everything. I am proud to say that we are a very close family and welcome diversity into our space. We love and honor Costa Rican traditions but we also celebrate the fact that people visit our hotel, from all over the world, and we can continually learn about other places, people, and cultures. I currently have 3 full time employees, who are all from Costa Rica and have grown up in this area their entire lives. I have 2 full time receptionists who also help with cleaning and a full time cleaning person. Everyone regularly brings their families and pets to work with them and I have a small dog who is always onsite. My daughters and I are the ones who fill in if someone is on vacation or is sick.
Types of help and learning opportunities
Hospitality/TourismCultural exchange and learning opportunities
I hope to find people who are motivated to learn about the Costa Rican culture and who are motivated to work on their Spanish language skills. I would like people who are potential entrepreneurs, who would be interested in learning about how to run a small business in a foreign country. I would like to find people to volunteer with me who are interested in exploring the concepts of gentrification and who would be excited about sharing ideas on how to include the Costa Rican people in all aspects of this business.
Help
I am looking for people that are interested in learning how to run a small hotel in Costa Rica. Someone who would like to help out with cleaning rooms, helping reception, and help maintaining the property

I would absolutely love to become more familiar with a variety of other languages. I work with people from all over the world and I would love to connect with them on a deeper level by showing them I appreciate their language and culture.Accommodation
The workawayers would be sleeping in a shared room. There are 2 sets of bunkbeds in the space, with brand-new and very comfortable mattresses. The room is very modern with a brand new air conditioning unit and an updated bathroom. There are large lockers in the space to utilize for any personal affects. Outside of the room, there is a very large community kitchen with all of the amenities one would need to prepare their own meals. Breakfast will be included daily with the stay and there is a washer and dryer at their disposal, free of charge.
I will provide a variety of groceries for breakfast and snacks daily. I will ask for a shopping list of preferred foods from the workawayer or take them grocery shopping with me. The workawayer will be responsible for preparing their own breakfast and snacks in our community kitchen, which is well equipped. I don't like to assume what people like to eat or at what time and I feel this gives people more autonomy when it comes to their dietary needs and schedule. What else ...
The entire town of Dominical is walkable. People can walk to any restaurant, shop, or the beach in under 5 minutes. The local buses come through town multiple times per day for those who would like to adventure elsewhere. This area is particularly great for those who love to surf and hang out on the beach. The town is quite small, so it is easy to get to know everyone and to make friends. We have a great mix of Ticos and foreigners. In the surrounding areas, you can visit any number of waterfalls, go on a variety of different hikes, take a zipline tour or atv tour, as well as many other outdoor adventures. The hotel itself is small and all of us work together like family. We are really hoping to find someone who wants to bring their authentic self and be ready to learn about hospitality in Costa Rica, while participating in our family-style environment.
