    Description

We are a family of four who live in beautiful Central Victoria. We have a house on 3/4 acre with a self-contained bungalow for accomodation. It is a short walk from our house to the train station with regular trains heading back and forth to Melbourne. We have two children, 13 and 9, two dogs, two rabbits and chickens.

We are hoping to meet people from other parts of the world and get some help in our house and garden.

    Cultural exchange and learning opportunities

We love the idea of hosting people from different parts of the world at our place. We have both travelled widely pre-kids and the best experiences we had were always through meeting and getting to know the people who live in that place. We are happy to take our workawayers to different local spots, exploring the bush, bike riding, exploring the city. We think it would be great for our kids to meet travellers and learn more about the world through them too.

We love playing board games, gardening, bike riding, bushwalking, are involved in the local community and we are very happy to try to help Work Awayers plan day trips and adventures.

  • Help

    Help

We are hoping to have some help in our house and garden. I am a horticulturist with over 20 years experience and would love some help in our organic veggie garden, orchard, etc. I am happy to teach and share skills with our Work Awayers.

You would be working approximately 3 hours a day 5 days of the week with two full days off. Planting, weeding, harvesting, mulching and helping around the house.

Depending on your interests you could help with cooking and other projects.

  • Accommodation

    Accommodation

Accomodation at our place is a clean, self contained bungalow in our back garden. It has a bedroom with a double bed, bathroom with shower and toilet, and a living space with a small kitchenette. It is located at the back of our garden.

We will provide breakfast ingredients for them to have in the morning in their bungalow as well as tea and coffee. They can help themselves to lunch ingredients in our house or we can buy food for them to have in the bungalow if they prefer. We’ll all eat together in our house.

We eat mainly vegetarian food so meals will be vegetarian based.

    What else ...

From here you can catch public transport into and around Melbourne, to Bendigo and further north to Echuca. There are some beautiful areas nearby to camp or bushwalk, we have bicycles you could borrow to use.

We are vegetarian, so vegetarian food is what will be provided with occasional meat (our 13 year old eats meat sometimes) maybe once a week.

We have two big dogs who live inside as well as outside, so guests will have to be ok with animals and enjoy having them around.
