    Description

We're located close to the Qu’Appelle Valley in central Saskatchewan.

This is our little piece of heaven, the yard is nestled in beautiful shelter belt of scotch pines and bordered by native poplar bluffs where you can pick wild berries in the summer months, watch the birds & wildlife with a southern view towards the valley.

The farm consists of certified organic grain, livestock and a market garden.
    This years major projects are:
-to develop the organic market garden - planting, set up irrigation, some weeding but we will also use chickens in mobile coops to help with that, picking vegetables for market, etc
    - rotational grazing for sheep, building mobile coops for chickens
    - we are hosting a couple field days so we would like paint some buildings & do some general yard maintenance projects
    - clearing walking paths

My wife (Lisa) & I ( Rob) both have off farm jobs so there will be times when you will have to work independently from us.

We try to work with nature rather against her in all things we do!

There are an endless variety of things to do on a farm from fixing fence to working in the garden to picking eggs. Could be in tractor in the morning & driving truck in the afternoon,
We’ve got mix of livestock- sheep, pigs, laying hens, broiler chickens, a cow, a horse, 2 llama & a donkey! Oh & 5 dogs!

I’m always busy with one project or another anything from building a deck to figuring out how to pump water without power by using solar.
My vision for the farm is a place where people can come and learn about organic farming, visit animals, walk though the fields and see crops in different stages of life & the abundance of nature that surrounds us.
We enjoy sitting around a fire roasting sausages for supper, going for a walk on the trails around the farm, watching the animals or just relaxing when time allows
There are many events in the valley to take part in over the year, we can take in activities at the Motherwell National historic site is close by where you can learn about farming from the early 1900's, hiking trails in the Qu'Appelle Valley, fishing, boating or swimming on the 4 lakes that are within 6 miles of the farm, Mid Summer Arts Festival in Fort Qu'Appelle, Treaty Four Pow Wow in September, Agribition in Regina, July 1st celebrations in Fort Qu'Appelle, Winter Festival in Fort Qu' Appellle, Abernethy Fair is the oldest consecutive running fair in Saskatchewan, and we host and attend farm field days through out the summer where you can learn about regenerative organic farming practices

We plant a large garden & use regenerative principles in the design & growing season so some help with that would be great. This year we are starting a organic market garden and hope to have a farm store set up to sell our goods.
Yard work, mowing grass, feeding the pets, some general household chores, seeding & harvest of organic grain farm.
We clean our own grain & market things like spelt for people to grind their own flour.
Feed a bottle lamb or slop the hogs some kitchen scraps, picking eggs from our mobile coops..
Maybe some help with a carpentry project or something I’m building or repairing in the shop.
    Building & fixing fence
I can always use some advice with building templates or spreadsheets on the computer.
We are open to whatever way you feel you can help, with your stay here while we become friends!

A mother pig lies on straw next to her four newborn piglets. The piglets are spotted, small, and snuggled closely, while the environment looks rustic.
A lamb stands close to its mother sheep in a straw-filled barn. The mother is eating from a blue bucket. Cozy agricultural scene, soft lighting.
Inside a wire cage on dry grass, several chickens are pecking and foraging. Sunlight filters through, and a person stands in the background.
A man and woman smile for a selfie in a sunny field, with green crops behind them and a pickup truck parked in the background under a clear sky.
A cozy, lived-in kitchen and living room with wooden floors, dark cabinets, plants, and cluttered countertops. Dining table and TV area add to homely atmosphere.
This cozy bedroom features a single bed with a patchwork quilt, wooden floor, bookshelf full of books, bedside table with lamp, and a window.
A cozy house glows warmly under the night sky, surrounded by dark trees, while green northern lights dance above, illuminating the peaceful, starry scene.
