Description
Hello! I’m Steph, and I get to call a few peaceful acres in the Comox Valley home 🌿
I live here with my 18-year-old son, who spends his time working, boating, and riding dirt bikes. My 22-year-old is nearby too; he lives on a sailboat in Comox.
The property itself is located in a beautiful rural area just 5 minutes from downtown Courtenay—so you get the best of both worlds. Out the door, you’ve got hiking and biking trails and a river close enough for an easy wander. A quick drive gets you to the ocean or a big, refreshing lake.
Life here is laid-back and easygoing. No pets at the moment, but there’s no shortage of wildlife—deer, rabbits, and occasionally a curious black bear passing through to say hello.
Bonus: my parents live next door—they’re incredibly friendly, love hosting, and genuinely enjoy meeting travellers, so there’s always a warm, welcoming vibe around here

I was born and raised here, and I genuinely love calling this place home. I spend as much time as I can outdoors—hiking, mountain biking, and soaking up everything this area has to offer. If you’re keen to explore, I’m always happy to point you toward some incredible spots or even show you around. There’s no shortage of beautiful places to wander, plus some great local restaurants, breweries, and wineries to check out, too. Nearby is the village of Cumberland, which has a great music, arts, and mountain biking scene.
There are three generations living on my property -- myself, my son, and my parents (next door). We all love meeting new people and sharing our beautiful area with travellers. We have all lived in this area for generations and have a lot of knowledge to share. … and there’s a very good chance my mom will also keep you stocked with fresh baking.
Everyone in my family loves being on the ocean, and we have all spent a lot of time on the water. My older son lives on a sailboat nearby, and if the weather allows, he’d be happy to take you out for a little ocean adventure—a pretty special way to experience the coast. I also have a canoe, a stand-up paddleboard, and a bike that you’re welcome to use during your stay—perfect for getting out on the water or exploring the area at your own pace.
If you are interested in nature and getting to know the best spots on the beautiful west coast of Canada, my family is happy to help!
Help
If you enjoy getting your hands a little dirty and seeing the results of a good day’s work in the yard, you’ll fit right in here 🌱
Spring is a busy (and satisfying!) time on the property, and I’d love a hand with things like raking and composting leaves, spreading mulch, weeding, tidying up branches, prepping the veggie garden, clearing brush, filling the odd driveway pothole, and splitting/stacking firewood. It’s a bit of everything—great if you like variety and being outdoors.
If you’ve got some basic carpentry skills, there are also a few simple fence repairs and small projects to tackle. And for those who don’t mind a good “before and after,” there’s always some spring cleaning on the go—windows, siding, pressure washing, and even a bit of painting if that’s in your wheelhouse.
Love to cook? That’s definitely a bonus—meal prep help is always appreciated!
I work as a clinical counsellor and have my own private practice. I usually see clients at an office in town three days a week and work virtually from home one day. So even though I work, I'm often around the property too. You’ll have plenty of independence to move through tasks at your own pace—but you won’t be on your own, we can tackle a lot of it together. And if you prefer to be more independent in your day, between my parents (next door), my son, and me, there’s usually someone around to chat with, lend a hand, or point you in the right direction.
When I’m off, I’m happy to team up and knock out some of the bigger jobs together.
I’m also very open to hosting a couple who’d like to share the experience and tackle projects as a team.

Accommodation
You’ll be staying in your own cozy 32’ trailer that is separate from the mainhouse —your own little home base with plenty of space to relax and recharge. It’s fully set up with heat, A/C, a small kitchen, couch, table, queen bed, plus a bonus room with bunk beds, a bathroom, and WiFi. It’s a great fit for a solo traveller, couple, or even a small family.
When the workday winds down, you’re welcome to soak in the hot tub or kick back by the outdoor fire pit—both perfect for quiet, starry evenings and that peaceful country vibe 🔥✨
Food-wise, I’ve got you covered. I’ll provide all groceries and aim to have dinners made as often as I can. On evenings when I’m working, you can simply heat something up or, if you enjoy cooking, you’re welcome to jump in and prepare a meal (this can count toward your hours too). Breakfasts, lunches, and snacks are help-yourself, and I’m happy to shop with your preferences or dietary needs in mind.
Life on my property is a good mix of privacy and your own space to unwind, and interacting with the 3 generations that live here.
