Made up of colorful houses amid bohemian cafés and neighborhood cocktail dens - the Bywater area is the authentic New Orleans.
Live and experience the Jazz and culture which permeates here, with your private space, in a friendly, family atmosphere.
Hey I am Joe! I am a Scottish native with a masters degree in mechanical engineering. New Orleans is my much loved, adopted home, where I stay with my partner and young son. I have a wide range of interests, from climbing and soccer (football) to astronomy and eco-housing.
I am looking for some general help around the house which involves cleaning. Will involve approximately 3.5 hours a week during set hours in the afternoon, 7 days a week.
Help around the house
A chance to experience the real New Orleans and help outside, learning new skills. I love showing travelers our city. Just google New Orleans, there is a silly amount of great things to experience here.
I also have a range of skills from finance, carpentry and many sports that I am always enthusiastic to teach (and to learn from) others.
The help is light maintenance, cleaning and making beds in a larger house. It requires consistency. dependability and attention to detail - but the help is not difficult!
The help involves being available all days from 11am until 2.30pm. Not looking for someone who is already living in the city or has a job etc. I am very much in to the traveler exchange part of workaway, so this is only open to someone who is a.) a traveler and b.) able to commit to this project as a priority.
In exchange I offer a semi-private room (utilities included) with a shared bathroom in the Bywater, New Orleans - right off the St Claude arts corridor. A walkable area, Bywater is home to record and antiques shops, storied music venues, laid-back gin joints, and a growing gallery scene.
This host offers a language exchange
Would love to learn any language a guest knows, and happy to teach the only one I know well (English)
Your own room in our family home, with all utilities and wifi.
If the helper wanted to take a few days off occasionally (say to go to the beach), I would be open to that, provided it was communicated ahead of time.
Limited internet access
We have pets
We are smokers
Can host families
I have wifi at the house.
There is on street parking which is free, and New Orleans has many people who stay in campers - just wouldn't be possible outside the house because of parking limitations.
Maximum 3.5 hours a day, max 25 hours/week
