Description
Hi!
We are a Dutch/Swedish couple in our 30s and have moved recently to the Netherlands after years of working abroad ourselves in West Africa and Sweden. We have bought a house with 1,5 hectares of land in the east of the Netherlands on the countryside, where we now live with our daughter (5 years old) 2 dogs, horses and chicken.. We are have done the renovating the house and barn ourselves with the help of many workawayers. Next to this we are running a small scale Agro Ecological hobby farm and occasionally embark on fun sustainability projects.
We are an English speaking household and lived as expats for many years during which we made many friends across the globe. We really enjoy to meet other people from around the world and sharing our live with workawayers like you will be a great way of continuing that.
You will live with us, eat and drink with us and will have your own bedroom and bathroom. Sometimes we also host an au pair and usually have other workawayers. Our location is surrounded by countryside and nature but very well connected to Arnhem and the rest of the country by public transport. The Netherlands is rather small so you will never be more than 1 or 2 hours away from anywhere else. You'll find rivers, cycling/walking routes and nature reserves, as well as being close to the German border, and not more than 2 hours away from Belgium or the North Sea.
We are looking for someone that can help us out with:
- The renovation works and maintenance indoors and outdoors
- Help setting up and maintaining the farm
- Take care of the dogs, horses and chickens (and any other animals that might show up)
- Take care of the property
If you enjoy horse riding it would be great if you would ride our horses as they need the exercise! And our dogs are always up for (and in need of) a walk through the forest!
If you are keen to stay with us for a while or would like to know more about what we offer and what we expect from you, or any other question of course, then give us a shout! We like getting to
know our workawayers so we prefer them to stay for at least a month or more:)
Looking forward to hearing from you!

The Netherlands is small and well connected so the whole of the country lies at your feet, ideal for day or weekend trips. We brew our own beer, sometimes bake our own bread and generally like to learn to do as many things ourselves as possible, so you can learn this with us if you like. Also the sampling of the brew is very important! We will be setting up an organic vegetable garden including hops and fruit trees and work with horses, sheep and chickens. We will also be renovating our house, isolating it, build new rooms and bathrooms etc etc, so a very varied range of activities.

This project could involve children. For more information see our guidelines and tips here.
Help
next to taking care of our animals, we need help with indoor and outdoor renovation, carpeting, painting etc. No great skills needed, as long as you know your way with tools a bit (the rest we look up on YouTube!)
It would be a plus if you know horses a bit and want to regularly ride them. They would love (and need) the exercise and the surroundings here are great for rides..Languages

Our farm has a lot of space but due to ongoing renovations, it might vary which room is available. But for sure you will have a bedroom to yourself. Bathroom is shared (although we have 2 bathrooms in the house). You will eat and drink with us (hope you like home-brew) as we like you to be as much part of the family as you'd like to be.
