Description
In the south of the Netherlands, in the province of Limburg, close to Maastricht, you will find an old estate, overlooking the river Maas.
It is my goal to beautify the buildings and gardens. I would like to welcome people from all over the world to help turn the place into a small paradise. Therefor the right skills are very much appreciated. I also need help with general maintenance of the gardens and the buildings.
I am a retired agricultural engineer who has travelled to many places on this globe. I speak fluent English, German, Dutch and our local dialect. As a big nature lover, I love flowers and animals. I am a sociable guy, who is looking to get in touch with hardworking people who have a hands-on-attitude and who possess skills needed in maintaining my estate.
Within one hour you can reach the cities of Brussels, Düsseldorf and Eindhoven. I live close to both the Belgian and the German borders, and by train you can visit most of the Netherlands easily.
A minimal stay of 3 weeks is requested. After 3 days we will have an evaluation to see if all is good.

Cultural exchange and learning opportunities
I lived a long and adventurous life, so I am happy to share about my experiences.
The estate is situated in a nice countryside, where you can make long walks and bicycle tours. In the weekends you can easily reach the cities nearby with lots of museums, pubs and festivals. For everyone there is something to experience in this area.
Help
The help mainly consists of gardening: weeding, pruning, composting, and wood chopping. In winter I require someone to attend to the woodstove.
I strive to find tasks that fit you best. I prefer things to be done properly and with love and tender care, more than done in a hurry.
I would like to instruct you when necessary about gardening and other tasks. I enjoy working with nature lovers, but I myself have other duties to attend to. So it would be great if you can work on your own.

Accommodation
A private room in a separate building with all facilities at your disposal, like a bath, a shower, toilet, kitchen, and living room . There is a good WIFI connection as well, just no television.

What else ...
You can enjoy the peace, the quiet and the beautiful starry sky at night. Take a stroll through the valley, visit different villages and towns in the area, where you can have delicious ice cream and our famous pastries.
Public transport is great in the Netherlands. There is a bus stop nearby that connects the village with the train station in Sittard, from where you can see the rest of the Netherlands in the weekend.
