It was my first exchange with workaway and I couldn't find a better place and host. Anna and her family are super nice, helpful, generous and let you feel like a part of the family. They invited me for all the Christmas dinners and took me to a horse competition on the weekend or on amazing hacks with the horses in the nature. My apartment was

Because the apartment is attached to the stables it is the perfect place for horselovers. You are the first who says good morning and the last who wishes a good night to them and you can watch them in the paddocks from your window. The task(mucking out and feeding) was not to hard when you have a general fitness and with lovely Joana, the stable manager, makes the hard work even more fun. She even taught me a bit dressage and jumping on her horse and I loved going out for sushi-lunch with her. Unfortunately I could only spend 6 weeks there and I already miss the place and hope to visit them in April! You can only contact Workawayers who have an active membership.

What can I say, this was a top experience in my life helping Anna and her family on their horse stables and with their villa vacation rentals management business and odds and ends help in the beautiful Algarve. I fell in love with ALL the animals (10 horses, 6 dogs) and the family is so friendly and down to earth. Joana the stable manager taught
… read more me a lot, as I have very little dressage background, rather I am an endurance horse rider from Seattle, WA, and she is great to work with, very matter of fact and helpful and freindly. I HIGHLY recommend this place for anyone who loves being around horses and friendl dogs, who doesn't mind doing physical work mucking stalls/paddocks, feeding (you get strong!), and even earning the chance to ride if you are a reliable kind rider. I enjoyed working in their on-site office interacting with villa rental tasks too as it's a fun family atmosphere. I fell in love with Portugal because of this wonderful experience, have remained friends with them all, and am back for a 3rd time. I learned the area from a local's perspective--culture, good restaurants, beaches. I LOVED the zoo being next door, to hear all the amazing animals and see them in the trees even! The beautiful hills, natural parks, and small village of Barao sao Jao are very close for walking, riding, hiking, mt biking. Inexpensive snack bars, restaurants, fresh food. The apt is VERY clean and tidy, cozy, newly built but also private and I LOVED living near the horses. The back window views out on the horses and the landscape. Olives, almond trees, orange trees growing nearby. Super super!!!You can only contact Workawayers who have an active membership.

I absolutely LOVED my time here! The apartment is super nice and cosy, and Anna made me feel at home immediately. I fell in love with all the animals, especially Baloo! Working with Joana was so much fun and very meaningful. They accommodated my surfing needs whenever possible, and I honestly loved the work. Learned a lot about horse care and was

Though staying only one week, i have the feeling i had stayed much much longer. The family Anna, Jose and Tomas are outstanding. Their friendliness and coolness touched me a great deal. The ones of you who love horses and dogs find a paradise surrounding with normal farmwork which is required to work and feed 10 horses and 6-8 dogs. They not only
