    Description

We are currently looking for volunteers for the summer season.
Couples or friends are very welcome, and longer-term stays of several months are highly appreciated.

    We are looking for:

2 volunteers for a long term stay (minimum 1 month, preferably for some months)
🧹🛏️ -> One person is usually responsible for cleaning the house on a daily base and keeping it tidy .
-> So you should be a tidy person and lie to clean.
-> needed from approx. 23rd or 25th of May
🌿🛠️ -> And the second person for gardening, maintenance, sometimes painting and small handyman tasks
-> Some gardening or handyman experiences would be good
-> needed from approx. 23rd or 25th of May

    __________________________________________

    Hello everyone...

we are Désirée & Markus and we are hosting volunteers through Workaway for our projects since around twelve years.
For our conscious, mindful and vegetarian place we are hosting regularly long-term volunteers or volunteer couples to support us with the household, cleaning the house, gardening, maintenance of our place and for smaller handyman and DIY projects.

We are currently looking for two lastbminute volunteers for a long term stay starting from
    🕒 Work and exchange:
❄️ In the fall, winter and spring season (from approx. October till May, we offer accommodation only (without food) in exchange for 3 hours of work per day, 5 days a week (usually Monday to Friday but might change sometimes depending the needs).
☀️ In the summer season (from approx. June till September), we offer an exchange of accommodation and food in return for 5 hours of work per day, 5 days a week (usually Monday to Friday but might change sometimes depending the needs).

    🛌 Accommodation:
    – we have one private volunteer room available in the house, for one individual volunteer or a couple or friends
    - the second volunteer accommodation is a caravan on the property
    - if you are coming as a couple or friends you can share the volunteer room inside the house

    🧘🏼‍♀️Philosophy:
Our project is a conscious and mindful space with the intention of living sustainably, in harmony with nature, and offering a place where people can find inner balance and healing. We are a vegetarian, alcohol-free, and smoke-free environment, and we ask everyone who comes here to respect and align with these principles.
As a mindful space, we are looking for volunteers who are reflective, conscious, and familiar with their own inner work, and who are able to navigate and reflect on personal processes. We value a respectful, responsible, and considerate way of living together.
If you are seeking a peaceful setting, enjoy contributing to a meaningful place, and feel aligned with this way of living, we would be happy to hear from you. If you create artwork, or if you are a yoga teacher, massage therapist, or cook, there may also be opportunities from time to time to share your skills here.

🏡 Living and Volunteering With Us:
We are a small and intimate place rather than a large community. The core here is Markus, who lives on-site, and Désirée, who lives nearby and comes by from time to time. In addition, there are usually two volunteers, sometimes up to three, staying and supporting the place.
In winter, life here is naturally quieter and more solitary. We usually host just one volunteer during this season, so it’s important that volunteers who would like to come in winter feel also comfortable spending time on their own, as we’re not a big community.
In summer, the energy shifts a bit — the place is busier, and we usually have at least two volunteers, sometimes three, which makes the atmosphere more social and lively.
The ideal situation would be a couple or two friends, as they often enjoy the experience even more when they can share it with someone close.
Our place is located in a more off-grid, rural setting surrounded by nature, a little outside of town life. It’s important that volunteers feel comfortable in a quiet environment, enjoy simplicity, and are happy spending time in nature rather than being close to urban facilities or a city atmosphere. At the same time, depending on the season, the place can also become more lively and dynamic.

    📅 Minimum stay & duration:
We welcome Workawayers for a minimum stay of four weeks (unless there are last-minute requests), with a strong preference for longer-term stays of two to three months or even longer. We especially value people who feel called to integrate into the rhythm of the place and contribute over a meaningful period of time rather than just a short stay.

    🏞️About our place:
Our place is a magical, hidden oasis with a charming, playful Andalusian country house and a lush green garden amidst the Andalusian dry vegetation, situated on a fresh river and surrounded by babbling water canals.
We are located near the village of Zahara de la Sierra in the province of Cádiz in the Sierra de Grazalema Natural Park, which offers great mountain and hiking areas. It's a great place to reconnect with nature.

We are looking forward to hearing from you!

    Désirée & Markus

  • Help

    Help

We are looking for someone to join and support our project — couples or friends are especially welcome — who enjoys helping with tasks such as gardening, watering, weeding, sweeping, cleaning, household chores, general maintenance, and small repairs. From time to time, there are also larger projects such as digging, land clearing, collecting stones, working with wood, planting, pruning, and maintaining olive and fruit trees. For these tasks, we usually have two volunteers, in some seasons three, so work can be shared according to individual skills and interests.

We are looking for volunteers who are tidy, detail-oriented, and work in a clean and conscientious way. Reliability and commitment are essential, as well as the ability to take responsibility and work independently, naturally seeing what needs to be done without constant guidance. We appreciate people who are self-sufficient and comfortable spending time on their own in a quieter environment.

Depending on the season and workload, the requested help is 5 hours per day, 5 days a week (in exchange for accommodation and food), and during the fall and winter season 3 hours per day, 5 days a week (in exchange for accommodation only).

This is a place to contribute, learn, and connect with nature, while also enjoying moments of calm, reflection, and a small, intimate community.

    Accommodation:
Volunteers can stay in a volunteer room, a caravan, or a glamping bell tent, depending on current availability. If you stay in the bell tent and there are free rooms on hot summer days when we have no guests, you may move into one of our guest rooms during that time.
The house has a shared living room, kitchen, and bathroom, as well as a compost toilet and an outdoor shower.

In your free time, you can enjoy the garden, the river, and the small pool (in summer), or go hiking in the surrounding area.

  • What else ...

    What else ...

We offer you a stay in beautiful natural surroundings and a warm, welcoming atmosphere.

We usually do the grocery shopping once a week and either you will buy your food (usually in fall and winter season) or we will provide all the food you need (in spring and summer season). And you would prepare your own meals.

Please note that our place is located 3 km (about a 45-minute walk) from the nearest village, Zahara de la Sierra. We cannot provide a car, but you’re welcome to join one of our crew members on the weekly shopping trip, or we’ll try to organize a lift for you when needed.

    Profile photo of Kayu

    Kayu

Our pitch-black panther Kayu was found by us on the street.
After what appeared to be a car accident, we discovered him lying in a pool of blood, assuming he was dead.
But when we tried to move him off the road, to our surprise and joy, he began to move — and he miraculously survived.
He only lost one ear and was lovingly adopted by our mama cat Mala.

    Trato

The white and grey patterned house cat of Cinco Lunas, Trato, has been living here for about 3 years.
He doesn’t like dogs. They should watch out for him.

    Mala

The black-golden brindle mother cat Mala is a rescue cat from a dog sehlter. She was taken in by us along with her five kittens.
Her kittens have since been adopted, but the super cuddly Mala is staying with us.
