    Description

    Hello everyone...

we are Désirée & Markus and we are hosting volunteers through Workaway for our projects since around ten years.
For our conscious, mindful and vegetarian community place we are hosting regularly long-term volunteers or volunteer couples to support us with the household, cleaning the house, gardening, maintenance of our place and for smaller handyman and DIY projects.

    We’re currently looking for:

🌿🛠️ 1 volunteer for a long term stay (minimum one month, preferably longer) starting from beginning of October. For gardening, maintenance and small handyman help.

    🕒 Work and exchange:
Currently during the fall and winter season, we offer an exchange of accommodation only (without food) in return for 3 hours of work per day, 5 days a week (usually Monday to Friday but might change depending sometimes if needed).
Or: 3 hours per day, 5 days a week in exchange for accommodation only

    🏡 Accommodation:
    – for the period in October we can offer a caravan as accommodation.

As we are a mindful place you should be a reflective and conscious person and you should be ok with our vegetarian and alcohol-free and smoke-free philosophy.
If you’re looking for a peaceful setting and enjoy contributing to a beautiful space, we’d love to hear from you!

    ==============

Our farmhouse has been hosting workawayers for more than ten years by the owner Gonzalo.
We, Désirée & Markus, are continuing Gonzalo's work and look forward to continuing the work with Workaway while Gonzalo retires to write a book and play chess.

Our place is a magical, hidden oasis with a charming, playful Andalusian country house and a lush green garden amidst the Andalusian dry vegetation, situated on a fresh river and surrounded by babbling water canals.
We are located near the village of Zahara de la Sierra in the province of Cádiz in the Sierra de Grazalema Natural Park, which offers great mountain and hiking areas. It's a great place to reconnect with nature.

Our project is a conscious and mindful place with the intention of living in a sustainable way in harmony with nature and to open a space for people to find inner balance and healing.
We are a vegan/vegetarian, alcohol-free and smoke-free place and ask people who come to our place to respect those principles.

We normally need help to keep the house and the surroundings of the house nice and clean and to do cleaning tasks, gardening tasks, construction, maintenance.
We usually have two workawayers at our place.

We are looking forward t hear from you!

    Désirée & Markus

  • Help

    Help

We are looking for somebody, couples are more then welcome, who would like to support our project and who can help with tasks like gardening. watering, weeding, sweeping, cleaning, household tasks, general maintenance and repair help. Sometimes we also have additional projects like digging, land clearing, collecting stones, helping with wood, planting, pruning and maintenance of olive and fruits trees, etc. For those tasks we usually have two volunteers at our place so that tasks can be divided according to individual skills.

As we are a mindful place for inner transformational work and we are looking for a a conscious and reflective person who is also familiar with own inner work and is able to reflect and to maneuver themselves through own processes. You should be willing to eat vegetarian during the time of your stay (at least at our place) and we are a alcohol-free and smoking-free place.
We accept only workawayers for a minimum of 4 weeks (unless we have last minute requests) who are willing to help 5 hours per day, and 5 days per week (only during summer season) or 3 hours per day, and 5 days per week (usually during fall & winter season).

  • Accommodation

    Accommodation

Accommodation would be in a room for volunteers, in a caravan or in a glamping bell tent, depending the current availability. If you stay in the bell tent and we have free rooms on hot summer days while we have no guests, you can stay in one of our guest rooms in that time. We have a shared living room, a shared kitchen and shared bathroom in the house, as well as a compost toilet and outdoor shower outside.
In your free time you can enjoy the garden, the river and the little pool (in summer time) or you can make hikes in the area.
Food is currently provided but is prepared by the workawayers themselves. As said we are a vegetarian place so only vegetarian food can be consumed at our place.
If you want to eat out, the bars, cafés and restaurants in the area are very reasonable priced.
Depending the season and the amount of work we can either offer 3 hours of work per day in exchange for accommodation only or 5 hours of work per day in exchange for accommodation and food.

  • What else ...

    What else ...

We currently ask for 3 hours of help per day, 5 days a week.
In exchange, we offer you a stay in beautiful natural surroundings and a warm, welcoming atmosphere.

We usually do the grocery shopping once a week and will provide all the food you need. You would simply prepare your own meals.

Please note that our place is located 2 km (about a 40-minute walk) from the nearest village, Zahara de la Sierra. We cannot provide a car, but you’re welcome to join one of our crew members on the weekly shopping trip, or we’ll try to organize a lift for you when needed.

    Profile photo of Kayu

    Kayu

Our pitch-black panther Kayu was found by us on the street.
After what appeared to be a car accident, we discovered him lying in a pool of blood, assuming he was dead.
But when we tried to move him off the road, to our surprise and joy, he began to move — and he miraculously survived.
He only lost one ear and was lovingly adopted by our mama cat Mala.

    Trato

The white and grey patterned house cat of Cinco Lunas, Trato, has been living here for about 3 years.
He doesn’t like dogs. They should watch out for him.

    Mala

The black-golden brindle mother cat Mala is a rescue cat from a dog sehlter. She was taken in by us along with her five kittens.
Her kittens have since been adopted, but the super cuddly Mala is staying with us.
