UPDATE: LOOKING FOR A VOLLY JULY - NOVEMBER!!
    ***
We are now accepting applications for our 2016 volunteer position. I am looking for long term volunteers who can commit to staying for 2 - 6 months. I do not accept volunteers over the Winter months, only between May - Oct.
You don't need any experience and I will teach you all you need to know and how to do all the cleaning tasks. For volunteers who are responsible, independent, have great time management skills and organization this opportunity would be like a holiday and a cheap way to spend time in Whistler.
*** Preference is given to those with Social Media, Marketing and Online & Web skills

I own a lodge and it's opened year round. I live next door and self manage the property. The lodge has 8 rooms, a sauna, spa, 2 kitchens, large living room with TV, an air stream van, and backyard.

Whistler is a MUST DO for anyone traveling Canada. I have kayaks and bikes for you to use, a park and lake near-by. Whistler is a laid back town with many biking and walking trails. As a adventurous town there are many festivals and sporting events for you to enjoy and have your true Canadian Experience.

All nationalities are welcome in Whistler and we have many International guests stay at the lodge. My family speaks Canadian English and Japanese.

My name is Geoff. I have a wife and 3 children, whom both live in our Whistler and Vancouver property, at different times of the year.

I have lots of house pets, if you love dogs your welcome to walk two of mine.

*** Not everyone will suit this opportunity so please consider the job role more than the location offered.

During Summer and Fall 2016; Ideally I would like volunteers who can stay a minimum of 3 months during Summer and Fall (between May - November). This gives me enough time to train you and for you to be comfortable with all duties and plenty of time to enjoy Whistler. During the summer the sun is up until about 2100, so there is plenty of time after work to enjoy it!

Hours worked average out to be 4 hours per day, 6 days per week. Though it all depends on the number of guests in house and checkouts for that day. Weekdays you could have everything done in 1-2 hours. Weekends are generally are busiest times with a fully booked out hostel.

Days off are very flexible as I live next door. Generally I let you know the night before what the following day looks like and what needs to be done giving you time to book activities and plan you day.

Our Volunteers main work is Cleaning: cleaning guest rooms, the lodge, household chores, tidying and organizing spaces, and providing Customer Service to our guests.

There are also maintenance jobs, yard work, gardening, cooking, front desk tasks, social media activities and house-sitting that could be undertaken by the right person, if they so wish. There are also 2 puppies that you can walk.

    Accommodation

You will live in my basement apartment. There is a washroom, fully equipped kitchen, lounge and Laundry room. Your room is a Private twin size room with with a window, heater, lots of chest drawers to use and a closet. I have a bunk bed in there - there is enough space and comfort for 2 volunteers.

A daily breakfast is included with all the coffee, tea and orange juice you want. You will be provided Lunch and Dinner on days that you work. Alpine Cafe and Supermarket is located at the end of the street and cater delicious food for locals and travelers. Plus Whistler is known for its amazing international cuisine options.

Sometimes we have groups check in who ask for help with the makings of their dinner, usually a large BBQ night on the deck. When this happens all volunteers are asked and welcome to join in, eat and enjoy the food together with our guests.

  • What else ...

    What else ...

Whistler is a beautiful and adventurous town year round. During the Summer locals and tourists enjoy downhill mountain biking, whitewater rafting, ATV'ing, bunjy jumping, ziptreking and hiking. Whilst during the Winter, whistler is famous for it's ski hills and all snow activities.

The bus ride is outside my doorstep and for $2.50 will take you to the village, alternatively it is a 45 minute walk along the 'Valley Trail'. When I'm driving into town or to Function Junction your welcome to a lift. I also have a cruiser bike for you to use. I also many kayaks your welcome to use and can drop you off and pick you up after your adventure. I take Berkley to Rainbow dog park and your welcome to join.

Cafe and Supermarket is on the corner, and a fitness center/ skating rink is a 5 minute walk away.

***I don't mind if you are a smoker, as long as you only smoke outside and clean up after yourself.
*** As Whistler is known for a party town I prefer volunteers who are very mature, responsible and over 25 years old. My lodge is NOT a party Hostel.
*** Please be patience with responses as it is a very busy time of year. I'm a very busy man with a family, business and many responsibilities.
*** For a quicker response and a better chance of volunteering here, please write the dates you are available in the subject line of your application letter.
