    Description

    Hi,

we are Sarah & Rolf, a dad with two boys, 13 / 14 (my older guy has Down Syndrome), who are usually here only on weekends. I run a small, private and personal B&B with only 1 room rented and offer photo tours (max. 4 guests) to watch bears, whales, sea otters and other wildlife besides a small farm (growing veggies for our guests and ourselves) as well as a small worm farm (vermiculture).

Everything here is done small, individually and privately. We are motivated by our lifestyle, not money (which we still need to pay our bills).

We are looking for somebody who is flexible, enjoys tranquillity and can do whatever needs to be done.
The expected work is to greet the guests at arrival, prepare the suite (usually only every 3 days), prepare cold breakfast (if guests are not on tour with me) and some easy food (mostly cutting vegetables, no cooking) for the tours. If you could help with gardening, that would be awesome, too.

If you want to help me with photography and video-related "stuff" as well as with my FB and Instagram, that's much appreciated too.

Whenever I have space on tours you are welcome to come with me.

You will enjoy a lot of freedom and time for yourself as I'm generally out in the primary season every day.

The property is 2.2 acres. I sometimes have two horses here from my neighbour. You stay either in the house in your own room or if you prefer, you could also stay in a beautiful large yurt in the garden. We would need to share the shower/bathroom in the house, there is also a compostable toilet in the yurt.

I'm a full-time pro photographer for 35+ years. I'm originally from Germany and immigrated about 20 years ago to Canada. I fell in love with this place 30 years ago and have lived here now permanently for about 16 years. Sarah is from Ireland, came here and never left.

The boys are normally here on weekends, less in the summer when it gets too busy. My older son has down syndrome, which adds something special to the mix.

I'm also fairly active on Instagram to show my images about this beautiful region and the wildlife.

My workaways live here with us, they become part of the family and I don't see them as "workers". For me, it is essential that we are a good team and that you are happy here as well. You won't have a "boss" looking over you, giving you much freedom.

I usually have an excellent relationship with the people helping me and we became close friends.

We are only looking for one person or a couple for our FULL SEASON from May till the start of October. We are NOT offering our place for short stays!

This is a beautiful area to be, rich in First Nations culture, lots of wildlife and nature. it is a quiet place and it is NOT a place for party and social "animals". If you're ok with staying busy by yourself but also ok with having great guests around you then I think you would fit here very much.

We can teach you what we have learned about creating a food garden from scratch, growing our own food, composting, vermiculture, homesteading and all things sustainable living. We are very active and rarely take a day off, we are looking for like-minded people who want to learn and like to get stuff done.

All the guest tips are yours to keep.

For me it is important that everybody is happy being here. That everybody has a good time while everything gets done that needs to get done at the same time.

My main season starts in May and it is getting very busy from June till the beginning of October.

I only have space for 1-2 workaways during the main season.

I'm a lot out on tours. I'm looking for someone to greet the guests, clean the two rooms I offer (about every 3-5 days) and prepare picnic style food for the tours. While it gets busy over the summer month, it is not really that much work.

I'm also actively working on my food garden and hope to be able to extend it this summer. If you like gardening you also will be very happy here.

If you want to help me with working on photos/videos and posting them online with Instagram and Facebook that is also appreciated but not requested.

I would take you with me on tours as often as I can, whenever there is an opportunity. Last season my workaway was out on the water over 30 times.

I need somebody reliable who doesn't mind to talk to international guests. Somebody who sees something needs to be done, takes on the project and is happy to work alone.

This is a workaway op for somebody who enjoys working by themself, does what needs to be done and who enjoys peace and silence over partying. The reward is a free stay, food, fun, lots of freedom and getting on very exclusive fun wildlife tours.

I also have a large yurt in the garden which is also an option. Your choice.

If you like it quiet but still with stuff to do you will love it here. If you are a social party animal you won't like it here.
This here is a beautiful place overlooking the ocean. There is not much social life around Port McNeill but if you like to read and entertain yourself you will love it here.

I only have one suite this year, which means not more than 1 family or group staying at a time. While I can't take you on every photo tour, there will be opportunities for you to join me here and there.

There is lots of First Nations history around us too.

I'm looking for someone reliable and when my kids home (only on weekends) it would be great if you can help me a bit with them too.

While we normally have a busy summer, it is always lots of fun hanging out with international guests. If you like gardening you will be in heaven here.

I'm a pro photographer, you can search me easily for photo tours on Northern Vancouver Island to get a better idea.
