    Description

Welcome to Atherton! I live in a cosy home on the beautiful Atherton Tablelands, an area known for its lush greenery, waterfalls, friendly locals, and the kind of peace and quiet you can really sink into. If you love nature, fresh air, and exploring somewhere a little bit magical, you’ll feel right at home here.

I have been renovating the inside of the house, and now the outside needs a lot of love! And I'm hoping - in time for Christmas (I'm hosting he he). My property has a mix of needing to be established gardens, flowers and citrus fruit trees. I’d love some help with gardening (planting, weeding, mulching, veggie beds) and a few outdoor projects like painting the exterior of the house (and rendering if you are feeling confident!. Nothing too complicated - just someone who enjoys being outdoors, getting their hands dirty, and seeing things grow.

It’s just me living here (and my dog Winston!), but friends and family visit often and everyone around here is super welcoming. You’ll have plenty of independence, but you’ll also feel part of the home.

In your free time you can explore crater lakes, waterfalls, markets, coffee plantations, hiking tracks, and cute little towns. Cairns is about 1–1.5 hours away if you want a day trip to the coast. The Tablelands has such a relaxed lifestyle and so many hidden gems - most people end up staying longer than they planned!

If you’re someone who loves nature, enjoys simple living, and wants to help create a beautiful garden space, I’d love to host you.

    Cultural exchange and learning opportunities

There are plenty of opportunities to meet locals and feel part of the community here. You’re welcome to join for weekend markets, walks around the lakes, or visits to nearby towns like Yungaburra or Malanda. My friends and family often drop by, and everyone is easy-going and happy to chat, share a meal, or offer tips on places to explore. If you enjoy nature, we can go for sunset drives, check out waterfalls, or visit farm stalls and cafés around the Tablelands. You’ll quickly feel included in the relaxed FNQ lifestyle.

I'm happy to teach anything related to home renovation. If you’re curious about Australian rural living, small-business life, or general home and garden projects, I’m always open to sharing what I know.

Hosting Workawayers is a way for me to connect with people from around the world and learn from their experiences, stories, and ways of living. I love hearing about different cultures, food, traditions, and perspectives. I travelled myself for over 1 year and miss the experience of meeting new faces. My partner also just left so the company will be well welcomed.

I’m looking for someone who enjoys hands-on outdoor work and is happy to help with a mix of gardening and general property projects. The tasks are flexible depending on your skills and what needs doing at the time, but may include:

Gardening & Outdoor Work: Planting new vegetable beds and seasonal veggies, weeding, pruning, mulching and general garden care, preparing soil and refreshing existing garden areas, helping establish flower beds and tidy outdoor spaces

Painting & Property Maintenance: Painting the exterior of the house (prep, top coat - straightforward work, no high ladders unless comfortable)

If you know how to use a dropsaw, then I still need to complete the skirting boards and a few other od jobs around inside.

No special experience is required - just a willingness to learn, a positive attitude, and an enjoyment of working outside in a beautiful part of the Tablelands. I’m flexible with tasks and can tailor the work to your strengths.
