Our school is a trilingual kindergarten and primary school with over 370 kids. It has been recognized as the first school in the whole district. We follow the active learning philosophy where children are placed at the center of their education. The school's mission is to form capable and motivated students. It is a non-confessional school and 25% of the kids come from low-income families and receive scholarships in order to promote social mobility.
We are looking for volunteers who are familiar with Montessori philosophy or/and interactive learning and have experience working with children to bring them to the maximum of their capacity.
The school also houses a multi-purpose hall where volunteers are welcome to organize cultural events, music and dance classes.
We also run an eight acres farm where volunteers will be able to help harvesting. We are also opened to any projects which could help our organic farm growing; such as solar energy, water filtering and new ways of farming.
Overall, we are really open to any types of projects or ideas that you think will add value to our school and farm.

Volunteers will be living at the farm together with the school teachers and other volunteers. The farm is located 20 minutes on foot away from the school and is guarded 24/7. It is located in the city centre close to the market, restaurants, shops and bus stations. Lunch will be provided at school. In the evening, volunteers are welcome to enjoy chapatis, sambusas, skewers and the famous Rwandan buffets at the restaurants in town.
They can have lunch at school. Breakfast and dinner could eventually be provided on request.
Rwanda is a rather safe country with very welcoming inhabitants. It is very easy and convenient to travel around by bus.
The school is located close to major tourist attractions, such as:
- Kigali, the thriving and fast developing capital city
- Virunga national park (perfect for gorilla and golden monkey tracking)
- Lake Kivu
-Akagera national park with the famous Big 5
-Nyungwe forest, home to chimpanzees and the colombus monkeys
We have enjoyed welcoming volunteers from different parts of the world, with new ideas and different perspectives.
