    Description

Hello and thank you for taking the time to read our profile — I know it’s long, but that’s because our home is warm, busy, full of life, and I want you to really feel what it’s like here.
My name is Summer, I’m English, 29, and I’ve lived in France for many years.
I’m a single mum with three wonderful children:
    • Rosabella, 14 — creative, chatty, thoughtful, and incredible with languages
    • Lilia, 8— energetic, imaginative, funny, loves cuddles and games
    • Raphaël, 4 — sweet, affectionate, loves being held and included
We live in Pau, in the south of France — a beautiful city with mountains on the horizon, rich culture, and everything within walking distance. Our home is a lively, warm, loving place where there’s always drawing happening, music playing, kids laughing, and something going on in the kitchen. We also have two friendly cats who love company.
Because the children are young, our home is joyful but busy, and this is why I’m looking for someone kind, patient, playful, and open-hearted to join us for a while.

🌿 What Life Looks Like With Us
We spend a lot of time:
    • playing at the park
    • exploring Pau
    • drawing, painting, doing crafts
    • cooking home-made meals
    • reading stories
    • going for walks
    • having cosy evenings with tea and conversation
Weekends are often spent discovering new places, going to markets, visiting the mountains or nearby villages, exploring nature, or enjoying local events.
If you enjoy being around children — really being present with them — you will fit perfectly here. My kids absolutely adore volunteers, and previous WorkAway helpers have become long-term friends.

🌿 What I Need Help With
I’m looking for someone who genuinely enjoys:
    • playing with children and helping them feel seen and valued
    • helping around the house — simple everyday things like tidying, keeping the kitchen organised, sweeping, folding laundry, and basic cleaning
    • helping prepare meals, or sometimes cooking something simple
    • accompanying me to take Lilia to school (the school is right down the road)
    • being an extra pair of hands during busy hours
Nothing here is difficult — it’s just much easier with two adults instead of one.
You won’t be doing this alone — think of it as teamwork, not “work.”
You are joining a family, not a job.

🌿 What You Get In Return
You will be part of a warm, affectionate, playful household.
You’ll be treated with kindness, patience, and respect.
You will learn a lot about:
    • English culture
    • French culture
    • cooking
    • childcare
    • local life in Pau
    • French language (if you want to practice)
I love showing volunteers around — the city, the mountains, the historical places, the local cafés and markets. There is so much to see here and it’s all very close.

🌿 The kind of person who thrives here
    Someone who:
    • is friendly, gentle, open-minded
    • likes being around kids
    • enjoys simple home life
    • respects a family atmosphere
    • wants to be helpful, not bossy
    • is happy to join in with cooking, cleaning, and daily routines
    • wants to connect, talk, laugh, and share
This home works best for people who come with a warm heart, not a strict schedule. If you like to be part of a family and you enjoy making children happy, you will absolutely love it here.

Thank you for reading this far.
If you’ve reached the bottom of this description, it already means you’re someone who takes the time to understand what you’re signing up for — and that’s exactly the kind of person who fits beautifully with us.
I look forward to hearing from you, getting to know you, and hopefully welcoming you into our family for a while.

I live in the very centre of Pau — you can walk everywhere. The city is full of museums, cafés, markets, festivals, and beautiful architecture, and you’ll also have the famous mountain view from the Boulevard des Pyrénées just 5 minutes away. From here it’s easy to visit the Pyrenees, the seaside, or nearby towns on your days off.

At home we speak English and French, so you can practise whichever language you prefer. You’ll also have the chance to learn about everyday French life, explore the region, and share your own culture with us. You’ll have good internet and plenty of freedom to enjoy the city and the surroundings in your free time.

I prefer a woman. I’m mainly looking for someone who enjoys spending time with children and can help with the daily family routine. This includes playing with the kids, helping them get to school or appointments, and doing simple activities or outings with them.

I also need support with light household chores such as tidying, folding laundry, and helping with easy family meals. Planning small outings or creative activities with the children is a big help too. We’re a busy home, and having someone organised and kind makes everything run more smoothly.💛

    Accommodation

I live in a three-bedroom apartment right in the centre of the city — you can walk everywhere. The flat has a large kitchen/living area, a normal-sized bathroom, and a big balcony that catches the light.

You will have your own private bedroom in the apartment. I will move into my daughter’s room during your stay so that you can have a quiet, comfortable private space of your own
